I tend to forget about numerology. I\u2019m not sure why \u2013 it\u2019s a main component of such divination methods such as the Tarot and certain Oracle card systems and divining by Dominoes and playing cards \u2013 but perhaps that\u2019s why I do <\/em>forget about it. And although I have divination books that have a chapter about numerology in them and I have notes on numerology in my personal Book of Shadows, this little book, titled The Numerology Handbook: Uncover your Destiny and Manifest Your Future with the Power of Numbers<\/a>, by Tanis Gabrielle, published by Fair Winds Press, an imprint of The Quarto Group, is the first book about numerology to ever <\/em>grace my bookshelves. I have to say that I am quite happy to have it there!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\tNumerology\nis of course about numbers. Many people shy away from numbers\nbecause of math anxiety but all you need is the calculator on your\ncell phone to make these easy calculations. The most three important\nnumbers are the day of your birth number, your life purpose number\nand your destiny number (10-11). \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\tYour\nday of birth number is fairly simple. It corresponds to the day that\nyou were born. If you were born on the 3rd<\/sup> of the month,\nthen your day of birth number is 3. If it\u2019s a double-digit number,\nthen you add the two numbers. Sometimes you have to add twice; for\ninstance, I was born on the 19th<\/sup> of May; therefore,\n1+9=10\/ 1+0=1. So my birth number is 1. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\tYour\nlife purpose number is obtained by adding all the numbers in your day\nof birth. For instance, I was born May 19, 1960 (yeah, I know, I\u2019m\nancient). That\u2019s 5 + (1+9) + (1+9+6+0) = 22<\/p>\n\n\n\n

22\nis my Compound Life Purpose Number and 4 is my Root Life Purpose\nNumber. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\tThe\nother most important number is your Destiny Number and that is\nfigured by using the name on your birth certificate. Gabrielle is\nadamant about this: if your name was changed after you were six\nmonths old, you must <\/em>use your original <\/em>name! However,\nyou can use your adopted or chosen name as a \u201csecondary\u201d\ninfluence (21). \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\tPeople\ntend to separate letters and numbers as if they were two different\nways of knowing but as Gabrielle points out, \u201cEach letter resonates\nto a specific number.\u201d (21) The system she uses is the Western\nsystem or the Pythagorean system, after Pythagoras, the Greek\nmathematician who is credited with the discovery of the \u201cPythagorean\nTheorem\u201d \u2013 which if you took geometry you know that\u2019s \u201ca\nsquare plus b square equals c square\u201d \u2013 I had it memorized but I\ncould never quite explain it. I hated <\/em>theorems!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\tAnyway,\nthere\u2019s the chart so you can figure out your <\/em>Destiny Number.\n Using my the name on my own birth certificate, I added up the\nletters in my full given name. The result was 99, which of course\n\u201creduces\u201d to 18 and again to 9. So 99, 18 and 9 are my Destiny\nNumbers. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

OK \u2013 so what do all these numbers mean? The next three chapters explain everything you need to know. Gabrielle reminds us to \u201cMake a note of intensifications \u2013 when the same number repeats.\u201d and to \u201cPay attention to which numerology triad your Three Important Birth Code numbers belong to\u2026\u201d explaining that it makes a difference if the numbers all belong to the same triad or to a different triad (39). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\nLooking\nat my own numbers, I am reading things about myself that I already\nknow \u2013 of course I do, I\u2019m fifty-nine years old! \u2013 but also\nthings that I do not particularly like to admit about myself. But\nthat is the beauty of a book like this. And isn\u2019t that why we read\nthese books? To gain the knowledge to learn more about ourselves? \nAnd our loved ones? \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\tI\nhave the Master Number 22 within my collection of numbers \u2013 as\nGabrielle writes, \u201cMaster Numbers ask more of you \u2013 they also\ngive you the tools to accomplish more!\u201d (77) I have always thought\nthat the number 22 corresponded to the Number 0 but maybe that\u2019s\njust in the Tarot. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I also have the Master Number 99. According to Gabrielle, \u201cWhen your Destiny Number resonates to 99, your life embodies the qualities of Fulfillment through Unconditional Love. All answers and wisdom are contained within you. You are accomplished and have the answer for pretty much anything.\u201d (87). HA! \u201c\u2026have the answer for pretty much anything.\u201d I know plenty of people who would agree with that. Or that I think <\/em>I have the answer for pretty much anything!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\tAfter\nGabrielle covers the meaning of Root Numbers, Master Numbers, and\nDouble-Digit Numbers, she covers Personal Years, Personal Months and\nPersonal Days. Each year, month and day carries \u201ca specific\npersonal vibration\u201d that is yours alone, based on your personal\nbirth numbers (130). \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\tYour\npersonal year starts on your birthday, not January 1. My birthday\n(again) is May 19, so this year is 5+19+2019=2043\/9, so I am having a\n9 year this year. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\tThe\nway you figure your personal month is quite brilliant. There\u2019s a\nchart in the book which makes the whole idea quite easy to\nunderstand. I\u2019m in a 9 year, which kind of messes up the entire\nsystem but it still works if you understand basic math. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

\tThe\nPersonal Day number is also easy to calculate. You just take your\nPersonal Month number and add it to the Day in question. I can see\nthis being very handy if you are looking forward in time \u2013 if you\nare wondering what kind of day you might be having on a certain date\nin a few weeks or months. This is a new idea for me and one I plan\nto start using. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\tAll\nthese numbers comprising your Personal Year, Month and Days are\nimportant when you consider your Power Cycles. As Gabrielle\nexplains, \u201cThere are certain Personal Years, Months and Days that\nactivate one of the numbers in your Three important Birth numbers. \nWhen this happens you will feel an intensification of energy. You\u2019ll\nexperience profound growth\u2026\u201d (138)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\tNot\nonly does she say to \u201cmake a note\u201d of these upcoming Power Cycles\nbut that you will have several of these Power Cycle Personal Days\n\u201ceach and every month\u201d \u2013 so \u201cyou are never without this surge\nof energy.\u201d (138). Isn\u2019t that great to know? Now all we have\nto do is learn how to use our Numbers to harness these Power Cycles \u2013\nwhich is what the next chapter is all <\/em>about!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\tThe\nlast chapter in the book is about addresses \u2013 where you live. She\nstresses that it\u2019s only the numbers in the address that matter, not\nthe name of the street. The only time a letter will matter is if\nit\u2019s part of your address, as in an apartment number, i.e. #3B. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\tI\nwas a bit alarmed because Gabrielle writes to avoid \u201caddresses that\ninitially add up to 11, 29, 38, or 47\u201d (160) and my new apartment\nfalls into that category! Also it\u2019s not recommended for Birth Code\nNumber 1! Maybe that\u2019s why I\u2019ve locked myself out of my\napartment three times already and I haven\u2019t even been here a full\ntwo months! I love it here but I\u2019m beginning to think that this\napartment doesn\u2019t want me here. I signed a year\u2019s lease so I\u2019m\ngoing to be here for a while but this is something to remember the\nnext time I\u2019m looking. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\tAll\nin all, I think this is a fabulous little book and one that I will\nrefer to for years to come. If you are looking for an easy-to-read\nbook with clear charts and major concepts set out with bullet points,\nthis is for you. I cannot recommend it enough. Go to your favorite\nbookseller and buy it today!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
