This book introduces beginners to the metaphysical science of numerology, which dates back to Pythagoras in the sixth century BCE, showing how adding numbers together can offer information about everything from personality to life events. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

All the basics are covered in a Q&A format, chapter by chapter, exploring the questions most often asked about numerology. There are <\/span>\u201cFocus On<\/span>\u201d boxes that provide a deeper understanding of key terms and aspects. <\/span>\u201cTry It<\/span>\u201d boxes help readers calculate their own numbers. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe whole of life is based on numbers \u2026 everything moves in numerical cycles from 1 to 9,\u201d Sonia Ducie states in her book \u201c<\/span>A Practical Introduction to Numerology,<\/span>\u201d one of a dozen she\u2019s written that have been translated into 14 languages.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In <\/span>Chapter 1<\/span>, she explains the history and applications of numerology, and defines its many systems including sacred geometry, divination, Chinese, Pythagorean, Vedic and Mayan. She specializes in esoteric numerology, originating out of Ancient Syria, which focuses on the inner journey of the soul and relies on intuition to help see life\u2019s big picture.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Soul, in this context, is \u201cour inner connection to the energy we are made <\/span>up of, which also connects us to everyone else.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

After a brief interpretation of the numbers 1 to 9, readers are introduced to the various numbers that are covered such as personality, life\u2019s purpose, karmic keys, name, soul vibration and personal year.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

If you are impatient, you can jump right to chapter 3 (page 28) and calculate your personality number, look up its meaning and move on with each chapter, calculating more numbers and looking up their meanings.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I am not an expert on numerology and it\u2019s been a long time since I paid much attention to more than my personal year. I am coming to the end of my Number 9 year and much of the description she gives does fit. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

While going online for a free numerology calculator to verify I added my letters and numbers correctly, I discovered while Ducie uses the day of the month you were born as your personality number, others use your name at birth, which for Ducie labels as your name number. I assume this is because systems are different.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

She tells readers, \u201c[T]he descriptions in this book are from the way I see and experience numbers. It\u2019s essential for you to develop your own relationship with numbers \u2013 to arrive at your own conclusions, beliefs and interpretations based on experience, and to discover your own path in life.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Sonia Ducie discovered numerology by accident. Her father was a mathematician and from childhood she was fascinated by numbers.
