David LeBarron has a great new band called Half Tongue Tribe with an upcoming album \u2018All Acts of Joy\u2019 and it\u2019s all about Witchcraft and Wicca and Goddess-love and freedom. For those of us who are older and who remember bands the revered the old gods \u2013 whether they were local bands or more regional \u2013 Half Tongue Tribe brings back a lot of memories. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"> Half Tongue Tribe \u2013 come from Los Angeles, California, and the main writer of the songs is David LeBarron and it\u2019s his voice that you hear on the songs. But, Dan Graul is the lead guitarist and you also hear his voice on the songs \u2013 listen closely, because the two voices will interweave beautifully. Will Norris plays bass and Lee Harcourt does the percussion. Rebecca Graul and Shanna Beauchamp do the background singing, cackling, and conjuring. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"> They\u2019re calling it an album but it\u2019s actually an EP but who the fuck cares? Ya know? I would <i>love <\/i>to hear their other tunes! Even if it\u2019s covers! Damn, if they ever come to Buffalo, I\u2019ll be taking a nap and staying up way past my bedtime to see them at whatever nightclub they\u2019re playing at \u2013 cuz I don\u2019t go out to see band anymore \u2013 but I <i>will <\/i>make an exception for Half Tongue Tribe \u2013 they are <i>that good <\/i> &#8211;and I really want to hear what other tunes they play. And I want to dance to them!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">\u201c<span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Mama Death\u201d is kind of beautiful chant you can use in your own ritual and it\u2019s the perfect opening to the album. I love how all the voices blend together. And I love the little bells! It\u2019s so pagan! It\u2019s so perfect! <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><a name=\"_GoBack1\"><\/a> \u201c<span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Henri Roussseau\u201d is one of the best songs I have ever heard in my <i>life! <\/i>It\u2019s so funny! It made me think of the tunes of a band I used to hang with back in 1979 \u2013 I\u2019m not going to get into that here \u2013 but wow, great memories. To make me think of my old punk days \u2013 that\u2019s <i>something. <\/i><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">\u201c<span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Missionary Man\u201d is a cover and it rocks! It\u2019s totally dancdeable and that\u2019s THE one thing I look for in a song \u2013 other than \u201ccan I sing this song\u201d \u2013 because I totally love to dance. I tried to get it to play several times but it wouldn\u2019t work. It kept cutting out at 1:31 minutes. Maybe the Mercury Retrograde had something to do with that. I\u2019ll try again after Mercury goes direct. I really want to hear the entire song. Totally pagan in concept, it has the folk-rock sound of the late sixties that an old babe like me totally loves. I would <i>love <\/i>to dance in spirals in the sunshine to this tune! At a pagan festival, ya know? Hearing it just brought the image of people dancing in multicolored clothes with smiles that just won\u2019t quit.
