Wejee's Eclectic Tarot

Are you ready to meet the Hermit?

For Wejee’s Eclectic Tarot, I have chosen the image of a Hindu ascetic- he meditates alone, high up in a cave in the Himalayas. One day, when he has reached his Nirvana, perhaps he will travel back down the mountain, to teach us.

And so, The Fool climbs the Himalayas..... remember Brad Pitt, in Seven Years in Tibet? Ok, OK, I know, pure Hollywood fiction, but that Fool learned a few lessons, did he not?

"The roadless plain gives way to step, barren, rocky mountains, and for many, many days, the Fool travels alone. Atop a summit, he spies a figure standing silent, arm upraised, staff in hand. Clambering up the rocky precipice, the Fool comes face to face with the Hermit. “Hello! And who are you?” the Fool eagerly asks. With eyes downcast, the Hermit replies, “I am the nameless one, my relationship is with the world of spirit, not with the world of personalities. My passion is a consciousness that has taken me beyond the Ego, it is the faculty of the wise man by which he isolates himself, even amidst a noisy crowd; it is his skill in hiding his mysteries, even while expressing them, his capacity for silence and his power to act in stillness. Young man, abandon your passion for the trivial. You need not a name to exist.” With that, the Hermit fell silent, and turned his gaze to the Earth. The Fool also fell silent; for how long, he could not remember. But when he finally looked up from the Earth, the Hermit was gone, and he was again alone."
