It’s In The Cards

Dear Reader,

Welcome to my first column in http://www.PaganPages.org. At one time this column appeared in Finer Things Magazine in New Haven, CT, and I am very pleased to be writing my column again; this time for the Pagan Community.

Every month, I will do a tarot reading for one person who I chose for this column. Also, by writing me, you will have a chance for a free tarot 10 minute reading on the phone. If you would like to contact me about purchasing a reading, please visit my web site at www. SubRosaMagick. com or write me at SubRosaMagick@aol.com.

Since I first began reading for the public 13 years ago, I found that I fell in love with being able to help people in their personal lives and on their path as a spiritual counselor. The cards, I have found, often tell us what we need to know, and not necessarily what we want to know. They provide a way for me to see deeper into the heart of an issue and often what magickal advice I also need to give to bring about change.

Even if you aren’t familiar with tarot cards as a form of divination, they also work in the same way other forms do, be it the Runes, I-Ching, oracles or Ogam. The symbols of the tarot speak on many levels, and allow a connection to be created with spirit; opening a doorway for the universe to communicate on a personal level. As an artist as well as a priestess, I acknowledge the power of these symbols, but as a psychic, I use them to “see” more clearly.

Mediumship isn’t something I intentionally practice, but sometimes I do receive messages from spirit or departed loved ones, and if I receive messages I will relay these to you as part of the reading.

This following is the question chosen for this month.

“My birthday is Aug.26, 1964. What path do I take?”
~Shar

Dear Shar,

I have chosen a layout for you called, “The Quest.” It is a seven card layout in a circle with the final result in the center. I will go over every card and tell you how they relate to your current path, and the patterns that form from them.

These seven cards are:

  1. Seven of Cups
  2. The Chariot (7)
  3. The Lovers (6) inversed
  4. Two of Swords
  5. Page of Wands
  6. Two of Wands
  7. The Magician (1)

There is a lack of inverted cards in your reading, with the exception to The Lovers. Many issues you are keenly aware of, and little is hidden from you. What I see is a choice of how you chose to respond to your situation, rather than your situation making decisions for you. Being the Virgo that you are, I am sure that you will rise to the occasion, and I am also sure you have a full checklist in your own mind of what you need to do. I’m here to tell you that what you have set in motion, for the most part, is working. The hard part will be in letting go of some aspect you can’t control, and this will take time. It also involves sacrifice, as you will see in this reading.

Your quest begins with the Seven of Cups, and there are many choices in front of you. The one you will pick will lead you to your destiny, so chose wisely. Your quest will be to place foundations under the castles in the air you have built. Taking the steps necessary to complete your goal must begin now. You are poised on the very edge of a new beginning, and a new opportunity to turn your life around.

The second card is The Chariot, the path that you are currently on. You are moving, physically, mentally and spiritually. It’s for the best, so hang on to the reigns of where your higher power is taking you to. You have been saved literally, by your own actions, and with that confidence go forward boldly.

The third card is The Lovers inversed. You will take a detour on your quest due to your partner’s inability to let go. He will cause you some problems that will need to be resolved, but don’t let this take you from your path. This person is a sharp curve on a badly eroded patch of road. Take the long way and get around him if you can. The Chariot’s horses won’t be able to make the turn! The powers that are bringing you to your destiny do not fit in the small immature world of this person.

The fourth card is the Two of Swords, and what opposes you. Rely on your intuition rather than your eyes and the factual part of the mind. Do not be blind to others motivations, because there is something that you are choosing not to see. Once the blindfold is off the decision will be clear to you. This is your second obstacle.

The fifth card, the Page of Wands, is who will aid you on your journey. A friend will be there to give you the support and enthusiasm you need to see everything in a better light, and the arrival of a better time and revitalizing energy in your life. This Page is a good omen, take this as a sign from the gods that things will turn around for the better. Do not allow any setbacks to discourage you.

The sixth card is the Two of Wands, and what you must give up on your journey. All great things require sacrifice, and a gift begets a gift. There is always an exchange on some level, of energy. Make your decision carefully, again, using your intuition. Like the Two of Swords above, there is a duality to your situation, and you will find yourself both reconciling conflicts and priorities. What ever you must leave behind, do not make this decision either lightly or quickly.

The seventh card is The Magician, who you will become as a result of this path you have chosen. Use your magick wisely and well, because it will also shape who you will become as well as your actions. The path of forced growth, of self-knowledge, is a difficult one but the rewards far outweigh the work required. The work is also necessary a part of your growth. But it also carries a warning not to be attracted to lower emotion, in the form of the trickster. Old patterns must now be discarded like outworn clothes – they are not attractive and will serve you no longer. You are not who you have been in the past, and that was never who you really were anyway. You will reclaim your own power as a woman and witch, and this will leave you at a new beginning and a new chapter of your life.

Blessings,
Rev. Alicia
