This cycle involves four planets and is spread over a\ndecade.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\nWith\nthat, she welcomes readers to understand life\u2019s most important\ncycle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\nAs\nshe began to study astrology in her early-50s, Bell came to realize\nit wasn\u2019t about something happening in the sky, but something\nhappening within each of us, \u201cand could be a valuable tool for\nself-discovery.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\nIn\nthe introduction, she explains the Chiron Return takes place between\n49-51, when the comet returns to its place in the birth chart. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\n\u201cIn\nmythology, Chiron was a great healer and teacher, and this passage is\none of the best times to become fully conscious of whatever has not\nbeen healed. For many of us, our lives take off in a different\ndirection from what we had anticipated, and often there is failure or\nloss that serves as a catalyst for this,\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\nShe\nhad had my full attention. That\u2019s when I got divorced, moved and\nchanged jobs.  \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\nOn\nthe next page she notes that Uranus takes 84 years to come back to\nits place in the natal chart, and that in our early 60s, it makes the\nlast aspect, giving us a second wind. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\n\u201cThere\u2019s\na sense of freedom that comes from this edgy aspect, provided we are\nwilling to take some risks and extend ourselves beyond our comfort\nzone. I wished I\u2019d had this book starting with my Saturn\nRerun around age 29, because \u201cMidlife Is Not a Crisis\u201d serves as\na guidebook to the landscape on the second half of our journey. She\nexplained, \u201c[I]t helps to have some knowledge of the terrain, so\nyou can prepare and pack accordingly.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\nAt\nthe beginning of the book is a concise overview of astrology that\nintroduces beginners to astrological terms, and the concepts of\nplanets, signs and houses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\nBell\nparaphrases Carl Jung, writing, \u201cAnything born a moment in time has\nthe characteristics of that moment. The birth chart is a picture of\nthe sky at the moment of birth. It is a snapshot of the heavens and\nall the planets. It is frozen in time. Our freedom lies in how we respond: consciously or\nunconsciously, awake or asleep, with fear or with love,\u201d Bell\nwrote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\nShe\nsums up the astrology chapter by saying, \u201cIt\u2019s all good.
