When I first picked up this book my initial reaction was how beautiful and vibrant the cover art<\/span> is;<\/span> I did the standard flip through,<\/span> and the pages are sleek, almost like photo paper (not a fan)<\/span> but<\/span> it looked like a quick read. <\/span>O<\/span>h boy was I mistaken. It isn\u2019t a quick read but it\u2019s<\/span> a<\/span> GREAT<\/span> read. There is a total of 8 chapters<\/span> and 1<\/span>28<\/span> pages.<\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The introduction discusses the authors<\/span> beginnings,<\/span> talking<\/span> on folk magic and the authors own Shamanic preferences. The introduction gave <\/span>a <\/span>detailed overview<\/span> of the chapters which helped<\/span> later when I wanted to go back and re-read information. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Chapter 1 discusses Diagnosing and re-mediating space, <\/span>an<\/span> overview of Shamanism, folk healing, <\/span>&<\/span> folk curing. <\/span>It was<\/span> eye opening<\/span> as I identify<\/span> with some of these. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Chapter 2 discusses<\/span> visualization, personal power, focus and specificity, tools for working magic and an overview of Hoodoo <\/span>(<\/span>African American<\/span> rootwork tradition and practices<\/span>)<\/span> to add to you<\/span>r<\/span> repertoire. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Chapter 3 might have been one of my favorites, as a Cottage witch myself cleansing and clearing the spaces in my home are second nature. <\/span>T<\/span>here are several wonderful recipes<\/span> and ideas for floor washes in this chapter, as well as listing commercially available products. The section on sprays and spritzes<\/span> for pick-me-ups in the space were also quite delightful and the author throws in 2 recipes<\/span> to get you started. The author touches on jinx reversing, dealing<\/span> with harmful objects and<\/span> visualization<\/span> and energy healing. The visual cleansing of ho\u2019oponopono is discussed a few times and I am quite excited about it. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

At the end of ALL the Chapters there is A sub-section for those learning Shamanic Journeying<\/span> I haven\u2019t<\/span> tried it yet but plan to soon. There are several questions set up and a small section to help navigate through your journey. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I found this book to be very helpful and couldn\u2019t wait to keep going. Chapter 4 discusses Protection<\/span> after cleansing a very important step in my opinion. The author lists several herbs and again the Hoodoo and folk magic, rootwork is seen and used. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

There is a small section discussing, talismans, amulets, and wards there are several simple examples and uses named, so that was fun. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Chapter 5 discussed Haunted spaces. The chapter was respectful as it discussed the restless and wandering. It discusses ghosts, helping spirits, and ancestral ties. Ghost traps, protections, and dealing with trickster spirits is gone over<\/span> and several floor<\/span> washes were suggested.<\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Chapter<\/span> 6\/7 discuss the Spirits of a place weather it is a home, backyard, office space, etc. <\/span>F<\/span>ollowed by<\/span> tools to<\/span> use to diagnose a space. I really enjoy the <\/span>\u201cFelt Sense Exercise\u201d on pg.84. <\/span>P<\/span>endulum, divination, and tarot are discussed<\/span> as well as Shamanic<\/span> Journeying, in which the book has gone over and explored quite nicely throughout<\/span> the book.<\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Closing<\/span> Chapter<\/span> titled Saints, Angels, and Patron Spirits<\/span> was <\/span>a<\/span> helpful guide to those who can<\/span> help cleanse and protect <\/span>the <\/span>home<\/span> and office alike.<\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Overall,<\/span> I enjoyed this book immensely! It was helpful, informative, easy to follow<\/span> and of course colorful<\/span> with all its lovely illustrations<\/span> is always a plus.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
