It is a 52 card deck inspired by
feminine energies and guidance. This deck is not strictly Pagan
based, it leaves its classification very open, in my opinion, so that
people from many different faiths feel comfortable using it. For
example, it uses words like “maiden, Higher Power, Goddess,” and
also refers to the elements, intuition, and messages from Spirit.
However, the author also references “Adam and Eve, the Kingdom of
God”, and does have a card “The Guardian Angel.” If the
different religious references bother you, than this is not the deck
for you. If they do not, and you are able to take those references
and turn them into a guide for your own beliefs, then you will be
satisfied with the deck at the very least.

 The
portraits on the cards are beautiful goddesses, maidens, and strong
women. Physically they are beautiful and the artistic quality gives
you the feel of holding a recently painted portrait. They are not
bright and flashy, they have a calm, quiet focus on their individual
detail. They have a vintage look about them in the artwork itself, as
well as the font the cards are written in.

For
me, the cards are a bit awkward to hold due to the size of them. I
have average size hands and it can be a struggle for me to shuffle
them without dropping any, as they are too big for my hands. The
cardstock that is used however, has a very nice, soft, smooth almost
comforting feel to them- I enjoy holding them, and I like the feel of
them. This is one of the main reasons I continue to work with this
deck, even though I struggle with the size physically. I am drawn to
their energy.

The
The Vintage Wisdom Oracle deck is accompanied by a 79-page
instruction or guide book. It is much smaller than the cards, and
easy to carry with you, if you so chose to continue your education on
the basic meanings of the cards. The book also holds the vintage,
artistic quality of the cards, with the way it is written and the
fonts used.

I
really like the way the author explains each card and offers
different interpretations and doesn’t hold the reader to a black
and white definition. For example, when pulling the Strength card,
the author does reiterate the meaning of physical strength in a
reading, “Great emphasis is often placed on physical strength
because it is tangible and easy to measure, whether in the form of
prowess, status, or worldly power.” However, further into it, she
also opens up the possibility that this card could represent internal
strength, or lack there of it. She also incorporates the possibility
of where you are on your spiritual path in this card, “The quality
of strength you have directly depends on whether you are aligned to
the ego or the Higher Power.”

As a reader myself, it is very
important to me that I do not feel locked into a definition or an
interpretation of a card. Some decks feel more black and white, or
cut and dry and in my opinion, that cripples a reader who truly uses
their intuition to provide messages for the person they are reading
for. I feel that this deck does give you the freedom to concentrate
on the situation, the person, and your intuition and provides you
with the guidance to give an appropriate answer.

If you are open on your
spiritual path and enjoy the Vintage, Victorian Era, and have an
appreciation for classic art, in my opinion, this is a great deck for
you to work with. If you are looking for a Pagan based deck then this
is not the deck for you.

Vintage Wisdom Oracle on Amazon

***

About
the Author:

Jade Perri, the owner and founder of Embrace Your Path. Jade is an eclectic Witch, who has been practicing for more than 10 years and offers guidance on an array of topics.
