{"id":18337,"date":"2019-05-01T01:10:44","date_gmt":"2019-05-01T06:10:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/paganpages.org\/content\/?p=21254"},"modified":"2019-05-01T12:17:14","modified_gmt":"2019-05-01T17:17:14","slug":"wreathing-the-wheel-6","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/paganpages.org\/emagazine\/2019\/05\/01\/wreathing-the-wheel-6\/","title":{"rendered":"Wreathing the Wheel"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p style=\"font-size:18px\"><strong>Beltane, the Maypole, Interweaving<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For\nMay, I\u2019d like to talk about Beltane and the processing of weaving.\nIf you\u2019re familiar with the Celtic holiday of Beltane, then you\nalready know that this holiday is often celebrated with a decoration\nthat serves as ritual, dance, entertainment, and more: the Maypole.\nWhile the exact symbolism of the Maypole is disputed, it is generally\nconsidered to be a magical appeal for fertility, power, and\ntransformative forces coming together. In the Tarot, this process may\nbe symbolized by the Lovers in the Major Arcana, or the Four of Wands\nin the Minor Arcana: different forces coming together in a\ncelebratory act to create something entirely new.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/paganpages.org\/emagazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/Wreathing1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-21255\" width=\"536\" height=\"402\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>For\nthe monthly spread for May, I decided to use a simple Maypole theme\nto help me consider and incorporate this theme into my month. It\u2019s\nvery easy to accomplish a beautiful look with very little effort with\nthis kind of a theme \u2014 just pick out your favorite rainbow-colored\nset of pens, and have fun making curls! But I also wanted to consider\nthe theme of the Maypole and extend it in a more contemplative and\nspiritual way in my own life. This exercise may seem like an odd one\nfor a bullet journal \u2014 especially since bullet journals are usually\ngeared towards organization and lists \u2014 but I wanted to explore the\nidea of interweaving themes of life with the interweaving ribbons of\nthe Maypole. If you\u2019re looking to journal spiritually, you may\nenjoy doing a similar type of exercise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/paganpages.org\/emagazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/Wreathing2.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-21256\" width=\"553\" height=\"415\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>While I\u2019m only working part-time, I have a lot going on these days: I do freelance art and design, I write articles for <a href=\"https:\/\/sarahmcmenomy.tumblr.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">my own blog<\/a> and PaganPagesOrg, I\u2019m designing a Tarot deck and writing a book to go with it, I\u2019m growing an extensive garden with various types of seeds, I\u2019m making herbal medicine, I\u2019m learning sewing, I\u2019m studying chemistry, I\u2019m cooking lighter, I have a new puppy I\u2019m training\u2026 lately it seems that I\u2019m doing a lot of things, but they\u2019re all going in different directions!\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For\nthis theme, I decided to list out a bunch of the different things\nthat I\u2019m trying to accomplish in shorthand: train the new puppy,\nmake sure he gets nails regularly trimmed, bathed; work on my Tarot\ndeck, book, drawing\u2026 etc. What your list contains will certainly be\nunique to you, and there are lots of different ways to organize it,\nbut I decided to use color symbolically in this theme: health\nconcerns are blue, money matters are orange, my gardening goals are\ngreen, and so on. Many different types of color associations could be\nused in this way, and they are all sure to be beautiful!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/paganpages.org\/emagazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/Wreathing3-.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-21257\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This\nfelt like an unusual exercise for me, because it felt like\nanti-organization to take all the themes in my life and scatter them\nto the wind in this way.
