Concerning the 'problem' you've mentioned in footnote #1. Might I suggest the terms MYSTERY and INFORMED. These are common academic terms for the study of religion and quite clear-cut as to how they are applied. Most religions, with the most notable exceptions of the Christian/Judaic/Islamic variety are mystery religions. Gnostic Christianity, for all intents and purposes having been 'outlawed' since the Council of Nicea (4th Century), was the last vestige of Christianity being a mystery religion. There are certain sects of Judism and Islamic mysticism but they are almost ignored by the mainstream varieties of those faith goups.

You could also use the terms, DOCTRINAL and NON-DOCTRINAL, though this could cause some problems with a wider variety of faith group classifications.

As a "teacher" in our local community I am always faced with theological questions and questions on ethics. I find reading your articles informative and ways to initiate discussions. My Hearth, The Hearth of Balckwatch Pagans, is a teaching hearth and we always have new people and the "regulars" also. We are always looking for new topics and ways to express ourselves and live our faiths every day all day. We are mostly Scottish/Celtic with some Norse and a smattering of other paths too. Thank you for your articles. Blesses to all. Greyspirit and wee Viggo [puppy woofster]

I've read several of your articles in PP and find them stimulating and thoughtful. You, like I, are a theologeon. Please don't do the knee-jerk thing and try to reject this label out of hand. I did that when first described that way and didn't accept the 'title' until much later. But think about it a little and I think you'll find it really does describe what you are doing in these articles. Again, I believe you are doing wonderfully and providing some very good, thought provoking words. I applaud your efforts and look forward to reading more.
