All About Crystal Gridding

I’ve
had a lot of customers & friends inquire about gridding recently.
It can seem overwhelming or mysterious at first, but I promise you
that gridding can be a very satisfying, enjoyable and effective tool
& it can be as simple or as complicated as you want it to be. I
will go over the way I do crystal gridding and I hope it helps you to
give it a whirl if you haven’t yet tried it!

Crystal gridding is at its most basic, placing multiple crystals in a pattern. You can make any pattern or design you like, color or draw a grid pattern on paper or you can use a purchased grid pattern as well. You can find amazing pre-made grid patterns in fabric, wood, copper, acrylic and even light up grids! I have reviewed a few if you want suggestions.

Sacred geometry patterns are common but you can literally make any design you prefer. The one thing it needs to have is a center point to place a piece of quartz. This should ideally be a generator or pyramid (something with a point facing skyward) but you could also use a tumble or even a chip-stone in a pinch. Quartz is the highest vibration crystal, that is why a type of quartz is preferred here. After all, the point of your grid is to raise energy. Having quartz in the center point of the grid will maximize the effectiveness of the entire grid as well as all the other crystals you include.

After
you select both a center crystal and a design, you then need to
gather the other crystals & stones you wish to include. If you
are wanting a grid to draw love into your life for example, you would
want stones that correspond to that. If you need some help or
suggestions for which crystals to use for your grids purpose I highly
recommend you read my past columns, I have covered many topics and
give my favorite crystals for each one. You can use as little or as
many crystals in your grid that you prefer. Get creative here and
above all remember to have fun & follow your intuition. Sometimes
you may feel drawn to a certain crystal & you don’t know why, I
truly believe it’s because our intuition is telling us to work with
it for a reason. So go ahead and include it. Even if you don’t think
it goes with the theme. If you listen your crystals will start to
communicate with you. They wont lead you wrong I promise!

OK,
now you have gathered your grid or have a pattern in mind, and you
have your crystals that support your intentions…now its time to
find a spot where your grid won’t be disturbed (I have 4 cats so this
is always important if I want my grid to stay intact). One other
important tool you will need is a double terminated quartz wand to
activate your grid. Double terminated simply means it has points on
both ends. This is a tool to send & direct energy so is perfect
for gridding. If you don’t have a double terminated wand, you can use
your finger in a pinch. You can incorporate other materials into your
grid as well. Flowers, sticks, bones, pine cones, etc. This brings
another layer of correspondences you can incorporate as well. Plus,
it looks very aesthetically pleasing. If you have a spinning table
(lazy Susan) that is a genius way to do your grid, but any stable
surface will suffice.

Now,
you want to set your grid up.

First,
it’s a great practice to get into saging all your crystals and the
grid itself before you begin.

Next
place the quartz generator or pyramid in the center point.

Then
place your supporting crystals all around in the pattern you chose.
This is all your preference where you place your different crystals.
There is no wrong way to do this. So just give it a try. One thing I
do want to point out is if you are using crystal points I would point
them inward to the center of the grid if the grid is to draw
something to you, and place the points facing outward if your grids
purpose is to send energy outward to either the earth or another
person.

Now
you will say aloud your intention or dedication to this grid. If it’s
for health, speak that into the universe.

Then
you want to use the double terminated wand to first touch the center
quartz piece, then touch a crystal on the outer part of the grid.

Working
your way around or in any order that feels right you want to touch
the wand to each crystal on your grid, while touching that center
crystal between each crystal. So touch center, touch another, touch
center, touch another and so on. You can use this process as a time
to concentrate on your intention, pray, or to drop into a meditation.
This process can be done once or you can continue it over & over
as many times as you feel effective. I personally like to go around
to each stone 3 times.

Now
you are done and you can leave your grid up and activated for as long
as you choose. If you leave it up for a long time I recommend
recharging it or reactivating it every so often. If you decide you no
longer need the grid you can un-dedicate it by thanking it for its
service and say simply “I release these crystals from service”.
Then your crystals can be used for another purpose or in another
grid.

Grids
are a great way to start working with your crystals. It can become a
very relaxing and fulfilling hobby. I encourage you to try one, even
if you only have a few crystals you can do a mini grid. Work with
what you have to start, or if you think gridding is something you
want to do often you can invest in more crystals and a nice generator
& wand to use. Just don’t let not having all the things keep you
from doing it. Your intention is the most important piece of this
process. You can work with what you have.

I’d love to see your grids if you are wiling to share! I have a crystal group on Facebook called “Retha’s Crystal Circle” and if you haven’t yet you should join us! I always take pics of my grids & love seeing others grids as well! Thanks for reading & happy gridding!!

Love
& Crystal Blessings

Crystals
to Bring Abundance & Prosperity for May

Hi
all! If you weren’t aware, May is THE most important and
magical month for prosperity work. May is the 5th month and 5 in
numerology is the number representing abundance. Think of the herb
Cinquefoil (aka five finger grass)…this is one of the very best
herbs for prosperity because it has 5 blades or fingers. The number 5
also represents the four cardinal directions plus spirit. When
working with crystals (or any tool) it is always beneficial to layer
or stack correspondences.

Correspondences
are any material, tool, or theme you use in addition to your
practice. Some examples are using numerology, colors, herbs, symbols,
working with Gods or Goddesses, oils, etc. The more layers the more
potent the magic! I highly suggest adding some correspondences to
your prosperity or abundance work this month.

I
will get you started with the stones and crystals that will help draw
abundance to you, but the skies the limit to what else you want to
add to bump up your May prosperity work. May 5th is the day
considered the most powerful (5/5) and if you can set your intentions
and say a prayer at 5:55 either AM or PM on 5/5 that’s optimal. I set
up an abundance altar for the year every year on 5/5. This is a place
you can keep your prosperity crystals in a grid, some items to
represent the 4 directions, and maybe a statue or offering to lakshmi
or Ganesha.

I
encourage you to get creative and keep in mind the most important
component is your intention. So please don’t feel hindered if you
don’t have all the tools. You could create a drawing, write a poem,
create a sigil, etc. to add to your altar and honestly the things you
create yourself are the most powerful tools of all! That being said,
I highly believe that working with crystals are very important and
effective. Read on to see which are my go-to prosperity &
abundance bringing stones. Since I have written about many of these
crystals in past columns I will keep the descriptions short and to
the point. I encourage you to work with as many of these crystals as
you can.

Congo
Citrine/Citrine:

All
natural Citrine is amazing for prosperity work, but my very favorite
and the most effective in my opinion is Congo Citrine. It’s also more
likely to be the real deal….meaning not heat treated amethyst which
most Citrine you see is. When it has that unnatural orange tone it’s
usually heat treated amethyst. Nothing wrong with using heat treated
stones, but keep in mind you will be working with amethyst properties
rather than Citrine properties if you use it. Congo Citrine looks and
feels very different than treated Citrine. Citrine is the most common
& popular prosperity stone and for good reason. Citrine is
revered for ensuring prosperity of all kinds and attracting wealth to
you. Citrine can even release any energetic blockages to prosperity,
even from past lifetimes! It is known as “the merchants stone”
and “the success stone”. Working with Citrine will help you
to feel worthy of prosperity and open energy streams of abundance. If
you can only acquire one prosperity crystal, this would be a wise and
effective choice. I recommend for you to wear Citrine daily if
possible, and to place a small piece of it in your wallet.

Yellow
Apatite:

This
is my go-to favorite crystal for ANY type of manifesting. I pair this
with other stones to amplify the manifestation of the other stones
properties. If I can pair this powerhouse with all the prosperity
stones I can gather that would be optimal. Yellow apatite helps you
positively use your personal power to achieve your goals. It
stimulates the intellect and mental clarity. It also inspires passion
and hope. Yellow apatite aids in developing assertiveness and
courage. It also clears away confusion and apathy to help you expand.
It is great to use when starting new ventures as it increases your
drive to accomplish. Pretty amazing crystal right?

Pyrite:

Pyrite
is also known as “fool’s gold”, it literally looks like a
gemmy hunk of gold. The color gold represents prosperity, so
naturally pyrite is a perfect crystal to use in prosperity work. It’s
a stone of possibilities. It is the ultimate symbol of wealth and
good luck. It enhances motivation and increases your potential. It’s
a stone of action and stimulates the flow of ideas. It helps you to
follow things through to completion. Inspires creativity, clarity,
focus and determination. When used in its natural cubic formation it
also represents the four cardinal directions.

Green
Jade:

Green
Jade is the ultimate good luck charm. It’s been highly prized for
thousands of years. This stone helps you to discover negative
patterns that are holding you back from fulfilling your potential. It
represents vitality, physical growth, expansion and new beginnings.
Jade allows the divine to enhance circumstances of life to allow good
fortune to naturally flow into your life. Amazing stone.

Green
Aventurine:

This
is the stone of growth. Growth of everything you wish to grow,
including wealth & abundance. This is the “get it”
stone. Use this to help bring about your intentions. The “stone
of personal growth” will help you to grow into the best version
of yourself and achieve your dreams. This is a go-to stone for any
type of money magic and is commonly put in cash drawers or boxes to
draw money in. This is a good luck stone. Green aventurine attracts
luck, success and abundance of all kinds.

Tigers
Eye:

Tigers
Eye is a stone that helps you have the willpower and confidence to
achieve success and therefore the abundance that you seek. Its a very
multi-dimensional stone. It gives you the tools you need to shift
your outlook and gain a deeper understanding of yourself. It is a
stone of discernment. With a deeper awareness you will have the
confidence to explore and pursue new possibilities. Tigers eye
strengthens your motivation. It gives you courage. It is a stone of
physical action, giving you the momentum to take the necessary steps
to achieve your goals. It pushes you out of your comfort zone. In
order to gain the abundance we wish for, we need to get up and ACT.
This stone has your back!

Peridot:

This
beautiful green crystal is also known as the cornucopia stone. It’s
an increase or growth generator, helping to manifest and increase
abundance in all areas of life. It increases profits in trades and is
a talisman of good luck. It helps instill confidence in ones own
abilities and helps establish a sense of self-worth. It also removes
blockages that can hinder success or growth.

In
general, if you aren’t sure which crystals to use for abundance,
using crystals in the colors of green and gold is a great place to
start. I would like to mention a few other very important crystals
you might want to acquire at some point (these are more expensive &
harder to find- but wishlist worthy!). These honorable mentions are
cavansite, pentagonite, and hessonite garnet. There are many more
common and accessible honorable mentions as well, such as ruby,
emerald, and moss agate.

I
hope you will try working with some, or all of these very useful and
powerful stones, both this magic money month and throughout the year.
Using your crystals as aids to manifest your dreams and desires are
what your crystals are here to do. They want to be worked with and
used, so if you have some sitting in a drawer somewhere, go pull it
out and tap into the magic! Happy May!

Shop Review – The Makanda Trading Company

April, 2019

If you’re a traveling Pagan, especially during the warmer weather, make your way to southern Illinois to a little town called Makanda. Longitude and latitude of Makanda is 37.6179° north, 89.2090° West. According to the website for this small town, is called the “Gateway to Giant City Park,” the Shawnee Hills Wine Trail, and the scenic River to River Trail passes through this village. It’s also been called the most hippie town in southern Illinois.

It was incorporated February 7, 1888, named after local Native American chief. It once was a bustling town that was closely tied to the railroad and was the major shipping hub for Chicago for fruits and vegetables. Now it’s known for its boardwalk, that houses five little stores. Next to that is Mason’s building that now houses the Makanda Trading Company.

Starting at the Trading Company, you will find crystals, minerals, and incense. He has everything from crystal singing bowls, to clear quartz crystal raven’s skulls, and even some ancient Roman coins. (Brian Beverly runs this, he travels all over the country to get the crystals, minerals, and stones himself. My checkbook always screams at me when I leave here because I spend a little bit of money.)

Visions art gallery,
sells sculptures, paintings, jewelry and other items made by local
artist owned by Nina Kovar. Unfortunately, the two times I’ve been
there I’ve not been able to make it into the shop, or it was not
open. I am looking forward to going back this summer to try to get
into the shop to see what she offers.

PB&J which sells
magnets, jewelry, clothing, and other items owned by Pam, Bob and
Jackie Baker. They have some unique things in the shop. The clothing
is hand died, and the labels will tell you what the color is the
material that it is made from and the artisans’ name.

There there is
Makanda General Store which sells ice cream, coffees, hot sauces, and
other items owned by Filbert. Now I have purchased some coffee beans
from this place, Highland Grog, and Caramel Kiss. Filbert asked if I
would like to have him grind them for me, but I brought them home and
ground them up myself. Grinding the coffee filled my apartment with
the smell and the smells so good.

And then there’s
Rainmaker, this shop is owned by David Dardis, who has created a
large garden behind his shop, and inside his shop, he has various
metal sculptures and creations. He even creates circlets and crowns,
for people to wear. Some of the circlets and crowns contain crystals
or stones. And he’s excellent about making sure if you buy one of
them that they fit your head or he will help you find the right one
or help fit you to the one you’re purchasing.

I am looking forward
to going back this summer, so I can sit and relax in the garden
behind Rainmaker. Maybe get ice cream from Filbert at the General
Store and spend a little too much money at The Makanda Trading Post.
Or I might wait until October and see what dates they have the
Vulture Fest this year. (I haven’t been to the festival yet.)

Crystals for Luck & Happiness

This
month with both the winter & cold weather dragging on (in my neck
of the woods) and St Patrick’s Day coming, I thought we can sure use
some crystal aids for bringing us more joy & happiness and some
good old luck! Are ya with me? Good! Read on to see which are my
favorite go-to crystals to get my happy on and when I need some luck
on my side.

Yellow Apatite

Yellow
or golden apatite is best known for its amazing manifestation powers,
but for me it’s also just as fabulous for bringing joy. It’s sunny
gemmy color makes me feel happy upon looking at it! Yellow is a
cheerful color, and if you ever don’t know which crystal to choose
for a certain function you can always choose based on the color.
Colors are important because they can tell us which stones align with
the chakras, but also pretty much everyone knows the feelings that
are induced by looking at different colors! And yellow crystals are
bound to bring happiness and cheerfulness. Yellow apatite is a stone
that brings positive energy into your auric field. It also has solar
vibes and strong male energy. This bright and stimulating energy
strengthens your willpower and can help you discover what you really
want in life. It strengthens your confidence as well. Helps you to
become MORE…..of whatever you want more of in your life. Makes you
more positive overall and enthusiastic. Very powerful yellow ray
crystal.

Ocean
Jasper

Ocean
Jasper is known as the “happiness stone”. They say it’s
like valium in crystal form. If you are feeling down or blue, this
stone will be your best friend! It encourages feelings of joy and
helps you to release negative feelings so you are more optimistic. It
aids you in reframing negative experiences into a new positive light.
It helps you to communicate positively and helps you to verbally
express feelings of love to others. It relieves tensions, stress and
worry and makes you more aware of the good things in life. It
promotes self-confidence, self-esteem and self-worth. Ocean Jasper
has a strong heart based energy and I hope you will try this for
yourself next time you need a boost!

Citrine

Citrine
is another beautiful yellow color crystal and it is indeed a mood
booster and will cheer you up. It’s known as the “merchant’s
stone” and should be put in your wallet or in a cash register if
you have a store to attract abundance and success to you. It has a
strong sun energy and brings light into all areas of your life.
Brings joy, happiness and good energy to you. Citrine also transforms
negative chi energy into positive beneficial chi energy. Since it
doesn’t absorb the negative energy but instead transmutes it, citrine
never needs to be cleansed. Wear this bright sunny stone to tap into
the beautiful properties.

Green
Aventurine

Green
Aventurine is best known for its ability to promote growth. Whatever
you are wanting to grow or multiply, this is your best tool. I always
add green aventurine to my plants. (Just place on the soil or bury).
It also can help grow your luck. This is the stone recommended for
good luck rituals of any kind. It’s the stone you want if you’re
gambling or playing the lottery, as it’s the stone that boosts your
chances in any situation and helps align opportunities for you. It’s
also what is referred to as the “stone of personal growth”
and also aligns opportunities for learning, growing and personal
development. Green Aventurine is an optimistic stone and promotes a
zest for life. It promotes success and confidence and draws abundance
of all kinds to you. It can protect your heart, acting as an
emotional anchor of sorts. It can even help you to work through
unresolved emotional issues. This stone is such an important one for
anyone’s collection. A workhorse for sure.

Pyrite

Who
doesn’t love pyrite? Its glittery golden sparkles that look like
literal gold. It looks rich and expensive, so if you want luck
(especially prosperity luck) then it makes perfect sense that this is
a great choice. This is a perfect stone in feng-shui for bringing
prosperity and abundance into your home or place of work. Pyrite
helps to relieve “poverty consciousness” and limited
thinking. It increases focus and gives you motivation and
self-confidence. It’s a symbol of wealth and success. It’s revered to
as “fool’s gold” but if you use this stone a fool you
definitely are not! Brings vitality, creativity, protection and
instills a warrior attitude. Gives you the ability to pursue your
dreams. Dream in gold and dream big and use pyrite as your partner to
create your bliss.

Jade

Jade
is known as a lucky charm. It promotes success, wealth and wisdom. It
is the best good luck charm for wealth, abundance and prosperity
specifically. Green represents growth and vitality (as with
aventurine) and not only growing a richer life in respect to material
possessions, but a richer experience in all aspects of your life.
It’s a wish stone or dream stone. Hold this or wear this stone when
you are visualizing your goals and dreams. The stone for dreamers,
reach for the stars with this powerful ally at your side and make
your thoughts become your reality! Jade is also a well known stone
for eternal youth. Using a jade roller for your skin, or making jade
water to spritz your skin is a great practice to incorporate into
your daily skin care regiment.

I
hope this gives you some crystals to get started with to tap into
happiness and joy. Try out one or more of these stones and see if
they make a difference in your life. If you need luck or good mojo
get yourself one or all of these good luck stones and start
experiencing their magic. All of these crystals work together
beautifully and complement each other, so the more the merrier!

I
invite you to make a happiness or luck grid with these stones, adding
quartz to magnify them all! How powerful that would be! Have a very
happy and lucky month and I hope you will come back next month to
read more!

Crystals
For Self Love & Drawing Love Into Your Life

Well
its February & we know what that means….love, hearts,
chocolates and…..crystals!! Crystals are an amazing tool to use
yourself if you are focusing on self love, and great for gifting to
loved ones as well. There are crystals for drawing love of all kinds
into your life. I feel its important to not get caught up in just
relationships & partnerships on Valentine’s day. Not everyone is
currently in a relationship, and some are not able to spend the
holiday with their partners. None of these people should  be
left out. Love is for the self first & foremost so lets celebrate
that. And if you are blessed enough to have a partner to celebrate
with, then share the love by gifting them a love crystal. Read on to
find out my top picks for crystals to bring love of all kinds into
your life.

Morganite
is a stone that just oozes love in my opinion. Its gentle, soothing
and feels like a warm embrace. This is a stone of divine love in fact
and therefore vibrates strongly with a beautiful love energy. This
stone is a heart and higher heart (thymus) chakra crystal. Its potent
for helping romantic partnerships. It helps you to respect both
yourself and others. It enhances patience. Its a great crystal for
women as it helps them to see and appreciate both their inner beauty
and their strength from within. It also helps to connect with divine
feminine energies. Morganite assists in connecting with the angelic
realm. This crystal holds the vibration of divine love. It doesn’t
get any better than that!

Pink Danburite is one of my very favorite crystals. So I may be a bit biased here. Danburite is amazing in so many ways, but pink Danburite has all the properties of Danburite but with a good dose of heart opening added in. Pink Danburite gently, but powerfully, opens the crown chakra and then links and attunes it to the heart chakra. It activates higher consciousness from a heart based perspective. The pink variety of Danburite is a heart chakra and higher heart chakra stone. It increases acceptance of ones self and others. It brings emotional healing and releases fear, grief and anxiety. Brings in the energies of serenity and peace. It resonates with angelic realms and brings harmony from that realm down into your heart….um yes please!  This stone helps the heart to resonate with divine love, which also promotes self-love. We can all use more self-love in my opinion.

Ruby.
Say the word and it makes one think of love. And passion. Ruby is a
very powerful love stone that opens and activates the heart chakra.
It actually protects the loss of heart energy. It helps us to connect
to others and helps us to be more emotionally aware. It dissolves any
emotional congestion and balances the emotions. Ruby has an intense
energy that stimulates loving emotions and passion. It amplifies
energy, drive and success. It helps you see and open yourself up to
divine love. It makes you see the true nature of love. Ruby helps you
to become a vehicle for divine love to flow through to others. Ruby
brings bliss and love.

Green
apophyllite. I have a real thing for this crystal. When I hold this I
immediately feel so comforted and loved. Green apophyllite cleanses
and balances the heart chakra. In fact it is said that all one needs
to do is be in the presence of this crystal to cleanse and balance
your heart. This crystal helps you to connect to mama Gaia. It
balances the emotions with gentle, loving energy. Its a very healing
stone. It helps you to let go of harbored resentments and heals a
jaded hurt heart. It brings clarity to situations and decisions of
the heart. Green apophyllite helps you to forgive and to release
emotions that no longer serve you. It helps you to reach a meditative
state and enhances spiritual growth. It infuses you with spiritual
love and light and opens you to beings from the higher realms. Most
importantly, this crystal opens your heart to joy and love and
enhances your ability to receive all the good things in life;
friendship, marriage, children, abundance of all things, and love.
Sounds like heaven.

Pink/purple Lepidolite is such a workhorse and should be a staple in everyone’s collection in my view. Usually when you think of Lepidolite, you think of an anxiety or stress relieving stone. It contains lithium in it so it is for sure a great stone for this. But for me it is much more than just that. Before we can invite all the things we seek into our lives, we first need to learn how to cope with and treat our discomforts. We must be healthy mentally and spiritually in order to both love our self and to love others. This stone is your new best friend. This stone opens and releases pain and suffering layer by layer. It helps you overcome emotions that keep you from doing what you want in life. Wow….that is the real deal. That cuts right to the chase doesn’t it? Its our fears and limiting beliefs that hold us back from our hopes and dreams. Start releasing it! What are we holding onto it for? Holding onto a fear becomes a self-fulfillling prophecy. We make the very things we fear come true by sending so much energy to them! Crystals are tools, our allies in becoming more happy and complete beings. I truly believe that. My life has been so enriched by working with crystals, meditating and getting in touch with my heart space. Lepidolite helps you find your emotional center. It balances emotions and mood swings. This stone opens up your heart to love and a nurturing vibration. It helps remove the worries and fears. It dissolves energy blocks in all the chakras, making way for happiness and love to dwell. Calm, tranquility and bliss….yes I’ll take that please!

Rhodochrosite
is a stone that really screams heart to me. Its such a gorgeous shade
of pink one can’t help but think of love when gazing upon it. And
rightly so, this stone encourages you to reach a state of joy,
happiness and love. It aids in emotional healing and encourages you
to love yourself. It can stimulate your inner child and promote a
childlike joy in your life. It can bring forgotten memories to the
surface in order for healing to occur. Rhodochrosite is a powerful
heart chakra stone. It vibrates to the energy of love. In this case
it focuses on the energy of love directed at the self. Its a very
active stone that helps you to heal especially if you suffer from low
self-esteem. Self-love is what it’s all about friends.

Ahhh
rose quartz. Probably the one love stone most people are familiar
with above all others. Its easily accessible and inexpensive and
therefore the first recommended stone when wanting to draw love into
your heart or life. And just because its such a common crystal, that
by no means makes it any less powerful or special. Its a perfect
stone for someone new to working with crystals and those very
experienced alike. Rose quartz is a very high vibration stone. It is
a heart chakra and higher heart chakra stone. It’s a stone of
unconditional love and infinite peace. It helps you to open your
heart so you become receptive to love. It teaches you how to love
yourself and encourages self-forgiveness and acceptance. It invokes
self-trust and self-worth. Rose quartz is an emotional healer. It
draws love to you and supports love in an existing relationship, by
restoring harmony and trust. It promotes receptivity to love and
beauty of all types. If you need some love, call on Rose quartz.

I
hope this sparked some interest in working with some of these love
crystals. Whatever type of love you want to attract, I’m sure one of
these will be more than up to the task. I hope whether you celebrate
Valentine’s day or not that you make bringing more love into your
life a priority. And if you do celebrate V-day, crystals are the
perfect way to spread the love.

This Month’s Topic: Exploring Plant Medicine with Janis Young

Today Jen welcomes Silverowl (Janis Young) whose unique approach to healing encompasses work as a Shamanic Practitioner (crystals, drumming, pipe medicine), Holistic Nutritionist (diet, lifestyle), Reconnective Healing Practitioner (energy work), and Charter herbalist (remedies & potions) to assist in the ongoing quest for health.

Instead of relegating the spiritual aspect of ourselves to Sundays at church or weekend workshops, this show will support listeners in weaving ritual, prayer, magic, alignment with the Spiritworld and the Earth into their lives to enrich their experience of living. Review – Animal Totems And The Gemstone Kingdom- Spiritual Connections of Crystal Vibrations and Animal Medicine Book & The Animal Allies and Gemstone Guardians Cards by Margaret Ann Lembo

February, 2019

This
is a book and oracle deck that go together. The book is titled
“Animal Totems and the Gemstone Kingdom” and the cards are
titled “The Animal Allies and Gemstone Oracle Cards”. Both
by Margaret Ann Lembo. The book is 222 pages and the deck has 44
cards with images and written information on both sides of cards.
Artwork by Richard Crookes, crystal photos by Andy Frame Photography
and Ines Blersch Fotografie. Published by Findhorn Press, 2018. The
book retails for $19.99 U.S. and the cards retail for
$15.99 U.S. They are available at both Amazon and Barnes and
Noble.

The oracle deck has 44 animals on one side of the card, and 44 crystals on the other side. Each side has a small image of the respective animal or crystal, and a paragraph with prompts, guidance and food for thought. You could simply pick a card and receive both an animal spirit message and a crystal message. If you just got the deck this would function nicely on its own. I like the variety of animals and crystals, there are some different ones you don’t see often included.

This is a book and oracle card deck that are meant to work together, but honestly both are also great on their own. Both have a ton of information and different content.

The
book is a tool in and of itself as you could just randomly flip to
any page you feel called to to do your reading like that.

Or
you can use the book to gain further insight on each card. There are
two full pages on each corresponding oracle card in the book. After
you read the card, go to the matching card in the book (they are in
alphabetical order by the animal). It has many correspondences and
interesting information to make your experience richer. Another thing
that’s included in this book are multiple great appendixes at the
back as well as a fabulous glossary. You can use the appendix to look
up other crystals that correspond to a given animal, or to look up
animals that correspond to archangels and angels. It even has an
appendix for wheel of life locations for animal totems. How cool is
that? Whether you want this book as a resource or as a tool to
receive messages, either is covered with this book. I’m very
impressed by the amount of content here.

In
conclusion I have really thoroughly enjoyed both this book & the
oracle cards. I have used them for myself and for friends and family
and everyone loved them. Crystals and animals are two of my very
favorite things and this combines them both in a cohesive and unique
way that I haven’t seen before. I recommend them both completely. I
will use these forever and thank you so much to Findhorn Press for
allowing me to review them.

Book Review – The Witchcraft Handbook by Midia Star

January, 2019

Book
Review

The
Witchcraft Handbook:

Unleash
Your Magical Powers to Create the Life You Want

By
Midia Star

This
is a beginner’s book, someone who has some experience may use the
spells in this book just as a jumping off point to create some new
spells. At the very beginning of the book, the first thing the
author writes is “Witchcraft is the practical side of the Wiccan
religion.” I have to say that I disagree with that statement
because not all witches are Wiccan.

I
had a hard time on telling what demographic the writer was going
after with this book. There are spells for home, sex, work, and love.
While at the back of the book there is a section on Dreamboards. In
this section, the writer states that the Dreamboard should be for
your dreams and not those of your friends or parents.

While
the author’s writing is well done, I do have to wonder about the
information this book contains. As far as information on herbs,
crystals, oils, and Moon phases the author is spot on. But there are
other little small things that I feel are misinformation.

Page
79 of the book the author writes in the Did You Know? box:
“Christians once used the pentagram as a religious symbol. Each
point represented the five wounds of Christ. To pagans and to
witches it represents Morrigan, the war goddess who fights for peace
in good fortune for others. If you see the pentagram drawn with the
top point of the star pointing to the bottom of the circle, this
represents dark and sinister magic, so always draw your pentagram
with the top point of the star pointing upwards.” The part about
the Christian’s is correct. I honestly don’t know about the
Morrigan part. But the inverted Pentacle I do know something about.
This is misinformation because on specific paths the pentacle with
the star pointing down is a sign of protection or even a sign of
attaining another degree within that path.

On
page 97 the author writes when talking about A Garden Space: that in
the William Shakespeare’s witches’ famous incantation’ eye of
newt and toe of frog’ actually refers to mustard seeds and a type
of buttercup plant. I had never heard that myself, I would like to
know what research the author used to arrive at that conclusion.

On
page 123 Midia Star writes in the Did You Know? box: “The Druids
where the first to believe and the power of the four-leaf clover.”
Now whether this is true or not I don’t know, again I would like to
know other resources the author used to arrive at that conclusion.

The
book contains no bibliography, or other sources were the author may
have gotten their information. The author does state that they have
tried the spells and they have worked for them. Again, as I said at
the beginning, the information on herbs, oils, candles, and the Moon
phase are all spot on. But, I do take exception to the things I have
listed, due to the lack of the bibliography.

Book Review – Stones of the Goddess: Crystals for the Divine Feminine by Nicholas Pearson

Stones
of the Goddess

Crystals
for the Divine Feminine

by
Nicholas Pearson

Author,
Nicholas Pearson’s book offers a jam-packed volume of wisdom about
crystal lore and usage through the lens of Goddess study and
devotion. Looking at the Notes (Bibliography) section at the back of
the book confirms the extensive research and credible resources used
in compiling this book and providing relevant and cohesive
information.

Mr.
Pearson states in the Introduction…

The inspiration beh
ind
Stones of the Goddess began with my desire to deepen my connection to
the tides of life, magick, and mystery that keep the cosmos in
order.”

I
would echo that by saying that this book will most definitely achieve
that and inform about the crystal kingdom as well. The interweaving
of the sacred Feminine and the Sacred Earth domain are beautifully
represented in a way that is both user friendly and clear in its
intention.

Part
One
begins with the basics of
crystals, their use and the more commonly selected ones. Everything
is covered from soup to nuts; cleansing, storing, selecting and
attuning and programming to name a few. This serves as an excellent
primer for anyone who wishes to use crystals in a more specific way.
This section is filled with photos, which is a great way of use for
identification of crystals and building your own visual crystal
encyclopedia.

Part
Two,
entitled Meeting
the Goddess
, moves
into the stories and energies of the Goddess and application of
Goddess energy. The myths and worship within a matriarchal society
are brought to life and the resurgence of the Divine Feminine in all
of Her forms completes the first stirrings of connection to what is
ancient and organic in nature.

Part
Three
, Crystals
for the Divine Feminine
, brings
the information of crystal use and the Herstory of the Goddess
together seamlessly as a variety of stones are presented. From
the start, the Compendium of Crystals takes a look at crystals
bringing multiple correspondences into play; magickal uses, the
astrological signature, element, Goddess archetype and formation
process. The description of each crystal is complete and diverse in
its presentation.

Completing
the book, the Table of
Correspondences
provides even more
info for a quick selection list broken down into
Goddess-Elemental-Planetary and Zodiacal. All of your favorites are there, as
well as some less common crystals that deserve a closer look.

My
only negative note about this title is that it won’t be released
until February 19.2019. Have mine on pre-order and can’t wait!

Retha’s Crystal Reflections

January, 2019

“Super Seven & Auralite Twenty-Three: All You’ve Ever Wanted to Know”

Hi
everyone and Happy New Year!! I want to start off this year telling
you a bit about both super seven and auralite twenty-three. These are
two of my very favorite crystals because for one they are absolutely
stunning, and secondly they are the ultimate multi-taskers as they
contain many minerals in both and therefore contain the properties of
all the included minerals! How cool is that?! You can wear just one
piece of jewelry and gain the metaphysical benefits of all the
minerals you need! And to me the patterns and variety of colors
included are so very stunning, I have never seen a piece of super
seven or auralite twenty-three that I haven’t loved!

Super Seven”

First
lets talk about super seven. Super seven, just as the name implies,
contains seven minerals. They are amethyst, smoky quartz,
lepidocrocite, cacoxenite, clear quartz, rutile and geothite. All of
these minerals alone are fantastic crystals to wear or use, but
having all seven of these power stones in one is beyond wonderful.

Super seven comes from Espirito Santo (which translates to ‘holy spirit’) in Brazil. It is still relatively rare and therefore expensive. It is also referred to as “Melodys Stone” and “Sacred Seven”. It can be purple, gray, orange, red, brown and clear. This crystal is known as being high vibrational and called a stone of higher consciousness. It is an enhancer of all types. It aids in personal ascension, assists in development of all psychic gifts, aids in channeling, and brings souls into communication with the divine.

It guides to help change the vibrational level of the whole planet! It links humanity. It aids you in taking the right path. It provides clarity of mind and revitalizes and clears the entire energy field. It clears the mind of distracting thoughts and anxiety and brings you to a sacred and tranquil realm. It clears & aligns all the chakras. It is great for all zodiac signs.

It
attunes you to its abilities to trigger development of psychic
abilities to promote further healing of the earth and wellness on all
levels. It provides universal protection and universal creativity. It
guides and inspires creative life force.

This
crystal is healing, grounding, protective, powerful and
transformational. A stone of expansion. It is a great stone for
sleeping as it creates peace and harmony. It is perfect for crystal
healers and meditation as it provides physical, intellectual and
spiritual healing. It also creates stability during chaotic times.
And it has the added benefit of heightening the vibrations of all
other crystals near it. So as you can see, this is a super stone
indeed. I could go on, but for lengths sake I will wrap it up….we
still have auralite twenty-three to dive into!

Auralite
Twenty-Three”

Also
known as “Auralite amethyst” and “kindred spirit
crystal”. Auralite Twenty-three contains 23 minerals. Xray
diffraction has identified these 23 minerals, though much is
comprised of amethyst, citrine, and a rare type of green quartz. Keep
in mind also that scientists cannot identify all of the minerals
within, because a meteor dissipated into the crystal over 1.5 billion
years ago and the minerals are not of this planet. Here are the 23 we
can identify: titanite, cacoxenite, lepidocrocite, ajoite, hematite,
pyrite, magnetite, geothite, pyrolucite, gold, silver, copper,
platinum, nickel, iron, limonite, sphalerite, covellite,
chalcopyrite, gialite, epidote, bornite and rutile. Wow…what a
combo!!! This crystal is a newer find and only comes from Canada. It
is mined in the “cave of wonders” or Boreal forest in
thunder bay, northwestern Ontario. It is one of the very oldest
crystals, more than 1.5 billion years old. It can be gray, purple,
clear, orange and red in color. It can also display beautiful etching
and chevron phantom banding.

This
crystal has an extremely high frequency and an abundance of
properties. It is a stone of new consciousness. It can even be too
strong and intense for some (much like moldavite). Being grounded is
important when working with this stone. It is a master healer and is
meant to be used. This stone is meant to change both your life and
the world around you for the betterment of mankind. Its used for code
clearing, DNA healing and cellular activation. It also activates
spiritual DNA and the pineal gland. It reminds our bodies of its
proper vital functions and brings forth regeneration and
rejuvenation.

Auralite
23 aids us in spiritual evolution, and enhances all spiritual and
psychic gifts. It helps with communication with spirit guides,
angels, ascended masters, and source energy.  It is great for
astral travel, lucid dreaming and accessing the akashic records and
past lives. It can heal the inner child and help release old karmic
patterns.

This
crystal balances and activates all the chakras and even the chakras
above the head and below the feet. It balances and awakens kundalini
energy. It aids us in self-acceptance and self-confidence.

It can also revive our lifeforce, relax the body, remove tension, and relieve headaches and muscle spasms and pain.

It
can help to end bad relationships and create a healthy long lasting
one. It can help to create a divine line from you to your twin
flame.

Auralite
23 is perfect for healing, meditation, deep soul work and exploring
ones own consciousness.

As you can see from the huge amount of properties each of these power crystals have (and this is only some!), they are both very special crystals. If you can get your hands on one or both I highly recommend you give them a try!

Thanks for taking the time to read and I’ll see you back next month!

Crystal
Blessings and Happy 2019!
