The Wiccan Path

Happy New Year Everyone! This year, 2019 is a number “3” year (add 2+0+1+9=12/ 1+2 =3); a year of change and creation. Three is the number of trinity’s harmony. From the relationship and collaboration of two a third is created; the totality of its sum of parts. This may take the form of fulfilling and creating what you desire most, creating a new passion fueled by a latent wish, putting into action what you’ve been yearning to do as you create the product of those efforts.

In keeping with this creative approach I am revisiting and sharing the online course I wrote in 2014, to serve as the stimulus for those interested in Wicca and earth-centered practices and creating a path of their own. Please enjoy this excerpt and many blessings for a fabulous New “creational” Year!!

Excerpted from “A Year and A Day on the Wiccan Path”…..

The Wiccan Path is one of initiatory experience. Each step taken upon this path leads towards greater understanding of your own Divine nature, which in turn brings a greater understanding of the natural world and the Divinity that exists around you. By definition, initiation is an act that sets in motion some course of events. In the case of a spiritual pursuit, initiation opens the seeker to embracing their spiritual nature as a support and foundation to their mundane nature. The spiritual path of a Wiccan (Witch) is one filled with the beauty of the natural world and the mystery of the world within each of us. The path leads to the subtle realms of the astral – the far reaches of the cosmos – and the shadows that lay hidden and buried within each of us. We practice the Craft of the Wise, which in ancient times was the gifts of the healers and the seers whose ability to see far and wide and enter so completely into alliance with the physical natural world was depended upon to ensure viable crops, healthy livestock, fertility and a sustainable life for those in whom the wise lived. In ancient times the knowledge was carefully passed in the style of oral tradition, the mysteries given ear to ear hand to hand. Although many of those traditions, rituals and wise ways are lost to the modern practitioner of Wicca, many of the core principles remain, having evolved just as we as a people have evolved, become modernized and have at our fingertips ways of communicating large volumes of information. The information provided in this course of study barely scratches the surface of what is a uniquely complex and diverse spiritual path and that to a large degree can only superficially claim its heritage in the ancient practices of which we truly know so little. Wicca is rooted in the experiential, and is a way of life that is not limited by lack of sacred space, tools or financial resources. From the Wiccan perspective, all of the natural world is sacred space and the greatest tool of working is our physical nature holding the pure essence of each individual’s Divine spirit that is priceless in

Ritual and Celebration

Wiccans use ancient and modern ceremonies, rituals and shamanic practices to attune themselves to the natural rhythms of nature, the world, and the universe as a way to commune with this divine force. In particular, the lives and daily activities of the ancient peoples were very much dependent upon and intertwined with the position of the sun and the agricultural cycles that were dependent upon movement throughout the year. The Witch’s Wheel of the Year is a reflection of those needs. The calling forth of the Light of the newly birthed Sun at the time of the Winter Solstice ensured that there would be a new cycle of planting, sowing and reaping the much needed harvest for continued life.

The Sabbats (Solar Celebrations) of the Wiccan year are eight in number. Four correspond to the astronomical transitions of the equinoxes and the solstices. These are the Vernal (Ostara) and Autumnal Equinoxes (Mabon) and the Winter (Yule) and Summer (Litha) Solstices. The other Four, or cross quarter days are those that mark the time between the equinoxes and solstices. These were the dates of celebration of the progression through the changing of the seasons and the preparations for the times of transit from one season to the next. These are Samhain (the Witch’s New Year) – Imbolc (February 1) – Beltaine (May 1st) and Lammas (August 1st).

There are many overlays that are associated with these Sabbats, the most prominent being the cycle of the God and Goddess as they move through the stages of birth- fertility- harvest and death. In this way, the physical world and the Divine world were mirror reflections and the offering of devotion and celebration of one ensured the continuation of the other.

Deity

The God, Lugh and The Goddess, Brighid

Depending upon one’s point of view, Wicca can be considered a monotheistic, duotheistic, polytheistic, henotheistic religion.

Wicca is monotheistic (belief in a single deity): Some Wiccans recognize a single supreme being, sometimes called “The All” or “The One.” The Goddess and God are viewed as the female and male aspects of this single deity.
• Wicca is duotheistic (belief in two deities; a.k.a. rarely as bitheistic): Wiccans often worship a female Goddess and a male God, often called the Lady and Lord.
• Wicca is polytheistic (belief in many deities): Many Wiccans recognize the existence of many ancient Gods and Goddesses, including but certainly not limited to: Aphrodite, emis, Briget, Diana, Dionysius, Fergus, Hecate, Isis, Pan, Thor, etc.
• Wicca is henotheistic (belief in a single main deity among many): Many Wiccans view the many ancient deities as being aspects of the Lady and Lord, and view the latter as the male and female aspects of “The One.”

(excerpted from: http://www.religioustolerance.org)

There is no right or wrong to any of the beliefs above. The underlying principle is that of polarity and the belief that there is both the masculine and feminine Divine principle within all living beings. This approach to deity supports the belief in the immanence of the Divine. That the qualities of Deity exist within all of life, and that through acknowledgement and embracing of this inherent birthright, that Divinity may become transcendent in nature.

The Natural World

WICCA is considered a nature-based religion. The environment and those things that comprise the manifest world including animals, plants, minerals are considered sacred and part of the Divine web of interconnectedness. Many Wiccans are involved in environmental activities and feel it a natural part of their spiritual practice to recycle and live lightly on Mother Earth. The use and knowledge of herbs and their medicinal properties is often undertaken gladly as a study of practice and it is not unusual to find many Wiccans attracted to professions where healing modalities can be performed. Animals are considered companions and treated with the same care, love and respect

that would be afforded another human. Human and animal rights, environmental issues and preservation of our natural resources are all a focus of those following a Wiccan Path of spirituality.

The Cosmos

The ancients were limited to what could be seen with the naked eye or what mystical inferences could be gathered from what was overtly presented and the myths that were created as result. Structures were built in accord with the movement of the sun (Stonehenge and the Great Pyramid) that aligned with specific seasonal events and astrology had its beginnings in predicting certain outcomes and points of focus based on what could be observed in the heavens.

The scientific breakthroughs showing the similarities in or own physical constitution and that of the geology of our planet, as well as the stars and planets links us to our own stellar nature and the desire for access to weaving that universal magick of that starseed into all of our endeavors. According to scientist, Carl Sagan, the carbon, nitrogen and oxygen atoms in our bodies, as well as atoms of all other heavy elements, were created in previous generations of stars over 4.5 billion years ago.

One of the things that has not changed is that of the celebration and worship of the Moon and her energies and attributions within a Wiccan practice. The lunar tides are seen as the domain of the Goddess and the feminine energies. The planets and the magick woven with their energies extend the reach of practical magick into the realms of space and time continuum. And, the increasing awareness of our place within the vastness of the Cosmos provides a richly layered perspective for those of the Craft.

Version 2.9.3

App Release date is Jan. 7, 2014

I downloaded this app June 5, 2018. This is a cool Tarot app. It is free to download, but you can go VIP and get more from the app. I didn’t do that.

Just downloading the app as it is, you get a choice of 8 different Tarot decks. The cards are pictured in HD Quality. You can also hook your phone up to your computer with a USB cable and download your cards to the app. It has 16 different spreads to pick from, or you can develop your own.

I set up the app with a daily reminder for a card for the day. I would do that, with the reminder, then I would also do a weekly reading and a daily three card draw. Each time I would pick different cards for the reading.

Each card has information including Astrology, Numerology, Elements, Colors, Esoteric Title, Intelligence, Correspondence in the Hebrew Alphabet, Position in the Kabbalistic tree of life, and more. I enjoyed reading the card meanings by Rider-Waite, A.E Thierens, and P.D. Ouspensky. Some of these added to what I already knew of the Tarot.

There is even an option in VIP that allows you to compare cards with each other, and that is something I didn’t get. I was happy with what I had in the app.

The only drawbacks were in the saving or the emailing of the reading. When you saved the reading, it kept all the information for that reading. I tried doing the email reading, where you pulled the cards and then had them emailed to you, and not all the information came through. It sent a picture of the cards to download into Google, and it only included Color, element, astrology, dates, esoteric title, intelligence, Kabbalah, Tree of Life, numerology, keywords, Rider-Waite meanings and then it was a brief two sentence meaning with a few keywords. So, saving it to the phone was better for this app.

Book Review: Tarot For Your Self, A Workbook for Personal Transformation (Second Edition) by Mary K. Greer

Book Review

Tarot For Your Self, A Workbook for Personal Transformation (Second Edition)

by Mary K. Greer

To me, any Tarot book written by Mary K. Greer needs attention, and Tarot for Your Self, 2nd Edition: A Workbook for Personal Transformation is no exception. Tarot For Your Self is published by New Page , a division of The Career Press, Inc, Pompton Plains, NJ; it is a 7”by 10” paperback with a glossy color cover and contains 298 pages of nicely-sized typeface printed on white paper.

This is not a typical how-to-read-the-Tarot book. Tarot For Your Self does not only present card images, keywords and sample interpretations. Not that there are no correspondences or meanings offered at all (Appendix A has all that great Little White Book information, with upright and reversed meanings, an affirmation, and questions to be answered for each card), but rather the meat of Greer’s workbook offers great suggestions, explanations, and exercises focused on learning to integrate crystals, pendulums, visualizations, affirmations, numerology, astrology, self-exploration, rituals and meditations into our Tarot practices.

There is a chapter that offers new ways to get to know the cards of the Tarot, and new ways to use the cards for personal exploration. There is a chapter that focuses on getting to know and understand the personalities of the Court Cards. Another chapter takes familiar spreads and breaks them down so that a Tarot reader can make use of useful variations of even a simple three card spread. Greer even addresses yes-no and either-or questions in this chapter.

Throughout the book, along with the many charts and correspondence lists, meditations and visualizations, images and descriptions of a myriad of spreads to fit any circumstance imaginable, are valuable exercises that help a reader to see the cards in new ways and experience how the meanings of the cards can directly connect to and explain our own life experiences. Like any workbook, there is space within each of those exercises for us to record results and descriptions of experiences we may have while doing the exercises. At the end of each chapter is a list of suggested reading connected to the information provided in that chapter.

Besides the information about the individual cards in the Appendix, there is also a history of the Tarot and some theories regarding its origin, and a very useful correspondences chart.

What I like about Tarot For Your Self is that it offers many useful tools that allow us to use our Tarot cards for self-discovery and self-healing. There are exercises for dealing with depression, clarifying relationships, and clarifying money issues. There are meditations for relaxing and grounding. There are descriptions of rituals for purifying your cards, and descriptions of how to formulate a question and how to interpret reversed cards within a spread.

In Tarot For Your Self, Mary K. Greer has created a book that can help new readers to get a glimpse of how much information a Tarot card can offer, and that can help more seasoned readers to tap into the personalities of the cards in order to tell the story of a spread. Here is a workbook that does not require us to memorize keywords but rather encourages us to do the exercises and journal our own unique experiences in order to become personally acquainted with the cards of the Tarot. This is a classic that has stood the test of time, and has something to offer to new readers and longtime Tarot enthusiasts alike.

A Great Little Book About Numerology

One of my first articles for Pagan Pages was a little essay about numerology. I wrote it on my fifty-third birthday, since I generally check my “numbers” for the coming year on my birthday. (I also do it on New Year’s Day, but that’s a more generalized reading). This year is a 7 year for me – which to a Tarot person like me says the Chariot – which says to me that I’ll be on the move, in one way or another – either a physical move to another place or some kind of esoteric move that rocks my world. Or maybe both!

NumerologyCover

Recently, our wonderful editor, Jennifer Sacasa-Wright, sent me a bunch of books about various divination methods – over the next few months, I’ll be reading them and reviewing them. Since the timing is so perfect, I decided to read Numerology: Plain & Simple, by Anne Christie, which is part of the “Plain & Simple Series” published by Hampton Roads. The book boasts on both the cover and the title page that it’s “The Only Book You’ll Ever Need” – which can always be debated, especially among those of us who live to collect books – but I must say if you had to have only one book about Numerology, this would be the book to have.

Many years ago, when I was first learning about the Tarot, I naturally read books about numerology, since the Tarot is a numbered system of divination – as well as a pictorial one – and I wanted to know the way numbers worked. Most of the books I read on numerology were very superficial and stupid. I think one was subtitled, “Love is in the numbers!” or maybe that was its actual title. But I read everything. I took notes and I tried to apply my knowledge when I could.

It wasn’t until I read Mary K. Greer’s Tarot for Yourself: A Workbook for Personal Transformation that I started using numerology on a regular basis. And it was only using birth numbers. But her method gave me a way of seeing myself, my friends and family, and the world around me. I learned how to chart my life using numerology and Tarot cards – it’s interesting to see how the same lessons need to be learned over and over again.

Anne Christie uses the letter-number method. She provides a chart which goes from 1 to 9 and the letters are arranged in order underneath the numbers. Thus, A is 1 and I is 9 and M is 4 and Z is 8.

Numerology1

One of the main questions is what name do you use? I’m the kind of person who uses all of my names, because I firmly believe that I am represented by all of those identities. Plus, it’s fun! So here’s my everyday name of Polly MacDavid (7+6+3+3+7+4+1+3+4+1+4+9+4=65/11/2)

All the numbers add up to 65, which reduces to 11, which is a power number. 11’s are always coming up in my life, anyway. 11’s and therefore, 2’s. 2 refers to personal feeling and are feminine. Their aura is dark green and their vibrational energy are the emotions. 2 is the number of the Moon. Its energy is caring and its sign is Cancer. Its keyword is feelings.

But if I use the name on my birth certificate – which adds a middle name – that changes the numbers so that they add up to 69 and reduce to 15 and then to 6. Which is Taurus, imagination, harmony, home, the planet Venus.

Plain old Polly adds up to 26, which reduces to 8. Plain old Polly is practical and persistent. Her vibration is the planet Pluto (brrr!). But she is self-sufficient and ambitious.

Anne Christie also has methods for choosing your personality number and your heart number. For your personality number, you use only the consonants in your first name; for your heart number, you use only the vowels. Imagine my surprise when I saw that the consonants and the vowel in my first name both added up to 13! Of course, that reduces to 4 but I was dumbfounded. I just love playing with letters and numbers like this.

She also has a way of checking your year number, using your birth numbers. According to her, the 7 year that I am going to be experiencing this coming year is going to be about relaxation and rest. Although I will be traveling – she said short trips – and not to “spend too much time worrying about the material aspects of my life this year” (95) – HA! That’s really funny. Well I guess I don’t need to worry about what I don’t have anyway, right?

There’s also a way to figure out what a particular month or day is going to be like. For instance, my personal number this coming year is going to 7. If I want to know what July is going to be like, I add 7 and 7 (since July is the seventh month), and get 14 and reduce it to 5. So what are 5’s like? They’re ruled by Jupiter, they’re about tolerance and expansion, their symbol is the Archer, and keywords are education, travel and creativity. You can do this for the day of the week or even the hour of the day. You have to use the 24-hour clock for predicting the hour of the day but it’s interesting to think in those terms. Each hour having its own personality and vibration.

The last thing she talks about is the Pythagorean number grid. I remember Pythagoras from high school mathematics and even number grids but this is something completely different. Christie says that this is “the simplest method” (138) but often the simplest methods are the best ones.

Numerology2

After reading what she writes about the grid – the meanings of the numbers and their placement on the grid – I studied the grid itself. It seemed to me that it was a handy little meditation tool in and of itself. The numbers in each square and the lines of the grid work together in a very magical way.

This is really a fabulous little book. I highly recommend it. It says $14.95 on the back cover but there’s so many discount places on the internet nowadays, I am sure if you look around, you can probably find it for much less. And who knows? Maybe your local library can locate it for you. Check it out!

Until next month, Brightest Blessings!

Numerology

Numerology is the study of numbers, and the manner in which they reflect certain character tendencies, as an integral part of the cosmic plan. Each letter has a numeric value that provides a related cosmic vibration. The sum of the numbers in your birth date and the sum of value derived from the letters in the name provide an interrelation of vibrations. These numbers show a great deal about character, purpose in life, what motivates, and where talents may lie. Experts in numerology use the numbers to determine the best time for major moves and activities in life. Numerology is used to decide when to invest, when to marry, when to travel, when to change jobs, or relocate.

Pythagoras, the Greek mathematician who lived from 569-470 B.C., is said by many to be the originator of much of what we call numerology today. The actual origins of numerology predate Pythagoras, the most popular being from the Hindu Vedas. In the twentieth century, the old science seems to magically reappear in the form of a series of books published from 1911-1917 by L. Dow Balliett and it was helped along in the 30’s by Florence Campbell, and within the next few decades a wealth of literature was available to the public. Indeed, if you look at the past 90 years, it would seem that the science has moved very rapidly. But perhaps all of this was known at a much earlier time, and it was just hiding from us for a while.

Number Sequences From Our Spirit Guides

Our Spirit Guides are assigned to us from birth, and, whether we realise it or not, guide us and advise us in our daily lives. They wish us to develop and grow, personally and spiritually, so that we can reach our full potential, find our true natures, and find our place in the world. Our Spirit Guides want to open communication with us, to establish a dialogue, so that guidance, advice and answers are readily provided and understood at the right time. The most common way our Spirit Guides begin to open communications with us is through number sequences; in ancient times it would have been something else, like seeing a particular type of bird or other animal, but in the modern digital age, surrounded by numbers everywhere we look, Spirit Guides are using number sequences to communicate. We have found that this is the first way our Spirit Guides try to communicate with us, as we cannot ignore seeing a number sequence if it is being shown to us everywhere we look and everywhere we go; and numbers are so prevalent in the modern world.

Our Spirit Guides communicate number sequences in many ways. One way is that they will gently draw your attention toward a certain direction so that you’ll look up or turn around in time to notice the clock’s time or a phone number on a billboard. Your Spirit Guides will continue to show you a sign until you take notice and say, “OK, this is weird! What does this number sequence mean?!” For example, you may see 1111 or 1212 every time you look at a clock, or be driving past a billboard and always be drawn to look at the 555 that is part of the telephone number.

Another way in which Spirit Guides show you meaningful number sequences is by physically arranging for, say, a car to drive in front of you that has a specific license plate number they want you to see. Those who are aware of this phenomenon become adept at reading the meaning of number sequences. Your Spirit Guides can provide guidance, advice and answers to any question you may ask, however important or mundane. For example, you could see the 333 sign when thinking about whether to have Pizza or Fried Chicken for dinner; or you could see the 333 sign when thinking about quitting your job – it can be any question whatsoever! Remember, do not look for signs or avoid them, as they will find you at the right time regardless of your efforts; they happen naturally.

Over many years of communication with, and confirmation by, our Spirit Guides, the Spiritual-Path. com Team has recorded all of the signs we use to guide our lives and our journey on the Spiritual Path, and these number sequence signs are listed below. Our copyrighted sign interpretations are not a reproduction of other works, interpretations, studies or research projects, they have been provided by our Spirit Guides and are the result of many years of our own research and a scientific methodology-based analysis to decipher their meaning, followed by rigorous testing to prove their accuracy.

There are no hard and fast rules for number sequences; thousands of people have found the answers they seek using our interpretations, but there were also some that didn’t. Just as there are many religions, there are many interpretations of number sequences. All religions are a path to God and to a better understanding of Life and yourself; if there was one set religion that was ordained as the ‘right’ one, there would only be one religion, but there isn’t (although, many religions do presume to state that their religion is ‘the one true religion’!). In the same vein, there is no cosmic law that states, “These are the number sequence interpretations!” Our Spirit Guides have shown us these number sequences and we have spent many years deciphering their meaning through systematic scientific analysis. We have studied, analysed, refined and concluded our interpretations, and have found that they advise and guide us consistently and accurately in our lives. But, like religion, you are free to choose the path that suits you best; if you feel another interpretation works for you, you are free to use it.

If you wish, you could create a list of your own number sequence interpretations with which to receive guidance, advice and answers from your Spirit Guides, because the Spiritual Path is an individual journey, and you can use whichever method you wish to receive that guidance; your Spirit Guides will know immediately how you are interpreting a particular sign and will start using that interpretation to communicate with you. However, if you choose to use our interpretations, your Spirit Guides will use these instead. The benefit of using our interpretations is that you will not have to work out the interpretations for yourself, saving you a lot of time and stress; and you will also benefit from the ease of having a list of interpretations ready-to-hand.

Why do we use a limited set of number sequences? The number sequences we use are specific and succinct enough to deliver all the guidance, advice and answers our Spirit Guides provide, and we feel that using any more would cause confusion when discerning what is a sign and what isn’t.
Using too many could make virtually every sequence of numbers seen a sign; many would conflict and contradict one another, and we would find it difficult to get clear guidance – which can be very frustrating! The number sequences we use, successfully:

in the short term with the ‘Common Number Sequences’
in the medium term with the ‘Signs in Unity with Astrological Influences’
in the long term with the ‘Signs on the Spiritual Path’

Upon seeing signs from one of these groups, we can easily distinguish whether it relates to short, medium or long term guidance, helping us to keep the guidance within the context in which it is given, and apply it to the short, medium or long term only.

Common Number Sequences

111 – This sign is used to indicate that your thoughts are related to the start of a new cycle in your life. What you are thinking about doing or changing is correct for the new phase of your life.

222 – This is a sign of confirmation that you are on the right path, doing the right thing and going in the right direction. Continue with this train of thought.

444 – This sign from your Spirit Guides signifies their disagreement with your thoughts and feelings and can be interpreted as a Cosmic ‘No!’ to questions you have asked or ideas you may have.

555 – When you see this sign a life changing thought or event has just occurred. You may not like it, or you may. Whatever the case your Spirit Guides are notifying you that a change in your life path direction has just occurred and it is time for you to change too. Move with it, follow these thoughts.

000 – Unity with the Universe. Your thoughts are in Unity with the Universe. This sign indicates that your thoughts are in Unity with the Divine Wish for your life.

Signs in Unity with Astrological Influences

These signs are like road markings Spirit Guides use to keep us on the right path and prevent us straying down the wrong one. This sign is the opposite of 121, 1221, etc. and advises that your focus has strayed off your Spiritual Path. This can be expressed simply as, ‘You’re not following your path!’.

171, 1771, 1717, 7711, 1177 – These signs indicate that a lesson had been learnt on your Spiritual Path. You have learnt a lesson that your Spirit Guides want you to learn, one that is important and is necessary for you to progress on your path.

The phase may or may not have come to an actual end at the time of seeing these signs, but, if you follow the thoughts you have at the time of seeing this sign, this phase will come to a complete end.

Other Number Sequences

1234, 234, 456 – If you are repeatedly seeing ascending number sequences such as 1234, this is a sign from your Spirit Guides that these are progressive thoughts. You will see this sign when thinking about an area of your life that you are concerned about and want to change, or thinking about a particular subject. Seeing this number sequence immediately after these thoughts is a sign that your thoughts are progressive; your life will progress by following these thoughts and you will have your Spirit Guides support in its pursuit.

321, 432, 543 – If you are repeatedly seeing descending number sequences such as 321, this is a sign from your Spirit Guides that your thoughts are regressive. You will see this sign when you are thinking about an area of you life, course of action or subject. Seeing this number sequence immediately after such thoughts is an indication that your life will take a step backwards if you follow the course of action you are considering or continuing with such a train of thought.

Introduction to Numerology

Numerical symbols for counting have been around since the very creation of man to mark the means of organization. The dawn of man has brought forth a new meaning to numbers in counting with politics, sports, construction, and other major forms of civilization impacting cornerstones. The ancient Greeks themselves used numbers to help describe the world while Pythagoras used his method, the Pythagorean Method, to assist those in a deeper understanding of these symbols of value as he gave them a new life, yet he was not the first. The Hebrew people themselves have their own methods in deciphering the will of God in the form of the Kabblah using a systems called the Temura, Notariqan, and Gemetria. Aleister Crowley wrote many books and papers on this material of mixing numbers and spirituality and his former student, Israel Regardie, complied his Kabbalistic works as he called the 777 and other Kabbalistic Works of Aliester Crowley. Even in the form of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn magick these three Hebrew methods were mandatory for all members to learn in their magical journey. In the study of the Kabbalah it says there were 22 letters of Creation, thus later influencing the tarot’s major arcana with the letter. These forms of numerology used in tarot used on the Ceremonial Magick path marks the he first key of The Fool card and used the letter Aleph the ox in Hebrew and is represented by the air in astrology, amazingly enough the magicians of past used the number 0 to represent the connection to the Ain Soph in the Fool, or God, instead of the limited 1. This carries the concept “out of nothing comes something”; this would  also encompass the idea of the big bang theory of 0 as well, meaning a sphere of matter explodes out of nowhere causing the expansion of the universe we live in today.  These are one of many books that will assist you for your quest to relate numbers to the spiritual, this is truly a tough task to the untrained eye, but well worth it. The whole idealism as the reason why we turned to numerology is diagnosed to the fact we see numbers all around us and wish to see a deeper meaning in our lives, destiny, and hidden secrets or qualities we may have never expected to find within ourselves, much like the great magicians and philosophers of the past did before our time.

The method I will be utilizing is one that is sound and easy as a whisper to the ears in the modern era, though it is much more limited then other methods. The will be the Pythagorean numbering technique for all of your ways of finding your soul urge number, destiny, karmic number, and all these primary numbers to knowing who you are inside. The Pythagorean method is the easiest of all the methods to perform, however, it is not for everyone. There is an alternative method that was used during the dark ages by magicians called the Chaldean method and this is a bit more tedious to study and learn, but in some cases will give you the answers you might not accept in your mind with the Pythagorean method. I will display them the further you read before the entire lesson on the classification of numbers. The Hebrew method is more difficult then the last two methods, but is more closely related to the connection with God or the AIN SOPH in these numbers.

The positive aspects of the method I will be using are focus around the lack of sophistication of learning another language and getting your letters confused when converting them to the numerical values. The the ease of the Pythagorean technique the basics will be more the easy to learn, even your child can learn these courses without thinking with this very method. I have done a lot of magical experimentation with numerology that has been very affective with the Pythagorean Method. I would take one of the nine meaning and make sure all my letters would add up to the proper number so the goddess of Pallas Athene realizes the efforts I apply to my True Will through all the knowledge I fight to gain. I will admit by far, magically, this method is the second most affective for me in success rate. If this can work for me it can most definitely work for you as well. The negatives in the Pythagorean method and Chaldean method are both very limited by the fact there are only the numbers one through nine, which will give you are very limited meaning to what you are looking for in yourself, so I personally choose the ways of the old Judaism magicians. In my personal opinion there are always more then 9 answers. During the time the Pythagoras way of counting was in tact with the Greeks there was a number missing, zero. Many of the modern numerologists now use the number zero to the Hebrew definition or with the tarot meaning, unity with God. So this method to me is one of the most effective and changing everyday to match our very needs to find ourselves and inner peace.

Numerology itself has it’s own taste and art that is somewhat opposite to the conclusion used in regular mathematics used in school. As an example I will use the name Bob, it adds up to 10. Standard mathematics this stays as 10, but in numerology we add a twist! If 10 was the final say in the name we add 1+0= 1. We do this due to the fact we keep numbers in the one through nine. The numbers we will not change are the master numbers on the other hand. The master numbers are 11, 22, 33, 44, and so on. These numbers carry a special power by adding the double resonance of the same number, but there is a lot more risk involved when you have a power number and can completely be your downfall, I should know I have 11 in my first name and 33 in my last name; so you will realize you have to keep yourself in check in some parts of your life the equation represents. When I write these numbers I will also but the addition with breaking the master numbers down though it is not traditionally done, so the equation of 11 would look like this 11/2 or 1+1=2.  The next set of numbers for the lecture is the karmic dept numbers or the number that represents something have not experienced in a past life. These number are  13/3, 14/5, 16/7. and 19/1. The karmic dept numbers are not recommended not to be broken down as well. These numbers represent what will or has happened to you in which you have to take and learn from in order to prosper. Particularly these numbers can give you warning signs on what obstacle you have to embrace for in the future.

Numbers, Letters, and their meaning in the Pythagorean Method of Counting

1= A, J, S and means Independence

2= B, K, T and means Partnership

3= C, L, U and means artistry

4= D, M, V and means Builder

5= E, N, W, and means Seeker

6= F, O, X and means Roots/Home

7= G, P, Y and means Sacred Quest

8= H, Q, Z and means Wealth/Visionary

9= I, R and means Transformation

At this point I feel like I must make it clear that the numbers one through nine are very vague like I said before, but the gods and goddesses themselves keep information vague so we can find our very own path. So when the deities in the celestial heavens allowed this system, along with many other divine numbering systems of divinity, they kept them lacking detail so we can learn about ourselves and solve the riddle of life on own. I do not want to feel like just just because eight is your destiny number that you should be entitled to being a millionaire and on that note just because numerology dictates it. The number eight could merely mean you have many ideas that are used on a small scale to help you gain wealth in terms “emotional” or “spiritual” wealth. Everyone has their very own meaning of wealth and the gods will only accompany you with their meaning of wealth on your destiny. So take the information with a grain of salt in this case, find out what these numbers mean to you, and come up with your own views. The goal of this class is for you to be educated enough to form your own opinions by experimentation and draw up your own results. Every different person and culture has various views on these numbers, but I am going by the western esoteric style of using these numbers.

Master and Karmic Dept Numbers, Letters, and their meaning in the Pythagorean Method of Counting

11/2 and means Peace Messenger

22/4 and means Master Builder

33/6 and means Great Healer

44 /8 and means Abundant Power

13/4 and means Taking Shortcuts or the Wrong Effort

14/5 and means Self-indulgence

16/7 and means Bad Love/ Mistrust in Love

19/1 and means Selfishness/ Wrong Authority

Once again I wish to state as I did above, learn the knowledge; but take it with a grain of salt. The gods have their own view to send to you with the use of these numbers.

The information provided above on the chart “Numbers, Letters, and their meaning in the Pythagorean Method of Counting” lets work on figuring out how to add names up and find out the deeper meaning of your name. Keep in mind only use your legal name! Lets use the specific name Robert. The key to figuring out how to convert the letters into numbers is in the chart: R=9, O=6, B=2, E=5, R=9, and T=2. Now comes the easy part, add them all together. 9+6+2+5+9+2 = 33, so we do not reduce this due to the fact it is a power number, 33/6. So Robert is 33. Lets do Anthony now: A=1, N=5, T=2, H=8, O=6, N=5, Y=7. The equation would now be 1+5+2+8+6+5+7=34, this time we break down 24 since it is not a master number or karmic number: 3+4=7. In conclusion this what the total for Anthony. Lets revert back to the name of Robert and see what that name can be in depth to the character named Robert, the number is 33/6 revolving around the idea of being a Great Healer and with the last name Anthony it means this individual is also has  a great sense of spirituality involved in his or her life as well with the number 7.

The last segment of this lesson consists of dates of birth and the significance of your birth, much like how important your natal chart is with the proper time and date of your birth. In numerology we use the method of month/day/year. Lets say the birthday of John is  10/2/2000, breakdown the month, day and year and memorize them. These will be used separately for the upcoming lessons on the equations for the next few months to come. 1(10=1+0= 1) as the month, 2 as the day, and 2 (2000=2+0+0+0=2) as the year. Now add these up together and you obtain your Destiny Number or also known as your life path number. So 5 will be John’s life path number. The Life Path number determines your destiny, John’s destiny is to be a seeker of knowledge and answers in his life as is dictated by 5.

A Numerology Report for Obama

February, 2009

This is Obama’s general numerology report which I found very interesting to say the least. It really suits who he is or who we have come to believe he is. I became interested in this because of all the fear posts that have spread across the internet lately concerning Obama being the antichrist and so on. While this sort of thing also interests me even though I don’t believe in the antichrist, I wondered just what his numbers were and what they had to say. Since our economy is one foot off the cliff right now, a lot of people are only hanging on for this man and what he may do. As Pagans I think it’s very important for us to be politically aware. After all, this is our world to. So enjoy and hopefully you will find something interesting.

For those who do not understand numerology, it is finding the numbers that is linked with you. Every letter equals a certain number. By using your name and your birthday, we come up with these numbers.

Obama’s numbers were 999 & 11

I did this chart myself.   NOTE: This is very positive and I think only inspires what Obama wishes to stand for. Enjoy.

A Brief Essay on Numerology

July, 2006

Since the earliest times, people strived to find a convenient way of classifying the archetypal energies in the universe. Many priests and scholars came to the realization that the best way to do so, was through the symbolic language of numbers. The Mayans, the Egyptians and the Babylonians, The Vikings and the Celts, the Greeks and the Jews were some of the few nations in different corners of the world who developed a numerological system of their own, with their own ideas of numbers. However, most of this knowledge vanished with the destruction of the major libraries in the ancient world.

The two major branches of numerology we know today come from the works of the Pythagorean School and the Kabalistic treaties. From these sources most of the contemporary numerologists learned about the psychological, and the energetic dimensions of numbers. The uniqueness of both approaches is in the immense practical emphasis. Pythagoras in particular, investigated extensively the numbers first, before making any theoretical suppositions. He verified his conclusions about the main patterns of number energies many times before writing down the first rules of numerology.

In my own practice as a numerologist, I likewise apply the ideas of numerology on the everyday basis. I can determine what each day bodes for me by calculating its energy, understand the way others see me from my Attitude Number, and make good bets in the lottery with my Lucky Numbers. Indeed everyone can benefit from numerology. You can learn how to improve your relationship with others, or even find out what you really need in life. More importantly, numerology gives the answer to the most important question of all, “what is the meaning of my life?” by analyzing one’s Destiny Numbers.

And it’s so simple – each one of you can do it right now by adding a few numbers!

Consider for example a person who was born on November 27th of ‘72. Translate it into numbers: 11 for November, 27 for the day, and 1972 for the year. Then add: (1+1) + (2+7) + (1+9+7+2) = 2+9+19 = 30. Now, the sum 30 translates into 3 + 0 = 3. This final number 3 is the sum total of the individual who was born on November 27th in the year 1972. While this is a gross simplification, it gives a quick insight into the person’s character. You can similarly calculate you own number and look for it in the short list below

Numerology then is an empirical science that investigates the archetypal energies of the universe. For the sake of simplicity, these major energies are represented by the one digit numbers, from 0 to 9. Each number has certain distinguishing properties briefly summarized below for easy reference. Some of you who are well versed in any of the Pagan traditions will find these archetypes familiar and easy to remember. This is the beauty of numerology; it is independent of the frame of reference you use. You can be a Pagan or a Christian, a Jew or a Buddhist; the numbers will work for all of you as they work for me.

1     Creation – Adam

2     Balance – The Gemini Twins

3     Realism – The Philosopher’s Stone (Tourmaline)

4     Strength – The Oak / The Willow

5     Freedom – The Leap of Faith

6     Responsibility – The Parent

7     Quest – The Seeker for Truth

8     Control – The Manager of the Universe

9     Wisdom – The Hermit

0      Openness – The Initiate

A Note: In the brief description of the numbers I freely interchange the pronouns ‘he’ and ‘she’ to show that number energies are independent of gender.

I chose as the archetype of the first number to be the Biblical Adam. He lacked something in his life and was incomplete until the missing thing came into being, from his own rib. We now call Adam’s creative initiative Eve. Similarly, the 1 person needs to create more than anything else. Until he does, he will feel an ache, a deep hole that needs to be filled

Many of the ideas for the number 2 are taken from the astrological glyph of the twins which represents the sign of Gemini. Some astrologers believe that a typical Gemini is threatened to be torn from the inside by two conflicting urges. It is equally true for the 2 individual. She must be aware of oscillating between two extremes and of the necessity to make the most balanced decision possible in every stage of her life.

In metaphysical studies, tourmaline is considered to be the stone that transmutes any negative vibration into a positive one. This is the lesson of the 3. He is a realist who acknowledges bad feelings when they come. Nonetheless, he has the ability to use the negative energy in a constructive manner. He is like the dolphin, an animal endowed with superb senses which are used for the sake of proper communication. When on the right path, the individual will “channel” his heightened sensitivity into some form of self expression, drawing or singing, writing or baking pies. Anything will do, as long as an individual puts a piece of his soul into his work. Then he discards the negative emotions. They are all invested into his creative masterpiece which will fascinate all observers. It is said of such an artist that the emotions exhibited in his performance more than compensate for his lack of technique. Thus, in the fashion of the tourmaline the person forces even his disadvantages to work for his benefit. If for some reason this path is not taken, the enhanced sensitivity of the 3 will turn inward and discern insults even when they are not meant.

The 4 person misapplies his strength, like the oak. She holds onto the past and finds safety in the ritual. She needs to adapt to new circumstances as does the willow, so that she can survive. The successful 4 quickly realize they don’t care about the nature of the changes which take place in their lives. They object on the principle level to the very idea of a change, which threatens their otherwise orderly existence.

Superficially the 5 are easy going. Deep inside though, the 5 person feels entrapped, for no fault of his own, like the Biblical Job. Yet he doesn’t have the mentality of Job to just believe in the goodness of the universe, or its logic. Instead, he often concentrates on his feeling of entrapment and blames others for his lack of discipline. It is to be noted that his trap is usually self – induced. He seeks freedom so hard that he imprisons himself even more by placing all the important decisions in the hands of others. The path of the 5 is not easy but people who succeed on it find great rewards. They are the ones to possess the talent of non linear thinking. Their mindset is such that they can consider several ideas at the same time. It is from the ranks of the triumphant 5 that we get the greatest number of geniuses in different areas.

The 6 person becomes an excellent care taker, parent or boss. What she needs is to take responsibility for herself and nurture the inner child. Acceptance of the imperfection is necessary for the inner growth of the 6.

7 is the number of the seeker. Such a person often feels separated from others by his desire to find some understanding of the world. Some look for answers in psychology or physics, others study the occult. All of them however are distinguished by this invisible mark of the search that usually ends inside.

Control is the central issue of the number 8. People on this path often assume that the quickest way to mastering their fate lies with financial success. Circumstances prove them wrong. By being subject to the choices of others they learn about the true nature of control. Since there a lot of unfairness on this path, the rewards of this energy are also the most tangible. To those who solve the problems presented to them, money comes easy.

9 is the number of the “old souls” who have to establish their own rules. They may have issues with their parents which are later resolved. This number seems to have the greatest protection from the Higher Power, but their responsibility is also the hardest to bear.

0 is equivalent to the Coyote in Native American Folklore, the Fool in the traditional Tarot deck, or to the reversed triangle in the Nordic magic. In plain words, it is the number of the initiate who opens himself up for spiritual journey.

Those key sentences in my experience show the essence of each number. Keep in mind though that numerology is above all empirical. You are encouraged to use these ideas but eventually to find your own patterns and understanding. Just listen to the numbers and learn from their lessons. No teacher is better!
