Thanks for the feedback! Yes Kim I agree it's important to teach your children about your ancestors and include them in your Samhain celebrations. Great ideas!

You can find pre-dried gourds at http://www.ecklerfarms.com/fall_decorations.html (They sell other things for fall decorating, as well as seeds to plant your own gourds, corn, etc.).
I'm sure you could also find these items at certain craft stores this time of year also, as a lot of people like to decorate with them..regardless of their spiritual path.

I also wanted to say that I enjoyed this article, but I had another suggestion that can be done with children. If you wanted to include your ancestors in your dinner with your children; lay out the plate as you would above, invite them, etc., then tell stories and memories of your ancestors with your children. You can also share traits that they share in common with those that have passed (whether they knew the person or not).
I believe that those that have passed want to be remembered and in telling these stories/memories we honor them and spread the love that they had for life and those in their hearts while they were alive. And what child doesn't want to know about the things they have in common with those in their family? Or know who their grandparent (or anyone else) was?
And also this way your not stressing over being quiet, or the children being quiet (which is a lot to ask of them as anyone with kids of any age knows, lol), and they get to be involved also.

Many Samhain blessings,
Kim
