There is a book that I carry with my in my bag wherever I go. <\/span>\u00a0It<\/span>\u2019s called <\/span>\u201cMother Wit, A Feminist Guide to Psychic Development (subtitle: Exercises for Healing, Growth and Spiritual Awareness). It was written by Diane Mariechild in the early 1980<\/span>\u2019s. I am not exactly sure why I carry it as I have read it a couple of times. <\/span>\u00a0It does seem to be easy to pick up and read while waiting \u2014 in a doctor<\/span>\u2019s office, in a parking lot, etc. <\/span>\u00a0I\u2019ve done most of the exercises within the book, some of which were familiar to me from two decades of Kundalini Yoga and many more years of studying as I have journeyed along my spiritual path.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I think one of the reasons why is that there is a term within the book that really called out to me; that term is Woman Soul. <\/span>\u00a0Just for a moment, close your eyes and think about that \u2014 Woman Soul. <\/span>\u00a0Just thinking it brings me to my happy place.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

To me, this means not only an individual woman<\/span>\u2019s soul, but also the souls of all women, collectively.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Woman Soul <\/span>\u2013 \u00a0Traveling our individual paths, while other women are doing the same<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Woman Soul <\/span>\u2013 Contemplating change so that women are safer the world over, as well as other endangered humans and all the creatures of the planet<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Woman Soul <\/span>\u2013 Working together to save Mother Earth from the indignities done to Her by man and his greed<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Woman Soul <\/span>\u2013 Uniting with other women who feel as you do<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Woman Soul <\/span>\u2013 Searching and finding the Goddess, within and without<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Woman Soul <\/span>\u2013 Coming together with others of like mind<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Woman Soul <\/span>\u2013 Realizing that you are never really alone<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Woman Soul <\/span>\u2013 Knowing, finally, that you are enough<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I believe that the spirit of a woman is to endure. <\/span>\u00a0In traditional Judeo-Christian beliefs, not only are we born with original sin on our Woman Soul, but we are further cursed by just being a woman, due to the actions of Eve. <\/span>\u00a0We are raised being taught that we are second best. <\/span>\u00a0We are bombarded by media telling us how to look, what to wear, how to behave. <\/span>\u00a0Fairytales teach us that to be successful in this world, we need to find and keep a prince to take care of us. <\/span>\u00a0I would hazard a guess that this is the way most of us were brought up. <\/span>\u00a0Additionally, this does not even take into consideration our own individual experiences within our families, the hurtful words, the <\/span>judgments<\/span> of not measuring up, compounded by the sexual harassment, abuse and assault that many of us have been victim to within our personal and professional lives.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Woman Soul <\/span>\u2013 we are strong and we endure.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Some of us take these experiences and embark upon a journey of self-awareness and self-realization. <\/span>\u00a0We find our way to what makes sense to us <\/span>\u2013 the Goddess. <\/span>\u00a0She has always been and She will always be. <\/span>\u00a0She strengthens our Woman Soul, our Woman Spirit. <\/span>\u00a0Because of Her, we are strong and we endure. <\/span>\u00a0 We continue our journey, following our path toward a stronger Woman Soul, meeting others through social media, strengthening the collective Woman Soul; with each connecting strand, we become stronger and we fight injustice and we continue to endure.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I, personally, thank the Goddess for the connections that I have made on social media within the Goddess and feminist circles. <\/span>\u00a0I have come to think of some of these women as special friends. <\/span>\u00a0They strengthen my Woman Soul and my Woman Spirit. <\/span>\u00a0 I become stronger because of them, and I endure.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
