Mushroom Medicine

Do you practice self-care? If you’re feeling like you need some help in department of self-care then this amazing deck and booklet will be a much needed tool. As written on the back of box:

“This deck is designed for your Intuition and Imagination. There are no set rules or structures you must follow. The cards and their messages will touch upon the places you need to hold loving-awareness within your Divine Self. This deck is an example of how ‘medicine’ includes what we believe, how we feel, heal, and connect to ourselves, our planet, and each other. May the mushroom medicine messages return you to Life, which is Nature, which is Spirit, which is Love. May they Bless you in all areas of you Life and Reconnect you to the Nature that is You.”

In 2015 Nicole started going for daily nature walks as a way to calm her mind and connect with the peacefulness of nature. As a mother, wife, sister, daughter, therapist, and highly sensitive Soul, Nicole found her Forest walks to be vital in her health and wholeness. It was at this time Nicole started photographing and keeping a nature journal of her encounters with the mushrooms. In 2019 Nicole moved from her home state of Michigan across the country to New Hampshire resulting in a healing crisis that lasted a year and a half filled with intense grief. Nicole had to examine her beliefs around the many roles she played in people’s lives, especially her family’s, and face head on codependency, victim consciousness, and who she ultimately was at the core of her Being, beyond the titles and roles of her everyday life. In the Autumn of 2020, Nicole, while out in the woods surrounded by her friends, the Fungi, received the inspiration to turn her 7 year intimacy with the mushrooms as well as her intense year and a half “death phase” into a Mushroom Oracle deck. At first she got excited imagining gifting her grandchildren with one of her homemade Oracle decks. Spirit had additional plans, sharing with Nicole how the creation of this deck was to bring about healing and reconnection in many others.

Nicole took a deeply personal and painful life experience and turned it into not only a work of beauty and art, but a transformational tool to continue her life’s work as an embodied “Soul” worker. Nicole got her Masters in Clinical and Holistic Social Work, but now calls her sessions, Soul Sessions. Her mission is to help humanity remember the purity and power of their Divine Essence integrated into physical form. Every purchase supports a local artist, solopreneur, and woman-owned business. Nicole takes pride in finding a U.S. printing company to print her Oracle decks as most Oracle decks are printed and shipped from over seas resulting in the use of more fossil fuels, depleting our natural resources, and taking jobs and revenue away from the U.S. economy.

I’ve Got Questions!

This is a great one card a day type of Oracle, and can even be used for 2 or 3 card draws, but I’m not sure I’d use if for the main deck of a reading. More likely as a finally message and/or homework for self-care.

But I also wonder why the deck was limited to 33 cards when there’s so many medicinal mushrooms to pick from! When I first got the deck I pulled out my 8 mushroom raw cacao drink to see if I could pull out the mushroom’s from the deck, and found only 4 of the 8 mushrooms used in the drink. The deck is full of amazing insight, I just feel like I want more… maybe a volume 2 to shuffle together with this beautiful deck.

Final Thoughts.

While this deck could be the start of an amazing series, it’s still a great introduction and hands-on exploration of using our fungi friends for our self-care and wellness rituals. The cards are 5.5”x3.5” and shuffle nicely. The book is written with the deck in mind, the only page numbers match the cards themselves, so the write up for card 22 is on page 22 and makes finding the write-ups easy. I just wish we had gotten more cards and mushrooms in the kit, but can appreciate what messages and mushroom magic are included in this beautiful Oracle deck. My journey began consciously with the Fungi in 2015 when I followed my inner Calling to walk each day and in all weather alone in the woods at the 100 acre country home where I lived. I called this path, The Heart’s Path. My walk became a meditation. In November, 2022 Mushroom Medicine Oracle was birthed, a co-creative weaving of the Soul to Soul Sessions with each of the 33 species in the deck, along with photographs of each Fungi emanating their transmission, extended messages, additional photos, and musings in the full color booklet and 33 card soft tuck box set. The integration of The Fungi into my Consciousness has forever changed my life. It is my joy and pleasure to be a catalyst for others to connect with these Indigenous Ancestors in Body / Mind / Soul too.
