Crystals
to Bring Abundance & Prosperity for May

Hi
all! If you weren’t aware, May is THE most important and
magical month for prosperity work. May is the 5th month and 5 in
numerology is the number representing abundance. Think of the herb
Cinquefoil (aka five finger grass)…this is one of the very best
herbs for prosperity because it has 5 blades or fingers. The number 5
also represents the four cardinal directions plus spirit. When
working with crystals (or any tool) it is always beneficial to layer
or stack correspondences.

Correspondences
are any material, tool, or theme you use in addition to your
practice. Some examples are using numerology, colors, herbs, symbols,
working with Gods or Goddesses, oils, etc. The more layers the more
potent the magic! I highly suggest adding some correspondences to
your prosperity or abundance work this month.

I
will get you started with the stones and crystals that will help draw
abundance to you, but the skies the limit to what else you want to
add to bump up your May prosperity work. May 5th is the day
considered the most powerful (5/5) and if you can set your intentions
and say a prayer at 5:55 either AM or PM on 5/5 that’s optimal. I set
up an abundance altar for the year every year on 5/5. This is a place
you can keep your prosperity crystals in a grid, some items to
represent the 4 directions, and maybe a statue or offering to lakshmi
or Ganesha.

I
encourage you to get creative and keep in mind the most important
component is your intention. So please don’t feel hindered if you
don’t have all the tools. You could create a drawing, write a poem,
create a sigil, etc. to add to your altar and honestly the things you
create yourself are the most powerful tools of all! That being said,
I highly believe that working with crystals are very important and
effective. Read on to see which are my go-to prosperity &
abundance bringing stones. Since I have written about many of these
crystals in past columns I will keep the descriptions short and to
the point. I encourage you to work with as many of these crystals as
you can.

Congo
Citrine/Citrine:

All
natural Citrine is amazing for prosperity work, but my very favorite
and the most effective in my opinion is Congo Citrine. It’s also more
likely to be the real deal….meaning not heat treated amethyst which
most Citrine you see is. When it has that unnatural orange tone it’s
usually heat treated amethyst. Nothing wrong with using heat treated
stones, but keep in mind you will be working with amethyst properties
rather than Citrine properties if you use it. Congo Citrine looks and
feels very different than treated Citrine. Citrine is the most common
& popular prosperity stone and for good reason. Citrine is
revered for ensuring prosperity of all kinds and attracting wealth to
you. Citrine can even release any energetic blockages to prosperity,
even from past lifetimes! It is known as “the merchants stone”
and “the success stone”. Working with Citrine will help you
to feel worthy of prosperity and open energy streams of abundance. If
you can only acquire one prosperity crystal, this would be a wise and
effective choice. I recommend for you to wear Citrine daily if
possible, and to place a small piece of it in your wallet.

Yellow
Apatite:

This
is my go-to favorite crystal for ANY type of manifesting. I pair this
with other stones to amplify the manifestation of the other stones
properties. If I can pair this powerhouse with all the prosperity
stones I can gather that would be optimal. Yellow apatite helps you
positively use your personal power to achieve your goals. It
stimulates the intellect and mental clarity. It also inspires passion
and hope. Yellow apatite aids in developing assertiveness and
courage. It also clears away confusion and apathy to help you expand.
It is great to use when starting new ventures as it increases your
drive to accomplish. Pretty amazing crystal right?

Pyrite:

Pyrite
is also known as “fool’s gold”, it literally looks like a
gemmy hunk of gold. The color gold represents prosperity, so
naturally pyrite is a perfect crystal to use in prosperity work. It’s
a stone of possibilities. It is the ultimate symbol of wealth and
good luck. It enhances motivation and increases your potential. It’s
a stone of action and stimulates the flow of ideas. It helps you to
follow things through to completion. Inspires creativity, clarity,
focus and determination. When used in its natural cubic formation it
also represents the four cardinal directions.

Green
Jade:

Green
Jade is the ultimate good luck charm. It’s been highly prized for
thousands of years. This stone helps you to discover negative
patterns that are holding you back from fulfilling your potential. It
represents vitality, physical growth, expansion and new beginnings.
Jade allows the divine to enhance circumstances of life to allow good
fortune to naturally flow into your life. Amazing stone.

Green
Aventurine:

This
is the stone of growth. Growth of everything you wish to grow,
including wealth & abundance. This is the “get it”
stone. Use this to help bring about your intentions. The “stone
of personal growth” will help you to grow into the best version
of yourself and achieve your dreams. This is a go-to stone for any
type of money magic and is commonly put in cash drawers or boxes to
draw money in. This is a good luck stone. Green aventurine attracts
luck, success and abundance of all kinds.

Tigers
Eye:

Tigers
Eye is a stone that helps you have the willpower and confidence to
achieve success and therefore the abundance that you seek. Its a very
multi-dimensional stone. It gives you the tools you need to shift
your outlook and gain a deeper understanding of yourself. It is a
stone of discernment. With a deeper awareness you will have the
confidence to explore and pursue new possibilities. Tigers eye
strengthens your motivation. It gives you courage. It is a stone of
physical action, giving you the momentum to take the necessary steps
to achieve your goals. It pushes you out of your comfort zone. In
order to gain the abundance we wish for, we need to get up and ACT.
This stone has your back!

Peridot:

This
beautiful green crystal is also known as the cornucopia stone. It’s
an increase or growth generator, helping to manifest and increase
abundance in all areas of life. It increases profits in trades and is
a talisman of good luck. It helps instill confidence in ones own
abilities and helps establish a sense of self-worth. It also removes
blockages that can hinder success or growth.

In
general, if you aren’t sure which crystals to use for abundance,
using crystals in the colors of green and gold is a great place to
start. I would like to mention a few other very important crystals
you might want to acquire at some point (these are more expensive &
harder to find- but wishlist worthy!). These honorable mentions are
cavansite, pentagonite, and hessonite garnet. There are many more
common and accessible honorable mentions as well, such as ruby,
emerald, and moss agate.

I
hope you will try working with some, or all of these very useful and
powerful stones, both this magic money month and throughout the year.
Using your crystals as aids to manifest your dreams and desires are
what your crystals are here to do. They want to be worked with and
used, so if you have some sitting in a drawer somewhere, go pull it
out and tap into the magic! Happy May!

Meet the Gods: Dagda

(This illustration of Dagda was found on Pinterest. His cauldron, known as the Undry or the Cauldron of Plenty, provided infinite food and drink but never to a coward or an oath breaker. It was also said to revive the dead. One end of his enormous club could kill while the other end could give life.)

Merry meet.

The name of the Celtic god Dagda means “Good God.” He’s also known as Eochaid Ollathair, meaning “Eochaid the All-Father.” His name is typically proceeded by the article “the.”

In the Celtic tradition, the Dagda is one of the leaders of a mythological Irish people, the Tuatha Dé Danann, “People of the Goddess Danu.”

These were a group of people, descended from Nemed, who had been exiled from Ireland, and scattered. It is thought that Danu offered them her patronage, under which they succeeded in rebanding, learning new and magical skills, and returning to Ireland in a magical mist,” according to Bard Mythologies.

Britannica.com states, “The Dagda was credited with many powers and possessed a cauldron that was never empty, fruit trees that were never barren, and two pigs – one live and the other perpetually roasting. He also had a huge club that had the power both to kill men and to restore them to life. With his harp, which played by itself, he summoned the seasons.”

Some sources have him married to the sinister war goddess Morrígan. At least one of his many children was borne by the goddess of the River Boyne.

The Dagda is generally described as being a large man, sometimes comically so, with a tremendous appetite and immense capacity. It was said that to make his porridge he needed 80 gallons of milk as well as several whole sheep, pigs, and goats, and that he ate this meal with a ladle large enough to hold two people lying down,” Morgan Daimler wrote in “Pagan Portals – Gods & Goddess of Ireland,” citing “A Child’s Eye View of Irish Paganism,” by Blackbird O’Connell.

Daimler notes the Dagda is often described as having red hair and wearing a short tunic. He is strong and able to accomplish “great feats such building a fort single-handedly.” Every power was his.

He is called the Excellent God, the Lord of Perfect Knowledge and all Father. His central attribute is the Sacred Fire and, like it, he is always hungry, ready to consume the offerings; he is also a red god. The Dagda is also a phallic deity [fitting for Beltane], his lust matching his hunger. He is the father of many of the Tuatha De but his key function is as Druid of the Gods,” according to an article published on adf.org.

Druidic magic, abundance and great skill are among the attributes associated with the Dagda.

From my research, it seems he would appreciate offerings of large quantities of dark ale or beer, and oat bannocks, a porridge, particularly if butter and bacon are added. One source noted they should be offered to the fire.

A cauldron and a club or staff, Daimler suggested, could be his symbols in works of magic.

He is called on for wisdom, victory in law or judgement, and bounty. In a time of need, I can see putting out my cauldron, perhaps with a fire in it, and call the Dagda and his Cauldron of Plenty for help. Because his cauldron also serves as a tool of rebirth and regeneration, I would also call upon that power when going through a difficult ending on the way to a rebirth.

(“Dagda – Celtic All Father,” was handcrafted by James Miller from StonecraftArts. Sculpted in wax based clay and cast in architectural concrete, this plaque is available on Etsy.)

James Miller, a sculptor from Colorado, is of Celtic and Germanic descent.

He is part of my cultural heritage, so I honor him as an archetype of the ideal masculine,” James said, adding, “His name actually means ‘the good one.’”

He finds people are more receptive to learning about gods, goddesses and ancient traditions when they are framed in a cultural rather than religious context.

Merry part. And merry meet again

Raising Your Vibration

Your mojo bag for this month is one that will help to raise your vibration! With the many shifts and changes that are coming, we need to raise our vibration to ride out the wave. If we fall below the surface, we will get caught in the undertow!

The first stone shown here is Polychrome Jasper! One of my all-time favorite stones as it is called the “happy energy“ stone and it is said to bring good fortune and a happy outlook on life. All jaspers are protective and nurturing, however, polychrome brings emotional balance, is a stress reliever and increases stamina and the ability to adjust to change. This beautiful stone aids quick thinking, promotes organizational abilities and seeing projects through to completion. It stimulates the imagination and helps to manifest ideas into action. Polychrome Jasper is useful for those starting new business pursuits and it also assists in a tuning to and communicating with animals! Also, it just feels really good to hold! *grins*

Mugglestone is the next stone to the right of the Polychrome in this photo. Mugglestone is a cross between Tiger’s Eye, Hematite and Red Jasper. Mugglestone incorporates the traits of all three of these stones. Together they provide strength, stamina, focused will, physical energy, grounding, balance and confidence. They strengthen first second and third chakras. It is important to keep your balance as you are raising your physical and energetic vibration.

Rutilated Quartz is in this mix because it is a vibrational healer. This type of clear quartz contains fine strands of real gold. It promotes spiritual growth, draws of negative energy, cleanses and energizes the aura, aids astral travel and channeling, facilitates contact with the highest spiritual guidance and protects against psychic attacks. The alleviates dark moods and acts as an antidepressant as it relieves fears, phobias, and anxieties, releasing destructive thoughts and counters self-hatred. Excellent for all chakras!

In the photo, below the Rutilated Quartz, you will see Hematite. An extra boost of hematite helps to manifest light, making the spiritual physical, and the balancing of opposites. Also helps to move through adversity and helps us to see the silver lining behind every dark cloud. Enhances first chakra.

And lastly, Tourminalated Quartz is clear or white quartz with rods of Black Tourmaline shooting through it! As we know, most black stones work well for grounding and protection. Quartz works as an amplifier! So, Tourminalated Quartz helps with purification, recovery and protection from negative influences. It clears out bad vibes and helps to remove blockages. Allows one to receive the full spectrum of light necessary for proper energetic and physical health.  It assists in purifying on a physical, emotional, and spiritual level, so further growth can be undertaken. It “washes“ the aura, clearing energy patterns that have created stagnation. It helps to identify emotional patterns that need to be purified and cleansed. It is excellent for healing and clearing rooms, as well. It can also be used to aid in purifying the physical body after substance-abuse and those are attempting to improve their diet. The stone also resonates with our chakras.

About the Author:

Tala is a healer of multi-cultural decent and influence. Her heritage is a mixture of Celtic, African, Native American and European decent. However, her spiritual journey began when she and her mother were living throughout Mexico. While exploring one of our world’s ‘Sacred Power Spots’, Chichen Itza in the Yucatan, Tala was struck by a bus and was pronounced dead. She was revived when three indigenous Mayan Shamans appeared from the jungle and proceeded to pass her body between them and chant. They brought her to their hidden jungle village on the mountain to recover and heal for three days. When Tala emerged from the jungle on the fourth day, she told her mother’s companion that she had been “given the light of god by the Mayan people”. She was five years old when she experienced this N.D.E. (near death experience). This opened the door to her receiving messages and visitations from spirits to this day.

At age 23, Tala was the recipient of Shaktipat, in person directly from Shri Anandi Ma. This is a transmission of energy/ god force through (in her case) physical touch which awakens the Kundalini. It often sets the person on their true spiritual path. Many who receive Shaktipat become healers and teachers.

Over the years, combined with her continuing formal education, she has maintained a balance between the physical sciences and the metaphysical. She was one of the first 60 people in the U.S. to be sent to the Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX to be trained by NASA to educate local teachers about the International Space Station in its beginning stages. She became an R.C. Counselor, Peer Counselor, and an Ordained Minister for the Universal Life Church. She is a Certified Holographic Sound Healer and is a Reiki Practitioner. This year she has become an ordained Minister and Reverend of Our Lord & Lady of the Trinacrian Rose Church and has completed her 2 year apprenticeship in the Pachakuti Mesa Cross-cultural Shamanism and is now a Paco-Shaman. She has made her living for the past years as a powerful energy worker/healer of individuals and groups and a master craftsman of ritual, ceremonial and energetic tools. Her dream is to travel the world and continue her formal and spiritual education with scholars, locals and indigenous peoples.

Tala is a Spiritual Practitioner of the Shamanic arts, she studies Ancient Spiritualities from all over the world and she is a Sacred Toolsmith making tools for Shamans, Pagans and Energy Workers. You can find her at ‘A New Page’ at 1060 Newfield St., Middletown, CT

Swedish Petroglyphs

Sweden has an abundance of mysterious petroglyphs. The Swedish word for petroglyphs is “hällristningar”. This refers to figures and shapes carved in rock surfaces. Most of these images are pre-historic in origin.

Scandinavia has a very large concentration of rock art, created around c. 9000 (the first century BCE). There are about 30,000 registered sites (but new sites are being discovered all the time). Vivid interpretations have been attempted, based on Old Norse beliefs and Sami ethnography.

In truth we do not know until today what their purpose or meaning really was. Do they tell stories? Were they a backdrop for community rituals and ceremony?

This video offers an introduction and some key information followed by shamanic drumming inviting people to meditate on (or journey into) five photographs of Swedish Petroglyphs.

I invite you to share your experiences in the comments section for this video. Who knows, this might just give us some powerful (if non-scientific) clues to the lives of the Bronze Age inhabitants of Scandinavia!

I look forward to reading your responses!

Natural Born Shamans – A Spiritual Toolkit for Life: Using Shamanism Creatively with Young People of All Ages on Amazon

October is quickly coming to an end, and I have never been more thankful. October brought sickness and trials. It was a difficult month to say the least.

But with October coming to a close, Samhain is fast approaching.

Samhain (or Halloween as Little Bear calls it) has always been one of my favorite holidays. Even when it was banned from my childhood home life.

The veil is thinning, the days grow darker, and the nights become almost black.

Living in the Midwest means the weather is unpredictable at the end of October. It could be sunny and hot, or rainy and wet. As a child, “Halloween” meant snow. I can remember more snowy Halloweens than not.

Little Bear and I will make the best of it regardless of the weather. He has his costume picked out. He is going as a zombie SWAT guy. He’s talked me into being a zombie also. He’s a bit obsessed with The Walking Dead right now.

This year, I let Little Bear go wild and decorate the whole house. We put up window clings, black garland, laid out fake spiders, decorated foam pumpkins, and hung up door covers.

Yesterday, we visited the local pumpkin field/corn maze. They have so many activities and it’s a must every year. They have goats, chickens, rabbits, long horn cattle, corn boxes, corn mazes, pumpkin guns, tug a war ropes, inflatables, wooden trains, etc. It is a full day.

Tonight, is pumpkin carving time. I’m sure that my excitement is at a way higher level than Little Bear’s because of the pumpkin seeds. I have dug out some recipes from Pinterest and plan on trying at least three. I have to do normal salt pumpkin seeds. But I’m going to try a sweet version with cinnamon and brown sugar. The other one I haven’t decided on because there is so many variations that can be done. However, I’m leaning towards a savory that uses sea salt and white vinegar. Not sure how it’ll turn out, but we shall see!

One of my favorite traditions for Samhain is the dinner. Eating dinner at the table is something that rarely happens in our home because of scheduling. But when Samhain rolls around, I take the day off. I plan a meal as if it were Thanksgiving and I set the table. I always set a spot for my sister who we lost back in 2015. It helps to bring her close. Little Bear gets excited and will start talking to her spot as if she never left.

Little Bear started asking questions again about “God” last week. This is a conversation that we have quite frequently as he has a hard time understanding something that he cannot see. So, I go into the explanation again. We have talked about the many different religions of the world. Although I am raising him in a Pagan home, I understand that the Pagan path may not be for him.

I found a wonderful series that touches on the spiritual side without focusing on one certain religion. It’s the The Giggles and Joy series. A three-part series that focuses on positive poems. It’s a neat series that I recommend. You can check out my review on them in this same issue!

Crystals
For Self Love & Drawing Love Into Your Life

Well
its February & we know what that means….love, hearts,
chocolates and…..crystals!! Crystals are an amazing tool to use
yourself if you are focusing on self love, and great for gifting to
loved ones as well. There are crystals for drawing love of all kinds
into your life. I feel its important to not get caught up in just
relationships & partnerships on Valentine’s day. Not everyone is
currently in a relationship, and some are not able to spend the
holiday with their partners. None of these people should  be
left out. Love is for the self first & foremost so lets celebrate
that. And if you are blessed enough to have a partner to celebrate
with, then share the love by gifting them a love crystal. Read on to
find out my top picks for crystals to bring love of all kinds into
your life.

Morganite
is a stone that just oozes love in my opinion. Its gentle, soothing
and feels like a warm embrace. This is a stone of divine love in fact
and therefore vibrates strongly with a beautiful love energy. This
stone is a heart and higher heart (thymus) chakra crystal. Its potent
for helping romantic partnerships. It helps you to respect both
yourself and others. It enhances patience. Its a great crystal for
women as it helps them to see and appreciate both their inner beauty
and their strength from within. It also helps to connect with divine
feminine energies. Morganite assists in connecting with the angelic
realm. This crystal holds the vibration of divine love. It doesn’t
get any better than that!

Pink Danburite is one of my very favorite crystals. So I may be a bit biased here. Danburite is amazing in so many ways, but pink Danburite has all the properties of Danburite but with a good dose of heart opening added in. Pink Danburite gently, but powerfully, opens the crown chakra and then links and attunes it to the heart chakra. It activates higher consciousness from a heart based perspective. The pink variety of Danburite is a heart chakra and higher heart chakra stone. It increases acceptance of ones self and others. It brings emotional healing and releases fear, grief and anxiety. Brings in the energies of serenity and peace. It resonates with angelic realms and brings harmony from that realm down into your heart….um yes please!  This stone helps the heart to resonate with divine love, which also promotes self-love. We can all use more self-love in my opinion.

Ruby.
Say the word and it makes one think of love. And passion. Ruby is a
very powerful love stone that opens and activates the heart chakra.
It actually protects the loss of heart energy. It helps us to connect
to others and helps us to be more emotionally aware. It dissolves any
emotional congestion and balances the emotions. Ruby has an intense
energy that stimulates loving emotions and passion. It amplifies
energy, drive and success. It helps you see and open yourself up to
divine love. It makes you see the true nature of love. Ruby helps you
to become a vehicle for divine love to flow through to others. Ruby
brings bliss and love.

Green
apophyllite. I have a real thing for this crystal. When I hold this I
immediately feel so comforted and loved. Green apophyllite cleanses
and balances the heart chakra. In fact it is said that all one needs
to do is be in the presence of this crystal to cleanse and balance
your heart. This crystal helps you to connect to mama Gaia. It
balances the emotions with gentle, loving energy. Its a very healing
stone. It helps you to let go of harbored resentments and heals a
jaded hurt heart. It brings clarity to situations and decisions of
the heart. Green apophyllite helps you to forgive and to release
emotions that no longer serve you. It helps you to reach a meditative
state and enhances spiritual growth. It infuses you with spiritual
love and light and opens you to beings from the higher realms. Most
importantly, this crystal opens your heart to joy and love and
enhances your ability to receive all the good things in life;
friendship, marriage, children, abundance of all things, and love.
Sounds like heaven.

Pink/purple Lepidolite is such a workhorse and should be a staple in everyone’s collection in my view. Usually when you think of Lepidolite, you think of an anxiety or stress relieving stone. It contains lithium in it so it is for sure a great stone for this. But for me it is much more than just that. Before we can invite all the things we seek into our lives, we first need to learn how to cope with and treat our discomforts. We must be healthy mentally and spiritually in order to both love our self and to love others. This stone is your new best friend. This stone opens and releases pain and suffering layer by layer. It helps you overcome emotions that keep you from doing what you want in life. Wow….that is the real deal. That cuts right to the chase doesn’t it? Its our fears and limiting beliefs that hold us back from our hopes and dreams. Start releasing it! What are we holding onto it for? Holding onto a fear becomes a self-fulfillling prophecy. We make the very things we fear come true by sending so much energy to them! Crystals are tools, our allies in becoming more happy and complete beings. I truly believe that. My life has been so enriched by working with crystals, meditating and getting in touch with my heart space. Lepidolite helps you find your emotional center. It balances emotions and mood swings. This stone opens up your heart to love and a nurturing vibration. It helps remove the worries and fears. It dissolves energy blocks in all the chakras, making way for happiness and love to dwell. Calm, tranquility and bliss….yes I’ll take that please!

Rhodochrosite
is a stone that really screams heart to me. Its such a gorgeous shade
of pink one can’t help but think of love when gazing upon it. And
rightly so, this stone encourages you to reach a state of joy,
happiness and love. It aids in emotional healing and encourages you
to love yourself. It can stimulate your inner child and promote a
childlike joy in your life. It can bring forgotten memories to the
surface in order for healing to occur. Rhodochrosite is a powerful
heart chakra stone. It vibrates to the energy of love. In this case
it focuses on the energy of love directed at the self. Its a very
active stone that helps you to heal especially if you suffer from low
self-esteem. Self-love is what it’s all about friends.

Ahhh
rose quartz. Probably the one love stone most people are familiar
with above all others. Its easily accessible and inexpensive and
therefore the first recommended stone when wanting to draw love into
your heart or life. And just because its such a common crystal, that
by no means makes it any less powerful or special. Its a perfect
stone for someone new to working with crystals and those very
experienced alike. Rose quartz is a very high vibration stone. It is
a heart chakra and higher heart chakra stone. It’s a stone of
unconditional love and infinite peace. It helps you to open your
heart so you become receptive to love. It teaches you how to love
yourself and encourages self-forgiveness and acceptance. It invokes
self-trust and self-worth. Rose quartz is an emotional healer. It
draws love to you and supports love in an existing relationship, by
restoring harmony and trust. It promotes receptivity to love and
beauty of all types. If you need some love, call on Rose quartz.

I
hope this sparked some interest in working with some of these love
crystals. Whatever type of love you want to attract, I’m sure one of
these will be more than up to the task. I hope whether you celebrate
Valentine’s day or not that you make bringing more love into your
life a priority. And if you do celebrate V-day, crystals are the
perfect way to spread the love.
