Worth the Witch

March, 2018

The Witch’in Way

The Witch’in Way is a shop that offers magickal boxes based on and released for the Sabbat months. Occasionally, The Witch’in Way will release a theme box, as well. The boxes contain a variety of charming handmade and natural goodies to help you celebrate the appropriate Sabbat.

Based in Halifax, Canada, The Witch’in Way has no problem shipping their wonderful items to the U.S.A. for actual shipping, no price gouging here!

Knowing that a lot of the items in the The Witch’in Way Box are handmade we were curious to see what the items we would receive would be and the quality of them. When the box arrived, we were very excited.

The Packaging

The The Witch’in Way Box arrived wrapped in plain, brown paper with their label in the corner. Their label is not large or overpowering in any way, so really no unwanted attention is drawn to it. Even though it says the name of the company, I think those in the broom closet can get away with receiving this package. It looks inconspicuous enough.

We were so excited by the package, we jumped right in…

Open Package

As soon as you open the packaging, and tear wide that box, the beautiful wrapper and sticker are exposed.

Informational Pages

The first item you get in the box is the Informational Pages. Love these. So important for every box to have. Their sheets come with tons of facts.

The theme of our Witch’in Way Box is Yule. Their Informational Pages give the background of the Yule Sabbat and the facts and information for materials included in the box. They even make sure to include poison warnings for herbs.

The paper it is printed on is a lovely parchment.

I did notice, after going through the entirety of the box, a few minor items were not mentioned. If you do not know what certain things are used for it may be an issue, but if you are a seasoned witch, it will not make a difference.

Mistletoe

The freshness of the herb supplied took me by surprise. I have yet to have received such a quality yet. The smell was incredibly aromatic and the color was intensely vibrant.

The Informational Page The Witch’in Way supplies suggests several spells Mistletoe can be used for. They supply you with a generous amount that you can use them in a variety of those spells.

They even make sure to warn you of the fact that ingesting Mistletoe is Poisonous. The Witch’in Way is on top of things!

Star Anise

You can smell the fresh aroma of black licorice, as it penetrates through the bag of Star Anise. The pieces are whole and beautiful, not broken bits just lying in a bag. You are given a good amount, at least half a bag’s worth of the fresh herb.

The Informational Page suggests what it is useful for and a way to make use of it.

Two Charcoal Discs

They can be used to burn resins, incense, powdered herbal blends or dried herbs. Two Charcoal Discs are included with the Box, but their use is not explained to you. Most experienced witches know their purpose, but those new to using loose herbs and such may not know. I assume they are for burning the loose herbs that come with the box.

Two Tealight Candles

These two tealights are not mentioned on the Informational Pages, but we all know what candles are. These smell as though the green one is a pine and the red may be cranberry. The scents are very strong and agreeable.

These could be used as any candle could be used; for spells, rituals, black-outs. The colors and fragrances are appropriate for the Boxes theme.

Citrine

This large hunk of Citrine arrives in a lovely gossamer bag. This smooth, shiny, polished gemstone is a large size. The coloring is, simply put, beautiful. Because of the shape of the stone I received, holding it is incredibly soothing. It fits in the palm of my hand and is nicely cradled within. I can easily meditate with this stone comfortably. The Witch’in Way has included the correspondences for Citrine on their Informational Pages.

Yule Oil

The Witch’in Way includes a generous sized bottle of their own Yule Oil Blend. The aroma is impressive! Strong, not a weak scented oil. You can tell it is properly made and blended.

The Informational Pages explain to you what the oil is made up of. It states, what is contained within from it’s base oil, to all the essential oils mixed in. Not only that, it explains why they used each oil and what it represents. Each component is appropriate for a Yule working and they mix together marvelously.

Mini Yule Log and Candles

When we came upon this in the box we squealed with excitement! Our own Yule Log! It can fit in any home. How cute. What an incredibly imaginative, creative, great idea! I have never seen anything like this before. It is solid and very festive. Very well made, from a real log.

Now for the best part… The Witch’in Way includes candles. They are birthday candles. They have cut the holes into the log and the candles fit right in perfectly. So you may purchase more candles on your own and your Yule Log is re-usable! You have a permanent Yule Log you can use year after year. Easy to store because of it’s size.

The Informational Pages tell you what a Yule Log is, what you can use yours for and suggests a great way to get your whole family involved in a ritual involving the Yule Log.

Witch Ball

Just when I thought the beauty of the Yule Log had me, I unwrap a gorgeous Witch Ball. Handmade by The Witch’in Way and simply put, beautiful. It is to Bless & Protect your home.

The Informational Pages tell you all that it holds within. It contains: jasmine flowers, cinnamon, cedar, and has hanging amethyst and citrine stones. There is, also, a rune/symbol in the witch ball that is not mentioned on the sheet. I am not sure what it’s meaning is, but so far knowing the rest of the contents of the box, I feel certain it’s appropriate.

Yule Cards

I loved this idea. How many of us are searching for cards around the holiday that have a simple message that is not christian? We have to settle for a plain “Happy Holidays”. Or, how many of us have to make our own! Well, The Witch’in Way has included a set of 6 warm and unique cards for us to send out for the Yule holiday! Not only are they thoughtful but they are beautiful. I do love the fae and winter faeries are perfect for the season.

My Overall Impression…

The Witch’in Way definitely has a different type of box. Made up of mostly homemade items, their own blends, and definitely their own unique ideas. I must say I LOVE it!

All handcrafted. That brings a special aspect to it. Knowing that someone actually cared enough to build you this box piece by piece. Impart magick bit by bit, in every feature as the box grew.

The creative thinking The Witch’in Way put into this box impresses me. A Yule Log that can be used in all size spaces and saved year round. How to incorporate your entire family into your celebrations. Creating something to Bless & Protect your home that looks so lovely. The thoughtfulness of including Holiday Cards to send your friends and family.

The Witch’in Way was very generous with their size of products. They definitely did not hold back with their generous supply of oil and herbs. I guess the only thing I could say is that the Informational Pages should have included those things like the charcoal, tealights, and the rune information. But that is so insignificant compared to all they offer!

Let’s meet The Witch’in Way…

Willow Moonhawk is the wonderful woman behind The Witch’in Way. She has taken some time from her busy schedule to answer a few questions with us at PaganPages.org

PaganPagesOrg: What brought the idea of the Mystery Box to you?

Willow Moonhawk: I will no longer be offering a Mystery Box/Surprise Box.  When The Witch’in Way began there were 3 of us, then 2 and now only myself, Willow Moonhawk.  I have been doing the boxes myself for approximately 6 months and felt I couldn’t keep up on my own while also working full-time night shifts as a nurse.

I will be only offering Boxes for the Sabbat Months, and on occasion may offer other Themed Boxes as well.

PaganPagesOrg: I am sorry to hear that you will no longer have your Mystery Boxes, but so happy that you will still have your Sabbat Boxes. Your Boxes are amazing and it would be sad for the community to lose them. I look forward to seeing some of your Theme Boxes. How did you begin the Sabbat Boxes?

Willow Moonhawk: I always wanted to start a pagan related business, and the subscription box service has become increasingly popular.  The idea was presented through the original partnership.

PaganPagesOrg: How do you choose what you place in your Boxes?

Willow Moonhawk: Items are chosen to coincide with the Pagan holidays and are meant to be tools and items that can be used in ritual and day-to-day practice.  The herbs and stones are chosen for the Sabbat as well.

PaganPagesOrg: Is yours a recurring monthly Box?

Willow Moonhawk: The Boxes originally were offered on a monthly basis, but as of March 1st, 2018 they will only be offered in a limited number via The Witch’in Way Etsy shop.  The goal is to be able to offer 5 -10 Boxes for each Sabbat.

PaganPagesOrg: Are you, yourself Pagan?

Willow Moonhawk: I am a practicing Pagan, and have been since 1999.  I am eclectic, but am drawn to Norse and Egyptian pantheons.  I am also a natural medium.

Thank you so much Willow Moonhawk from The Witch’in Way for chatting with us and Sharing!

Worth the Witch

February, 2018

You’ve Got Magick Mail with Inked Goddess Creations!

Magick Mail can be a recurring monthly subscription box or a one time box deal. Whatever floats your boat. Each month’s delivery is different from the previous and matches that month’s energy and theme. They contain exclusive Inked Goddess Creations handmade products, as well as, products from other small businesses and artists to bring you unique products.

Every box contains an exclusive to Inked Goddess Creations Candle. A DIY kit so you can focus your magick. Three more additional items that fit the theme of the month and information cards.

Magick Mail ranges in price from a One Month purchase for $25 with free shipping, to a Six Month Subscription which makes each box $20.84 with free shipping.

We were curious as to what makes this box so unique and Magickal! Let’s tear into it…

The Packaging

The box is adorable. It comes with a Goddess symbol and the words Magick Mail on top. The long sides say Release the Magick Within & the internet address.

The two smaller sides have a variety of style of stars on them. The packaging is fun. However, if you are not out of the broom closet, do not ask for a neighbor or anyone to pick up the package for you or have it left outside your door. I kind of think it is whimsical enough though to not be over the top.

When you open the box lid up you get a cute message from the maker. That message is hidden and for your eyes only when you open the box. It is a lovely touch.

The Kitchen Witch Card

The first thing your eyes are drawn to when you open the box is a postcard sized note with the words The Kitchen Witch printed on it boldly. This card introduces you to the boxes topic for the month. This particular month was Kitchen Witchery. I love this idea! How unique! Not just Kitchen Witchery as in herbs, but COOKING, too!!

The card gives a detailed list of everything the box contains and a breakdown of each items value so you know what you are getting for what you paid. The prices look fair and just and nothing seems over priced to me.

and meanings of each item are listed. Also, information on the box that the items come in is given. It is made from 100% recycled and biodegradable packaging and tissue paper. Being kind to Mother Earth!

Silicone Spatula

This adorable, purple, silicone Spatula comes sealed separately to keep it nice and hygienic. It is sturdy and made of good quality. The handle reads “Stir in Some Magick”. Adorable! The royal purple color was picked intentionally for divine guidance. The Kitchen Witch Card gives you all the information on safety for using the Silicone Spatula and the temperatures it is good for.

Reusable Grocery Bag

This is the cutest reusable bag I have seen. It came in very handy while buying supplies for a recipe that was included with the box, that will be shared later in the review. Very roomy. Holds as much, no more, than a flimsy grocery bag.

Candle

Great smelling votive candle. It has a thick, solid foundation. The shade of brown is simply lovely.

Blank Recipe Cards

Included are four 5×7 inch cards to write your own recipes on. They are on good solid cardstock so they will last. They design in the background is cute. There is ample space to write ingredients, directions, and take notes.

Now…the fun parts… I have saved these two pieces for last because they go together.

Culinary Blends Sample Pack

There are four sample bottles of Magick Spice Blends included in this Magickal Cooking themed box for you to cook and bake with and add to your own recipes. I think they are pretty large for “sample sized”. Each bottle relates to a different spell. There is Money, Love, Protection, & Healing. The herbs contained in each bottle are written on each label, as well as, allergy warnings. The flavors range from sweet to savory.

Recipe Cards with

Four recipe cards are included with the Magick Mail box. All four tie in the Culinary Blends Sample Pack! Each recipe is from the box creator’s personal cookbook. There is 1 Breakfast/Snack recipe, 2 Meal recipes, & 1 Dessert. All sound delicious. Each recipe comes on a pretty card, professionally printed on sturdy cardstock.

SOOOO….How do we know if these recipes are any good?? How do we know if these Magick Spice Blends are any good? Well, we bake…

Magickal Baking Fun!

I chose to bake the Lovin’ Double Chocolate Cookies. I used my new bag to purchase my supplies and got down to it. I picked this recipe because, well, I LOVE cookies & chocolate.

This recipe called for the Love Mixture. I used exactly as much as it asked for, and I KNEW it was a big “sample’ jar, because I have plenty left over to make another batch or something else. The batch of cookies is a large one. I can easily get 21 pretty LARGE cookies from it.

I followed the recipe exactly. Pouring all my energy and Love into it. Here is my batter of Love.

So first taste of cookies is always the dough. If you can eat cookie dough raw and love it, you know you have a good cookie….or just dough that will never become a cookie because you’ve eaten all the dough! Dip one….OMGODDESS!!!! I needed milk! Just for the dough! It was that good! Dip two….more milk. I couldn’t. They had to force me to bake them.

Hocus Pocus and Bam….We have Cookies!!

The taste is a mixture of Deliciousness, choco-chocolate chip cookie, part brownie, love, and heaven. There may be no such place as heaven, but this cookie is it. I think the magick of the Love in the cookie was for everyone to Love the Cookie 🙂

My Overall Impression of Magick Mail…

I do not see how anyone could not love this box. It engages you. It is different from the regular boxes out there that just give you incense, candles, witch supplies, and say, this does this and that. This box makes you DO MAGICK in a fun way. And, you get to incorporate your whole family. You get supplies you get to use on a regular, every day basis to remind you that you ARE a witch. A bag to do your everyday shopping. to cook everyday meals and treats. To think this box of fun changes every month with new, innovative ideas, now that is something!!

Now let’s learn a little more about Magick Mail and Inked Goddess Creations.

Morgan Moss is the inspiration behind Magick Mail. She took some time from her busy schedule with Inked Goddess Creations to talk with us.

PaganPagesOrg: What brought the idea of the monthly subscription box to you?

Morgan Moss: My kids were subscribed to some monthly kits for science, crafts, etc. They loved getting them every month, so I started looking up subscription boxes that I would be interested in getting each month. The witchy boxes that existed at the time were too expensive for my family’s budget, and I knew I couldn’t be the only witch on a budget who wanted a subscription box. That’s when the idea for Magick Mail was born.

PaganPagesOrg: How did you begin them?

Morgan Moss: I started with a lot of research, online and with my customers. I didn’t want Magick Mail to be like any of the boxes that were already on the market. My online store had been open for a few years, so I had an idea of what types of products my customers enjoyed. Once I figured out what type of box I wanted Magick Mail to be, and the price that would cover it, I launched it.

PaganPagesOrg: How do you choose what to put inside your boxes?

Morgan Moss: Each month we choose a theme that resonates with that month’s energy. We have a checklist we like to follow to make Magick Mail unique from other boxes out there. Each month we have a handmade votive, a DIY (we want the customer making magick each month), at least 1 handmade item exclusive to Inked Goddess Creations, and several other full-sized and sample-sized products. Many of the products I choose by intuition. I also like to work with other small businesses to get their products out into the world.

PaganPagesOrg: Is yours a recurring monthly box?

Morgan Moss: We have a One-Time Purchase box which does not renew, and monthly, 3-month and 6-month recurring subscriptions.

PaganPagesOrg: Are you, yourself Pagan?

Morgan Moss: Yes. I’ve walked the path of the Avalonian Tradition for about 13 years now, and am an eclectic kitchen witch.

PaganPagesOrg: What are some of your interests?

Morgan Moss: My family is my everything. My husband and I have been married for 18 years, and we have 2 kids, 15 and 13. We are very big into spending time as a family, which we do by watching movies, playing board games and collaborating on items for the store. When I’m not working or spending time with my family, I enjoy reading, catching up on my favorite TV shows, and practice regular meditation.

PaganPagesOrg: Did you feel the Pagan world was missing something to make you create your box?

Morgan Moss: I did. At the time I started my research, the pagan subscription box market was saturated with expensive monthly boxes. I wanted something the average pagan could afford, but that every pagan would enjoy.

PaganPagesOrg: Do you sell other types of products?

Morgan Moss: We do! Inked Goddess Creations has been open since 2013, supplying the tools for your magickal life. Many of our items are handmade, such as Spell Oils, Perfume Oils, Mists, Spell Kits, Witch Bottles and more. Our candles are exclusively made for our store, and we have unique altar items, divination items, a line of Kitchen Witchery items and so much more!

Worth the Witch

The BOHO Box

The BOHO Box is a recurring monthly box subscription full of surprises like beautiful boho jewelry, natural beauty products and cosmetics, essential oil-based perfumes, incense, crystals, candles… and surprise gifts like dreamcatchers or leather journals. Their boxes are $39.95 a month.

Right now they are only shipping within the United States, but if you join their Newsletter you get 10% off your first box!

The BOHO Box has sent us a box to review…so let’s get right to it.

The Box Arrives…

The BOHO Box comes in a completely plain brown outer box. This is great news to me. Though I am out of the broom closet (and you can find me kissing the tree in front of my house when I borrow from it) I favor this due to the fact that many are in the broom closet and you never know about nosy neighbors seeing things on your front doorstep.

However…

Inside this box is another box and the beginning of the goodies! This box is beautifully decorated with their logo and states proudly “The BOHO Box”. You also pull out your first gifts that give you an inkling of what your box will be like.

First, A Bumper Sticker that states “Follow the Moon”. Nice, bright, and simple. You can put it on your car, altar, or anywhere.

Next, you pull out a real delight that makes you think. A gorgeous, handcrafted mask. With glorious plumage. The jewels around the eyes give it a festive effect. Great for Samhain, a party, or a fun ritual/spell.

Now I’m really curious. Let’s open this box and really dig in!

Included Papers

When the box with The BOHO Box business logo on top is opened you are greeted by a purple wax sealed letter. There are 2 pages to the letter. The first page is a letter that states all the goings on within the company and is very interesting. It tells you the topic of the Box for the month. Our Topic: Moon Goddess! The first letter goes on to detail all that is held within the box and what everything is used for.

The second page is information on different Moon Goddesses from all over the world. (Pictured in full box photo later.)

The letters are printed on beautiful parchment paper. The wax seal adds an elegant touch.

Spooky & Elegant Rhinestone Spider Bracelet

Who would like a spider bracelet? I would! Especially one like this! Elegant is definitely the word for this bracelet. The rhinestones have a wonderful crystal-like feel. Sturdy, not cheaply made or flimsy. The design is gorgeous. Clasps on easily. No fear of falling off. The way it clasps it seems to be able to fit multiple size wrists.

Wild & Free Boho Crescent Moon Layer Necklace

This decorative necklace has a very creative design. It harnesses the moons power in many creative fashions. It definitely has a wild & free feel to it. The short part of the necklace has a choker feel to it, while the long piece gives you a lariat effect. Both work together to give a wonderful appearance.

Anointing Oil Formulated for Rituals & Spells

Given to us is Samhain Anointing Oil for Rituals & Spells by one of the most trusted and best Pagan companies known to us online shoppers, Azure Green. It smells wonderful, like nutmeg and cloves.

Boho Ring with Mandala Inspired Design

It’s Large in design size and very pretty. But it’s hard to send a ring. The finger size is average to small. It didn’t fit me or my young niece. I did find someone for it to fit and she loves it. So that makes me very happy because it really is a very pretty piece. I can see how difficult it is to include a ring in a box. It’s a wonderful idea, though.

Black Pouch Containing Gemstones

The black velvet pouch contains 3 raw stones, this means they are not polished down to smooth stones. You get the in their raw energies. The stones are a Black Obsidian, which has a glorious shine to it. An Amethyst and a Moonstone. They are all sparkly, huge pieces. The reasons for sending them and their correspondences are listed on the papers sent.

The Moon Incense Cones

The Moon Incense are from HEM which is a company, if you burn incense on a regular basis, you may know well. They are a great company. Well known and trusted. The scent is relaxing when burned, it gives a clean aroma.

Celtic Inspired Crescent Moon Pendant

Beautiful moon with lovely markings. Almost looks like marcasite. The three bulbs could represent the triple goddess. Choker length. Good medium size.

Silver Nail Polish to Mirror your Jewelry

Now that you shine with your new jewelry, your beautiful mask, and your fully anointed, why not have your nails shine, too!! This is a full size bottle of Silver, shiny polish. Not sample sized. It’s silver, also, not like foil, or a gray.

Moonstone Pendulum

Good weight. The peachy color to the pendulum is delicious. The gemstones that run up the chain are brilliant shades. The gemstone chips on the balancing side of the pendulum are a very pretty touch.

Cloth Pendulum Mat

As if a pendulum was not enough, a pendulum mat was sent! I have not seen one of these. I am used to seeing pendulum worksheets on paper. This is a thick cloth. The bottom side has a grip type fabric to it. The top is made of a velvet type fabric. It is a lot fun to work with. We tried it with those new to the pendulum and those who are old hands at the pendulum and they both enjoyed it.

Starry Forest Card to be Framed

A beautiful picture is sent to inspire you. It is of the night sky in the forest. The stars in the background look as if they glow. The picture is for you to save and frame or just hang. It really is breathtaking.

Personal Oracle Card Reading

I found this reading to be something rather incredible because it hit right on what I was going through at the moment. Without the round about mumbo jumbo that could fit any situation. It spoke to me directly. Also, sage advice was given.

The card that was drawn for you, is given to you to keep. The deck the card is taken from is beautiful. The advice is given on parchment paper. I found this part of the box to be the most inspirational.

Over All Impression…

I think The BOHO Box had me from the wax seal! No wait, the mask! It spoke of surprise and whimsy ahead. Boy did they deliver! Each turn had a new surprise and unique gift. This box made me shine in so many ways. It made me feel pretty and good inside and out!

The jewelry and polish made me shine & glow on the outside. The incense and stones had me feeling good spiritually. The pendulum, pendulum mat & anointing oil The BOHO Box provided helped me to be more spiritual in my everyday life.

Now this reading The BOHO Box sent me. Honestly, it blew me away. I don’t know how they did it. How they can give a personal reading to touch everyone in a subscription box, but they do. It was personally addressed to me, by name and all. I am very, very impressed. The box is only $39.95 and for all you get, I find this a very fair price.

So who is behind The BOHO Box? Her name is Diana Price and she took some time from her very busy schedule to talk with us at PaganPagesOrg about The BOHO Box and more.

PaganPagesOrg: What brought the idea of The BOHO Box to you?

Diana Price: Even before I discovered that the box subscription phenomena was a real “thing,” I thought it would be cool to create a subscription to some kind of box filled with things to pamper people and make then feel good. Then I discovered a lot of people were already doing that and became a subscriber to a box myself.

When that box arrived every month, I was downright giddy. That great feeling inspired me to get serious and do it myself. I have many interests, mainly metaphysical, but I was building a boho lifestyle blog and decided to go with The Boho Box first. Ironically, that boho site is being revamped because I discovered that “gypsy” is considered a racial slur, so The Soul of a Gypsy has to be completely rebranded. Fortunately, The Boho Box also has a separate site/domain.

I’ve also secured domains and social media for an astrology box and may try to create one for my jewelry/metaphysical store, The Midnight Rose, but I’m still learning the ropes with The Boho Box. One at a time…

PaganPagesOrg: How did you begin the process of the subscription?

Diana Price: I joined up on groups with others doing subscription boxes to learn as much as possible and signed up with the selling platform Cratejoy, but the costs of it are high, so I am trying to funnel subscribers directly to my site with the hope of reducing the cost.

I already had a list of suppliers from trying to launch online stores in the past and a small store on my Tarot and Horoscopes site, so I had the resources for the products already.

PaganPagesOrg: How do you choose what to put inside the boxes?

Diana Price: I try to choose monthly themes and sort of match things up, but this last month I think I got a little too caught up in that. I had found these gorgeous crystal lotuses, then choose very sparkly jewelry to go along with it. It didn’t go over so well, so lesson learned…. stay BOHO!

I still try to keep with a theme because ideally I want all the jewelry pieces to work together so people can layer, but check myself to make sure I stay in line with the boho style.

After the jewelry pieces are selected, I browse through my suppliers and start filling in the other goodies. I’m also wanting to create more handcrafted items starting with the February box.

Basically, I try to create a box I’d love and get excited about opening.

PaganPagesOrg: Is The BOHO Box a recurring monthly box subscription?

Diana Price: Yes, it’s a monthly subscription.

PaganPagesOrg: Are you, yourself a pagan?

Diana Price: Yes, although I tend to be a bit of a closeted one, not talking much about that or my tarot and astrology interests with many casual friends because I’ve been burned in the past by that. Many years ago I worked night shift in a nursing home and would bring books to read in the downtime, often on metaphysical topics. I found out from co-workers the Southern Baptist charge nurse was telling everyone I worshiped the devil and didn’t know it, and even said “Suffer not a witch to live.”

I was devastated. Unfortunately, many who visit your site will probably have a similar story.

I’m working on being more open about my pagan and Gothic sensibilities. I’m currently on a travel nurse job in Charleston, SC, and as I was driving around, I realized my style and the vibe I REALLY want for my new store and jewelry line, The Midnight Rose, is more witchy southern Gothic and I need to fully embrace that. I had been sort of “mainstreaming” the jewelry line and avoiding anything too pagan or dark, but that’s who I am and I need to embrace it.

PaganPagesOrg: What are some of your interests?

Diana Price: I love to travel, although preferably without the nightmare of a temp job I’m currently on, and love photography, tarot, and I’ve been doing paranormal investigations. I’m also getting serious about candle-making and natural beauty products as well as jewelry design.

I’m quite the foodie, so I’m trying to cram in as much fine dining as possible while in Charleston and I’m taking next weekend to visit Savannah. I’m sure I’ll return inspired!

PaganPagesOrg: Do you sell other products?

Diana Price: Yes, as I touched on, The Midnight Rose will be selling more than jewelry when it’s fully up and running – also new and vintage clothing, custom candles, herbs, natural beauty products, and Victorian/Southern Gothic gifts as well as tarot readings and astrology charts/reports. I’ve also started designing a line of Semicolon jewelry for suicide awareness.

PaganPagesOrg: Is there anything else you would like to add about yourself or your boxes?

Diana Price: Like many other box businesses, I’m just a small, “mom and pop” operation, but I take each box personally and always try to deliver a lot of value and something that makes people happy. I think that’s especially important right now in these dark times we’re living in. I believe one of the best ways to fight back against that darkness is to spread as much light and positivity into the world as possible.

I’d like to thank Diana Price for talking with us and I wish her so much prosperity on her endeavors. I know I can not wait to see her new ideas. If they are anything like The BOHO Box I know they will be great!!

And, there is a free gift with every purchase.  Each free gift varies.

The boxes arrived…

in a regular mailing box with no obvious Pagan symbology on it. So perfect for those in the broomcloset and doesn’t matter for those who are out!

Excited to see so many boxes, I dig right in.

OUR FIRST BOX IS…

Yule/ Winter Solstice Box #01 Cookie Cutter

Informative Papers

The thing that you notice straight off is the amount of papers the box comes with. So you are automatically drawn to them and want to dive in. What wonderful reading it is! There are pages of information and it is all great, helpful, and about the holiday. The correspondences for the stones are given, yay! By now, you know I love that. They give the history, lore, and correspondences for Yule. They suggest ideas on ways to celebrate Yule Magickally and Mundanely. Since this is a box for a Yule Cookie Cutter, there is a recipe for “roll out” cookies. There are some coloring pages included for fun. Then there are two pieces of lovely parchment paper included. These are Spell & Ritual Worksheets. Gorgeously set up. The spell sheet gives a quick guide on the bottom, for those new to the craft, or those who just need a quick reminder, on pointers to recall on writing a spell. The Ritual worksheet has a box to help you layout your altar. To help with your worksheets, there is a page on how to use any Magickal Workings Box by ForevrGoddess and when to craft a spell. The information on these sheets is informative and helpful. I thought, from the amount of papers, it may be overwhelming. I found the pages to be filled with fun things I can do, either by myself, or with my family.  They are anything but overwhelming! They really are a welcome treat. They add to my knowledge bank and fun.

Love Candle

The Candle is from Crystal Journey Candles. It is Reiki Energy Charged. Each candle comes with an affirmation. They say what fragrances were used in it. They give the name of the Candle. Instructions on how to charge your candle are provided. Precautions on candle use are given. They even say to use the candles in love & light in which they were created in and they wish you luck on your journey toward the light. This candle is called Love. It is a beautiful shade of red. The scent is not overwhelming but light and pleasing.

Yule Herbs

These are a Magickal Incense Blend made by ForevrGoddess Boutique. It’s their own blend of herbs and spices and it smells wonderful. Just like Yule! A wonderful winter’s day! They send you a generous amount. It can be used in bonfires, rituals, & spells.

Yule Stones

Included are 5 stones: Rose Quartz, Crystal Quartz Point, Citrine, and Serpentine. They are nice sized, polished stones. All vibrant colors.

Cookie Cutter

The highlight, and probably the funnest part of the box, is the cookie cutter and making the cookies! And what fun it is!! You can use the recipe the box comes with, look one up on the internet, or use an old family recipe. The cookie cutter itself is an adorable snowflake shape. Good quality metal, not flimsy or thin. Fun to use with or without kids.

Our Second Box Up is…

Yule/ Winter Solstice Box #02 Yule Pendulum

Informative Papers

Once again I am impressed with the paperwork. I am really blown away. It comes with the correspondences for the stones. Your yule information is all there. Then there is a beautiful Pendulum worksheet on parchment paper that lays out what you need to chart out when working with your Pendulum. The page gives information on the bottom on how to craft a spell. Not only that but a Pendulum worksheet information guide page is given with ideas and instructions on how to use your pendulum and your pendulum worksheet. I think they got you covered!

Love Candle

This is the same red candle that is included in the Yule/ Winter Solstice Box #01 Cookie Cutter by Crystal Journey Candles.

Yule Stones

These are the same Yule Stones that are included in the Yule/ Winter Solstice Box #01 Cookie Cutter.

Yule Herbs

These are the same Yule Herbs that are included in the Yule/ Winter Solstice Box #01 Cookie Cutter.

Yule Pendulum

This is a handmade Pendulum that shows the shop owner’s lovely craftsmanship. The word Yule with a Goddess symbol is hand-stamped on metal on one side with adorable reindeer and snowflake charms. Paired with beads, a quartz point, and citrine. These are connected on a chain to a beautiful pendulum hand filled with ForevrGoddess special blend of Magickal Yule Herbs.

The Next Box Up is…

Brigid Heart Pocket Charm Box

Informative Papers

They tell you everything that is in the box and about everything that is in side the box! There is information on Brigid herself. on the crystals/stones for Brigid included. A sheet on how to cleanse your crystals/stones & charge your crystals/stones is included. ForevrGoddess provides a sheet of information on creating a crystal grid. They even suggest places where you can find good, quality information on further studies about crystals/stones.

Angel’s Influence Candle

A Crystal Journey Candle. Gorgeous shade of blue with a wonderful scent. This candle is called Angel’s Influence.

Rose Incense

Ahh the smell of Rose Incense in the air. 50 sticks plus a holder by Morning Star. The holder is a very cute flower tile. The incense are of excellent quality with a heady aroma.

Brigid Heart Charm by Deva Designs

Wonderful blessing/devotional coin. Back says, “Remember You are Blessed.” Something to help us through those tough moments in life. Coin is thick and has heft to it. Small enough to carry in pocket, wallet, purse. Nice to flip around in hand or rub as a reminder during those times we need confidence.

Blessed Brigid Bag Stones

A mix of rough and polished stones. Good sizes. There are 5 in all: Rose quartz, Unakite, and Gold Pyrite. These were all chosen in honor of Brigid. The correspondences and information are all listed on the pages given along with the box.

The Fourth Box is…

Comfort Goddess Box Set

Informative Papers

The sheets for Comfort Goddess explain what you will find in the box. Each item is described in such detail that you even know the company name. Each individual crystal has it’s correspondence listed. ForevrGoddess discusses ways in their sheets to bring the Goddess more into your every day life & ways to bring you closer to her. There is a beautiful original prayer and Spellwork sheet on parchment paper. The Spellwork sheet, as the others have, give you instructive hints on things to remember when writing your spell on the bottom of the sheet.  Helpful prompts and great blank spaces to add your information.

Joy Candle

This candle is also a Crystal Journey Votive called “Joy”. It so delicious you want to take a bite! Such a Vibrant orange.

Rose Incense

Same 50 sticks & holder of Morning Star Rose incense as in the Brigid Heart Pocket Charm Box.

Quartz Crystal Point & Botswana Agate

Excellent sizes. The Quartz Crystal Point is raw and over 1 ¾ inches long and over 1 inch wide. The Botswana Agate is nicely polished. And the correspondences for them are given in the information sheets.

Gemstone Comfort Goddess

Honey Calcite Comfort Goddess by Deva Designs. The first thought to come to my mind was that it looks funny. It’s an odd shape. Like it’s trying to look like a Goddess. I picked it up and OMGODDESS does it feel great in your hand. In any position. It molds to the natural shapes of the curves of your hand. No matter what spot you hold it in, it just fits snugly. You forget you are holding it, it does not give you hand cramps. You can meditate with it or just hold it for a long time and just feel it’s positive energy. The energy pours off of this Goddess figure.

Heart Seed Paper & Note

The heart seed paper is a beautiful idea to write your intentions for the coming year & use as an offering when you plant it, as suggested. The note paper tells you what flowers may grow from the seeded paper. A beautiful gift for you and the Goddess.

Over All Impression…

From the first box I opened from ForevrGoddess I thought they were beautifully packaged, smelled wonderful, and looked so peaceful.

The information packets that came with each box excited me. So much content on a variety of topics all having to do with the subject of the box. They give all the correspondences for the crystals and information on everything in the box or the theme of the box, which I find important. I have learned so much new information, gained many new ideas, and had some great crafting/baking hours!

Doing the activities in the boxes are a ton of fun. From using the Yule Pendulum, to baking cookies, working a spell with my new worksheets, to making a Brigid Crystal Grid, there is so much to do. The prices are perfect and fair for all you get, and shipping is free in the USA. Plus you get a free gift with each purchase.

The items are all made of good quality, whether they are handmade by the store owner or premade.

ForevrGoddess boxes are definitely Worth the Witch!

So…Who is it behind the scenes at ForevrGoddess running the show? Her name is Norma G. Clark and she has taken time out of her busy schedule to have a chat with PaganPagesOrg.

PaganPagesOrg (PPO): Hello Norma G. Clark!

Norma G. Clark (NGC): Hello Jennifer thank you for this opportunity to share the word about ForevrGoddess.

PPO: Our Pleasure. What brought the idea of the boxes to you?

NGC: We create boxes to fit your needs at the moment or a special need for family or friends. I offer the opportunity for buyers to see what we have for them to purchase and ask questions. I don’t hide our items, we open our boutique with ideas we create in our personal home, most of them you see before you in our boxes, we stand by quality, beauty of our products, and a unique approach to the Wiccan and Pagan lifestyle. We want them to share a unique experience with us on their spiritual journey.

PPO: How did you begin them?

NGC: Research.  I’ve gone through my references and resources and of course guidance by my Goddesses and Gods to see what there is need for. We’ve seen so many that cater only to certain things. We want to be the first to welcome all life stages happening; from Wiccan parents bringing their beautiful babies home from the hospital, to a young woman finding her 1st Goddess statue & finding magick within. We even deal with the negative by trying to help those find the light within.

PPO: How do you choose what goes inside your boxes?

NGC: I choose often for a specific need, or goal, or desire. We like being one of kind with our designs, though we’re delighted to get custom or specific requests, too. We are willing to create monthly boxes with theme ideas.

We carry our Magickal Sabbat Boxes, which are 3 – 4 types of boxes for celebrating 8 Wiccan Sabbats. They are designed as opportunities for you and your family to experience 1 of the Wiccan sacred Sabbat with us.

Comfort Goddess, for many women, at times, they need someone to guide them on their path. Though we vary from different parts of the world, and many have chosen so many different beliefs, we are all women created by the Goddess. I thought to create for someone who many women could lean on for support at any age. From a girl having her 1st blood moon, to a beautiful mother with 2 children snuggled next to her, to a wise grandmother accepting her role as crone.

Brigid Heart pocket charms boxes, these may be small, but think how a worry pocket charm can help guide you with these little words of wisdom, to lighten your day and inspire you to find the best in life.

PPO: Is yours a recurring monthly box?

NGC: Not now, we hope to soon. We would love to create a custom monthly box of any of our unique fun filled boxes. If anyone is interested in them, I’d tell them to send a private message to my boutique or Facebook. Our magickal Sabbat boxes,we were excited to just have created Yule & Imbolc. would make great recurring monthly boxes. Come explore our boutique for unique magickal boxes that can fit in your busy lifestyle to invite a little magick in your life.

PPO: Did you feel the pagan world was missing something to make you create your boxes?

NGC: Yes, there’s so much stuff out there for Wiccan and pagan beliefs. We wanted to stand out from the rest. Many of my clients are from various backgrounds of Wiccan and Pagan Beliefs. We cater to everyone from the novice to the more experienced. We love to show them they can create many blessings in life if they choose to look within themselves. We like a challenge to approach, and show our thoughts to help guide your journey to magick in life.

PPO: Do you sell other types of products?

NGC: Why yes we do, come celebrate Yule with us. While you do you will discover new spells, Goddesses, pendulums, unique bindrunes. We have various crystals and gemstones. Creative worksheets to teach and keep you organized. Fill your empty shelves with unique handmade gifts and jewelry. We have something to fit all your personal holiday and Ritual needs throughout the year.

PPO: On a personal note, what interests do you have?

NGC: Well that’s rather a long list..(laughing out loud.)

Well me and husband (Robert) have similar likes: rock hunting. We had a blast at Crystal Park, Montana harvesting our crystals for home and boutique this past summer. Creating jewelry, Wiccan handmade gifts, dragons, fairies, making pendulums and doing tarot readings. Reading books. Spending time with my 2 active children Gabriel, 6yrs and little Trinity, 1 1/2 yr old. We live your average family lifestyle, with a lil Magick and Goddess tucked inside.

PPO: Are you pagan? Can you tell us a little about yourself?

NGC: I’m Wiccan and so is my hubby. We’ve been practicing since we were teens. My style follows my spiritual path and what comes to mind. I live in a small rural town, Paris, Idaho with my husband, 2 hyper Children and a gang of critters. I now own my unique jewelry designing business for over 17yrs. I love to create new designs by looking at nature & cultural ideas for my Jewelry. Now I sell Metaphysical items. Unique 1 of kind designs.

PPO: Is there anything else you would like to share with our readers?

NGC: Why yes. Thank you for this opportunity to speak with us and learn about my little Metaphysical Boutique and spread the word about us. Blessings of love and light.

I’d like to thank Norma G. Clark for the wonderful interview and information on ForevrGoddess Boutique.

I’m going to add a personal note here… I can not help but feel like the Goddess Box was picked especially for me. I had no clue what boxes we were getting to review. I did not know we were getting this many or what we were getting. During the process of receiving items for the column you speak with business owners briefly.  Exchange some information that is needed such as addresses and interview questions.  During one of our Pre Boxes Being Sent conversations Norma from ForevrGoddess told me she just knows by speaking to people what they need… I believe she has a real talent. My free gifts, that are private, were picked for me, and they talked to me, directly. As this box did. I must admit, I am very impressed by ForevrGoddess Boutique, and especially by Norma.

Review of Spiritual Wake’s Mystery Witch Box

(logo for Spiritual Wake)

Spiritual Wake is an Etsy shop that offers a Mystery Witch Box for $15.00 plus Etsy calculates exact shipping to your zip code. This box is not a reoccurring, monthly subscription, but rather a one time purchase. You pay a one time fee for 1 box. Each Mystery Witch Box contains different items, such as, spells, books, jewelry, herbs, and more. You will receive 4 or more items depending on the value of each item in every box.  Each box is unique and different.

PaganPagesOrg has received a Mystery Witch Box to review this month.

How it Arrives…

(Package the Mystery Witch Box arrived in.)

The box is a plain, nondescript brown box.  You get complete anonymity in the mail from the simple box. There are no pagan markings or symbols on the box. This is great for those who need the obscurity.

As Soon as you Open the Box…

(Box when first opened.)

A wonderful smell almost assaults you. You could not smell this wonderful aroma when the box was closed. It’s like, a surprise for your nose!  All you see is a folded piece of paper with glittering strands behind it.

What you See First…

(Glitter, contents, & instructions.)

As soon as you open the box you find the instructions on the top and they explain everything you will find in the box. Every item is listed, with directions on how to use them. They, also give ingredients to the bathbombs, which is helpful for those with allergies.

Right below the instructions, as you can see in the picture, the box is filled with strands of glitter. With this Mystery Witch Box, searching through the glitter for the hidden items is part of the fun!! Rummaging around with your hands trying to find what surprise is next. So what did we pull out first?

Red Candle…

(Red Candle)

The Red Candle is a wonderfully, full, thick votive. It is vibrant, deep red. The smell that comes from it is wonderful. Making the whole package aromatic. It is not a small cheap candle. It feels solid, dense.

Mala Bracelet…

(Mala Bracelet)

The Mala Bracelet is very cute. Made from plastic beads on elastic cord and stretches to fit all sizes.

Spell Bottle & Carnelian Stone…

(Spell Bottle & Carnelian Stone)

The spell bottle is an adorable size and the carnelian stone is very pretty. The directions included are very clear on what you can do with the spell kit. It says, specifically, what this spell kit is for. The instructions give you a few suggestions on spells you can do with the kit or leaves it open for workings of your own on the topic the kit was created & charged for.

The Rough Apatite & Labradorite…

(Rough Apatite & Labradorite)

The Rough Apatite & Labradorite are each a very good size. I would call them both “Chunks”. They are nice as altar decorations or home decorations. Good additions to anyone’s stone collections. I think the instructions, or maybe another sheet, should have given the meanings for them.

Bathbombs…

(Bathbombs)

These are a free gift. Who doesn’t like free gifts. Bathbombs are a nice, relaxing treat and they were unexpected. They came in cute shapes, especially love the stars, and cool colors.

(Bathbomb packaging)

However, I did feel the appearance of the bathbombs packaging may have taken away from the overall appearance of the box. Maybe placing them in an organza bag or similar would represent them better. I do understand that this would, however, add cost to the amount of the box.

(Full contents)

Since most of this box was not handmade, I scrutinized the cost of every item inside and added up what I thought was fair for the labor for the items that were handmade. After all my calculations, I feel this box is worth the price it is listed for. She did under-price herself on shipping on this one box and I hope that is an error.

The contents have a very nice overall appearance. My one issue was the packaging of the free gift, but that was insignificant. The glitter is cute and makes it like a party in a box.

The price is not expensive.  We would get another to see what goodies we would get next time!!  This box is Worth the Witch and PaganPagesOrg can stand behind this company.

So who is behind Spiritual Wake? and, where does she get her ideas?

Her name is Veronika Frederick and she spent a little time with us at PaganPagesOrg…

PaganPagesOrg: Tell us a little about yourself.
Veronika Frederick: I am Veronika Frederick an Egyptian based Pagan obsessed with cats. I began my journey as a kid inspired from things like Charmed and Practical Magic. I eventually fled an abusive relationship and began my shop as a way to regain control in my life and to help others. I sell a variety of jewelry, self care, and Pagan items. I live happily in Michigan and love the lake. I really hope that my shop can inspire courage, and good vibes.
PPO: Where are you from?
VF: I was born in Utah and lived there through elementary school, then spent my teens in Illinois and majority of my twenties have been here in Michigan. I am in love with Lake Huron.
PPO: What type of Witch are you, yourself?
VF: That’s tough, Eclectic Kemetic is likely the closest term. I personally believe and incorporate Ancient Egyptian Deities. However I do not mimic their way of religion. I’m very earth based. Overall though I tend to think I am just a crazy cat lady witch.
PPO: What are some of your interests?
VF: Anyone who knows me would all say my thing is CATS. I’m an intense cat mom, protective, and loving. My familiar is one of my cats her name is Ingrid and she works closely with me for anything that is shop related. She is the happiest, purr machine out there. I show her as one of my helpers on my etsy page, have her in photo shoots. (So I would recommend anyone really allergic to cats avoid my shop.) I’m eternally grateful that I ended up with Ingrid.
PPO: What do you feel the Pagan community is missing?
VF: Animal rights. Might sound a little odd, but there have been so many abusive and terrible things done to animals it makes my stomach churn. So I try to really show how to be a strong pet parent. Whenever I have spare $ I donate food to the animal shelters, and I sign petitions. I feel very strongly that animals need to be protected from the cruelty of people, and deeply wish more people, not just Pagans, would sort of pick up that fight also. I have also rescued a lot of cats and dogs, since I was kid up until now. Ingrid is a rescue.
PPO: What brought the idea of a Mystery Box to you?
VF: I wish I could say something original, but actually I had ordered a witch box from another shop found myself disappointed and just ended up deciding I would do something better. I actually didn’t introduce this item until late spring if I remember right.
PPO: How did you begin?
VF: Well the boxes began with using old witch bottle jewelry I had made for a fair, then adding in some crystals, from there it’s … left a mystery. The shop though did begin as a way to regain control in my life, and to feel stronger. Something I try to incorporate in all aspects of my shop is self-empowerment and courage. My journey to Paganism started as a kid, but the shop was born from struggle. I left an abusive relationship, and it was messy, long process. I felt like any moment the entire world could crumble in, so I did what I have done all my life I turned to something creative that kept my hands busy.
PPO: How do you chose what to include?
VF: I work off of inventory, creativeness, and what supplies I have stored up. This ranges from homemade spells, sigils I make, to jewelry, and crystals. Each box has several items, usually whatever I feel inspired towards for that order. Depending on value the number of items can vary, anywhere from 4 or more items.

PPO: What other types of things do you sell in Spiritual Wake?
VF: I sell bracelets, necklaces, earrings, small pdf books, mystery witch box, and bath bombs/shower melts (I actually have been meaning to add more to the shop just haven’t had the time yet).
I’d like to thank Veronika Frederick for taking time from her busy schedule to talk with us at PaganPagesOrg.
