Review of It Lives Inside Bright Blessings Film Lovers! I have news! This review is of a film we watched in a movie theater. We made it FINALLY. We tried all last month to hit Barbie and Oppenheimer, but every time we went, the theaters were swamped. Now, with those huge blockbusters winding down, and school is in session, people are not flooding the theaters like they were. Things have changed at the movies. For one thing, these days, you reserve your seats, which can be a problem if somebody is in your seat, or the people next to you are loud, or goddess forbid, if they smell bad. We…

Review of Live to 100: Secrets of the Blue Zones   Bright Blessings, I watch things while I crochet and quilt, and this week, something wonderful came up on Netflix that I am very excited to share with you. I bet you did not know I sit and craft while I view films and shows, did you? I wonder how many of you out there do the same thing? Well the amazing show I found today is all about what people do in “blue zones” or parts of the world where a large part of the population live long, healthy lives to be 100 years old or even older.…

Review of The Best of Enemies   Bright Blessings, Film Lovers!     At age 47, I thought I had seen it all when it came to movies. The last thing that was a completely new idea that I have seen is The Human Centipede, which, yes, I loved it and also parts 2 and 3. A film I watched today showed me that I have not seen it all and I can’t express how happy I am about that. Watching the film about the ex KKK leader and a black civil rights leader and how they teamed up to fight segregation was something completely new to me. It earned…

Review of The Woman King Bright Blessings Film Lovers! I had the opportunity to watch the film that is ranked number one on Netflix right now, and I’m glad I did. It’s the story of some brave women who united to overthrow their oppressors and convince their king to stop participating in human trafficking. It earned over $94 million and won multiple awards including an African-American Film Critics Association Award and is nominated for many more. It starred veteran actors and some rising stars and won the love and respect of viewers internationally. It is called the Woman King and you can watch a trailer here:     Before…

You are Not My Mother Bright Blessings Film Lovers! I am reviewing an amazing film made in Ireland that will scare your socks off and remind you that magic is real, and we had better pay attention when magical forces are eating away at us. I have to say this is literally one of the best films I have seen in a while and I cannot recommend it enough. It is called You Are Not My Mother, and it was released in 2021 starring Hazel Doupe, Carolyn Bracken, and Ingrid Craigie. Here is a trailer to watch:     It is based on a very old folk belief from…

Review of Gone With The Wind Bright Blessings Film Lovers! Today I am reviewing a blasphemous film that has been one of my favorites since I was a kid. I will say the glamour, unbelievably great acting, magnificent sets, and the fantastic music make this a masterpiece of Hollywood few other films can rival. However, as an adult, I am aware of some ugly truths it laid bare- unintentionally of course- and how it was a sign of bias against both people of color and women in times bygone. The film had the highest budget that any other had at that time, and if you adjust for inflation, it’s still…

Review of Jeepers Creepers 2 Bright Blessings, film lovers. Today’s review focuses on a horror film- my favorite genre- and how the determination of two men overcome a seemingly invincible force…at least for twenty-three years. The film grossed over $100,000,000 worldwide and at the time of release was the highest grossing film for four days straight. It is now in ninth grossing place of all films released before Labor Day. It was nominated for three prestigious awards including the Saturn Award for Best Horror Film. Before reading the review, watch the trailer for Jeepers Creepers 2 here:   The plot is- three days after the events of Jeepers Creepers…

Buffy the Vampire Slayer   Bright Blessings, film lovers!   This month I am reviewing a cult television series that was famous in the 1990’s and early 2000’s and was one of the most popular supernatural horror TV series. It ran for seven seasons, and had a successful spin off show. It spawned what the writer called “a rabid, almost insane fan base,” and earned a spot in TV Guide’s Greatest TV Shows of All Time and Rolling Stone included it in their 100 Greatest TV Shows of All Time as well. It’s Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Here is a clip so you can see what to expect from…

Review of Dumb and Dumber   Bright Blessings Film Lovers! This time, I’m reviewing a comedy you’d think would be the last film that offered a magical lesson, but it does! I can’t count how many times I’ve watched it over the years because it’s just that good. It was released in 1994, and brought a cult following, had two spin-off films, and even a cartoon series. The film drew $247 Million at the box office, won four MTV Movie Awards, made it on Empire Magazine’s Top 500 Films of All Time, and was voted fifth greatest comedy by the readers of Total Film magazine. Not bad. Watch the…

Review of The Guilt Trip     Seth Rogen fans got an extra special treat when he teamed up with the goddess Barbara Streisand as a mother/ son pair in the hysterically funny film The Guilt Trip. You can watch the side-splitting funny trailer here:     In the film, Rogen plays Andy Brewster, an extremely intelligent under achiever who has more education than accomplishments. He’s spent every penny of his inheritance to invent, and produce his so-called wonder cleaning product, ScieoClean- and doesn’t understand why nobody is buying it. He’s chronically single, lives in a lousy apartment, and doesn’t even have any friends. Not only that, he’s chronically…
