Meet Kelli P. Cooke<\/b><\/span><\/h1>\n

Originally from Georgia, Kelli P. Cooke left in 2014 to restart her life after a relationship ended. She called to the universe to direct her to where she belonged and whom she should be with. A friend she\u2019d known for years appeared in her mind, but she dismissed it at the time. About a month later, the two started chatting, two months later they had an official date and about a month later she moved to Connecticut.\u00a0\u201cHere I\u2019ve found community unlike I\u2019ve ever experienced before, and embraced who I\u2019ve always been,\u201d she said.
\nUpon meeting, we found we had many things in common, including our birth day. As a Pisces, Kelli said she works best with water and full moon energy. More recently she\u2019s been working with fire.<\/span><\/p>\n

3. How do you make your living? <\/b><\/span><\/strong>
\nKeeping the house up at the moment. Deciding what to do with the next phase of earning or being.<\/span><\/p>\n

4. Are you out of the closet? \/ Have you felt threatened?<\/b><\/span><\/strong>
\nI am not completely out of the closet. I come from a very religious Southern Christian background. My mother would freak out if she knew I was a practicing witch. No, I\u2019ve never felt threatened<\/span><\/p>\n

5. When did you first know you were a witch? How long have you been practicing? <\/b><\/span><\/strong>
\nI think I\u2019ve always known that I was different than other folks. I\u2019ve seen spirits since I was a little one, and I remember talking to entities that my mom laughed off as \u201cimaginary friends.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

6. How do you define your practice? Do you follow a specific tradition?\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/strong>
\n<\/span><\/strong>I attune with nature and the cosmos, so natural or green witch. Though flow witch might be closer to what I do, as I find what flows naturally and go with that. I look at all the traditions and teachings, taking what I need and leaving the rest behind.<\/span><\/p>\n

7. What one object must be on your altar for it to be an altar?<\/b><\/span><\/strong>
\n<\/span><\/strong>Stones that I\u2019ve picked up, seashells, candles and a cauldron<\/span><\/p>\n

8. Do you have a daily practice?<\/b><\/span><\/strong>
\n<\/span><\/strong>I focus on gratitude, journaling 10 things to be grateful for daily. And I pull a tarot card on the Galaxy Tarot app on my phone. It records the daily card so I can look back later.<\/span><\/p>\n

9. How do you respond when someone asks, \u201cAre you a good witch or a bad witch?\u201d<\/b><\/span><\/strong>
\n<\/span><\/strong>I am both, a witch of balance. Trusting in the flow of the universe. Understanding that both good and bad are present. Choosing to keep kindness and love held above all else as often as possible.<\/span><\/p>\n

10. Do you have a familiar?<\/b><\/span><\/strong>
\n<\/span><\/strong>I have had several. Both cats and dogs. Currently it is my dog, Zoe.<\/span><\/p>\n

11. What gifts, skills or powers to you share?<\/b><\/span><\/strong>

Learn to forgive who you were yesterday so you may grow today into a wiser version of yourself. If the energy feels off, it probably won\u2019t work out the way you are hoping don\u2019t force it, instead flow with it, surrender to it so you may learn to harness it.<\/span><\/p>\n

I went on to explore many practices including Zen, astrology, color therapy, native traditions, tarot, herbs, candle magic, gems, and, as I moved into my mother years, Buddhism, the Kabbalah and Reiki. The first man I dated after my divorce was a witch who reintroduced me to the Craft, this time by way of the Goddess. For 11 years I was in a coven, but with retirement, I have returned to an eclectic solitary practice. When accepting the mantle of crone, I pledged to serve and teach. This is what I do from my skoolie \u2013 a 30-year-old school bus converted into a tiny house on wheels that I am driving around the country, following 72-degree weather, emerging myself into nature, and sharing magic with those I meet.
