AH! Autumn
It's is the autumnal equinox! The day and night are in balance! Go ahead, waste an hour or so trying to get an egg to stand on end!
This is the time of year that I miss living in the north, I miss the fall! On the bright side, Texas winters seem to be a never ending autumn! I'm good with that, because it is my favorite season.
On the Wicca side of things:
Olwen was the daughter of the great giant. Her suitor wanted to marry her, they were in love, however, Olwen knew that if she married her father would die. The great giant sent his daughter's lover on 39 tasks which had to be completed before the couple could marry.
One of those tasks was to free Mabon, the child of light, from a prison where he had been kept since birth. Because the child of light was in prison, our days begin to get shorter until his release, once a year at Winter Solstice.
The wheel is turning once again and the year marches on. Rather than lament the time that is laying behind us, rather than regret our past and dread our future because of mistakes we have, or may yet, make, we should look at our accomplishments of perfect love and perfect trust and strive to accomplish many more in the future. Yes, the wheel turns, if we do our best to remain centered we will not notice the ups and downs as much because we will be riding on the center hub of the wheel and, rather than riding the rim of ups and downs, we will be observing the ups and downs and learning about our world, our family of man and ourselves.
