    Runic Divination

Merry Meet everyone, in this lesson we will learn how to divine with our Runes. The first thing you will need to do is find a place you can work without distraction, once your private place is found you will need to find a flat surface for casting the Runes. Now you are ready to begin. In previous lessons we have learned the meanings of the runes so now it is time to use what we have learned. There are vast arrays of ways to read the runes just as there are numerous ways to cast and read any system of divination… But we will start with three easy castings…

    The Wytches’ Child

The wytches’ child possesses a silver pentagram, it hangs amidst the green-white phosphorous lights where somnambulists channel souls from the oasis of stellar-electric blasts that carousel the brown chestnuts of old oak trees. Here, she dances sky clad among the white-silken mists and apple blossoms that nearly caress the night sky. Always indiscriminately, she pours her heart out to shadowy figures most would find grotesque, if not for the fragility of a flower, bruised, with strewn petals. Small animals, wild for carrot taking, stop to stare at a cricket waving his antennae in a field of grassy knoll opposite the wytches’ cottage, where Spirit begins to scatter droplets of rainwater…

    Greetings from Afar

The Place With No Name Regardless of what you’ve heard, Western Siberia is a wonderous place nothing like we were led to believe in the West. It is not a frozen wasteland. There are no starving bears chasing emaciated wolves up and down the frozen, dreary streets vying for the skeletal forms that huddle wretchedly in long lines waiting for their daily crust of bread and cup of thin turnip soup. Siberia is big and bold and beautiful a land of extremes, and contrast with frigid winters and sweltering summers high, snow capped mountains and pine forests that stretch out as far as the eye can seee. It is a…

    Speakin’ of Ghosts

It’s late and just as you’re drifting off to sleep, you hear something.  What was it?  There’s no one else at home.  The cat’s asleep at the end of the bed.  “It must have been the wind,” you tell yourself.  It always makes you feel better to believe it’s just the wind.  Until you feel that cool breeze float across your bed and realize there is no wind… People have been telling ghost stories since the beginning of time – the Greeks and Romans had ghost stories, and even the Bible mentions one in the story of Samuel and the Witch of Endor.  The oldest documented ghost story in Oklahoma…

    The Witch’s Cupboard

Cinnamon Cinnamon (Cinnamomum zeylanicum, C. verum) also known as Sweet Wood and Ceylon cinnamon.   Its origin is Sri Lanka.   Cinnamon is pretty common in foods these days such as cinnamon rolls and cinnamon tea.  It is a bark that is ground into powder form that can be added to food and burned as incense. In ancient times, Cinnamon was used as a religious herb, created to purify temples.   It also helped with mummification to create a sweet smell.  Throughout history, its leaves have been used in medicine. Cinnamon can be used and substituted for Sun Magickal work such as healing, illumination, magickal power, physical energy, protection, success, and putting an…

    The Grove

How do you reason with a drunken, toga-wearing party guy? You can ignore him, but he’ll only make more noise to get your attention. You can yell at him, but it will only get him excited. The only thing you can do, it seems, is to take a deep breath & invite him in. See where it takes you. So it is with Dionysus. Logically it would’ve been more appropriate to explore another god now. Grapes abound in autumn. It would make sense to honour the fruit of the vine & its associated deities at, say, Mabon instead. Dionysus announced his presence not with a bang but with a rather…

    WiseWoman Traditions

The Six Steps of Healing What are the Six Steps of Healing? These are remedies you can use for your problem in order from safest to most dangerous: Step 0 is the safest; Step 6 the most dangerous.  Use Steps 0, 1, 2 and 3 as preventive medicine. Prevention is an important, though often invisible, way of healing/wholing in the Wise Woman tradition. Deep relaxation, information exchange, energetic engagement, optimum nourishment (including touch) and exercise promote health with little or no side effects. Examples are in parenthesis: (with a few of the modalities available at each step) Step 0:  Do Nothing (sleep, meditate, unplug the clock or the telephone) A…

    Mistress of Storms

Torchlight Guides the path To the crossroads I ride My companions Honey Pearl and poppy Encased in silver and black Dragons pull along As dogs bark the evening song A message I take with me To the Mistress of Storms I harkened back When I turned the Key Wisdom and faith Grew like daisies And the Sun laughed As I cried her name I knew it then She would be with me So here I ride With all I have A message to give To the Mistress of Storms Turn the sands Echo of time Let the plants grow Let the grain shine In this moment In this torchlight In…
