{"id":12413,"date":"2016-04-01T01:10:04","date_gmt":"2016-04-01T06:10:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/paganpages.org\/content\/?p=13036"},"modified":"2016-04-01T15:26:21","modified_gmt":"2016-04-01T20:26:21","slug":"seeing-the-signs-22","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/paganpages.org\/emagazine\/2016\/04\/01\/seeing-the-signs-22\/","title":{"rendered":"Seeing the Signs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\">When You Are Unable to See the Signs<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\">I don\u2019t know about you, but I know this has happened to me and more than once \u2013 lay out a spread of Tarot cards or playing cards or some other divinatory devise \u2013 and nothing. Either the meanings elude you or the cards have no relation to one another or to the positions on which they landed or to the entire situation at hand. If this is just for me, I can just put it all away and wait for another day \u2013 when maybe I\u2019ll be \u201cseeing\u201d a little more clearly \u2013 but if I am with a client, then I have to come up with something \u2013 anything \u2013 which is when my story-telling skills really come in handy. Luckily I have very few clients! <\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"> I compare this inability to \u201csee the signs\u201d as a form of writer\u2019s block. Usually when I am unable to concentrate enough to use my divinatory skills, I am also unable to write. And it\u2019s for the same reasons \u2013 anxiety or depression or a combination of both. The reasons may change as time goes by but the moods never do. And they can disrupt one\u2019s spiritual life as thoroughly as they disrupt every other aspect of life. So during these times of writer\u2019s block and inability to \u201csee the signs\u201d, these are some of the things I do:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\">Go outside. Take a walk. Ride a bike. If I\u2019m in the city, I go to the country &amp; if I\u2019m in the country, I go to the city. Walk around your neighborhood like Harriet the Spy taking notes on everyone.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\">Go to the water. Big water, a lake. Running water, a river. Go fishing. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\">Go to a forest. Trees are very nourishing.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\">Go where there are fields. Corn fields in the summer. Wildflowers.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\">Go somewhere you haven\u2019t been in a long time or somewhere you have never been before.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\">Take your camera &amp; take lots of pictures even if you delete most of them later.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\">Go to the library &amp; get out more books than you can carry.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\">Go to a museum. Any kind of museum. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\">Go out to lunch. Get a hotdog on the street or go to some expensive bistro with a friend &amp; have them pick up the tab LOL<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\">Go to the movies. A matinee. Eat popcorn &amp; ruin your dinner.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\">Spend an afternoon reading one of the books you got from the library &amp; drinking tea.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\">Smoke some really good bud. (Did I really say that?)<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\">Sit in meditation.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\">So here are some good ideas to open up your senses and help you \u201csee the signs\u201d and hopefully, write a little too, if that\u2019s what you want to do.
