Peeking in the Shadows: Crafting a Book of Shadows and Light Second Edition

Last month I shared some documents with you to consider adding to your BOS. This month I want to share some brainstorming prompts to use as you fill more of your BOS pages. On first glance this month’s article may appear less robust than most but I assure you that if you work with each of the questions in a thoughtful and authentic way, you will have more than enough to keep you occupied.

So, let’s get started. Some of these will become checklists for crafting your own rituals. Others are in the moment wanderings and others are for the intention of having a strong foundation to grow upon. Be honest, as no one else will be reading or critiquing. Take as much time as you need with one before moving on to the next.

Sabbats:

What are your favorite three (3) Sabbats?

Why?

How do they differ from one another?

How are they similar?

Which one (1) of these would be best suited to celebrate alone?

What would that celebration look like?

What would be the highlight of your solitary ritual?

 

Deity:

What pantheon are you drawn to?

Do you have any familial lineage within that Pantheon?

Which God is your favorite?

Which Goddess is your favorite?

If you were able to spend the day with either your favorite God or Goddess, who would you pick?

Why?

What characteristic do you identify most with regarding that Deity?

Where do you express that energy within yourself?

 

Magick:

What purpose does Magick serve for you?

How does Magick serve others?

What identifies something as an act of Magick in your opinion?

What has been your most Magickal act?

How much effort did you put into your intention?

How much thought was given to the ethics of the Magick?

How will you determine when to use Magick?

 

A Personal Mission Statement:

What would your personal mission statement be?

What are your goals for your magickal practice?

How will you know when you have achieved your mission?

How will you adapt and modify what you’ve formulated as your mission statement?

Is there success in failure?

Is there failure in success?

 

A Parting Thought:

How would you like to be remembered?

Robin Fennelly is a Third Degree Initiate within The Assembly of the Sacred Wheel Tradition and serves as High Priestess of Coven of the Mystic Path, the 12th Coven within the Assembly of the Sacred Wheel Tradition. She teaches and facilitates classes for the Pagan Experience Study Group that serves as foundation for membership within Coven of the Mystic Path.

She received her 1st, 2nd and finally 3rd degrees within the Assembly Tradition and has served as High Priestess of Oak and Willow since Samhain of 2001.

As a teacher of esoteric and magickal studies she has used Energetic Anatomy, Tarot, Astrology, Hermetic Qabala, Eastern Philosophy, and Numerology as the foundations of her diverse selection of workshops and writings for more than 25 years. Exploration of varied energetic protocol has been the focus of her work for some time now and the information gained through direct experience informs all of her magickal and spiritual work.

Robin’s writings have been featured online, and in print Internationally.  She has authored several books incorporating her unique style of writing making use of poetry, prose and pathworking to enhance the concepts presented.  She has taught extensively throughout the Pagan community, including Sacred Space Conference, Spring Magick, Between the Worlds Interfaith Conference and Free Spirit Gathering Festival this Summer. Her most recent project is hosting an online blogging community entitled The Pagan Experience.

Robin is the owner of Holistic Embrace providing services for mind, body and spirit such as Tarot readings, Astrology reports, Spiritual Guidance and other related offerings.  She lives in Eastern Pennsylvania and her life is blessed by a 40+- year marriage, five children and the opportunity to work in the field of public education.
