Along with the joy comes responsibility, and critical thinking (necessary to weeding out what does and doesn’t work for us as individuals) usually develops during the first year (hence the “year and a day” of most initiate systems) if it hasn’t already. However, these things happen when we are ready for them to happen; so it will be with your relatives.

Some paths are harder to walk than others, but that is, I think, by choice. As you say, there is no right or wrong way to be a pagan, no right or wrong to walk your path as long it fulfills your spiritual needs.
