I&#8217;ve had so many people look at me as if I were explaining some outrageous ritual; sadly, most of them have been women. I went to a local metaphysical store, run by a woman, to see if she would have an interest in hosting one and her response was stunning &#8211; this was a suburb, she couldn&#8217;t do anything like that, which was also her response to Goddess classes. I was disappointed and distressed. It shows us how Red Tents are so very necessary, now more than ever.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><span lang=\"en-US\">Ms. Clements and Ms. Hannibal have answered the question of what a Red Tent is, and so much more.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><span lang=\"en-US\">This book is filled with history, links to videos, and plenty of resources to continue your research, if that is your desire.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><span lang=\"en-US\">The authors stress diversity and inclusivity in all Red Tents and give ideas on how to accomplish this and open Red Tents to all women, regardless of gender, color, physical or mental handicap, all important subjects. They discuss white supremacy, cultural appropriation, and all manner of social and racial justice.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><span lang=\"en-US\">The authors speak frankly and openly about their goals and go into great detail on what we are up against, as women, and in opening up minds to discuss what has always been taboo to discuss. Red Tents are safe and sacred space to all who enter and they help women find, and step into, their power, in the presence of other women,<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><span lang=\"en-US\">We learn how we must take care of ourselves, first, in order to help others, whether or not we wish to start a Red Tent community. We must honor ourselves first, a hard concept for many women.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><span lang=\"en-US\">Outlined within this book are the answers to questions such as: Why do you want to start a Red Tent? How do you start? How do you find your sisters and build a vision for the community. There are answers here to questions that you have not even thought of yet. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><span lang=\"en-US\">There is a section on the different types of leadership and how to decide which way to go, honoring everyone&#8217;s personal boundaries, etc.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><span lang=\"en-US\">They continue to how to set up a Red Tent, personal preference on decorating, preparing the space, setting a sacred circle. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><span lang=\"en-US\">Personally, I liked the section on what you do in the middle; you open, you talk, and then what? Ideas on what comes next are always helpful and welcome, and there are plenty here.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><span lang=\"en-US\">Each section has reflective questions to help us to begin the process of starting this journey, whether it be your own personal journey, or as part of the Red Tent experience.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><span lang=\"en-US\">The book is interspersed with the personal comments and feelings of the many women who have experienced a Red Tent first-hand. These are profound and powerful, some sad and heartbreaking, but all are from the heart and spirit. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><span lang=\"en-US\">This is a well-written, well-research book on Red Tents, where we came from and where we are going. I applaud the authors for the amount of information contained here. Anyone who is interested in what a Red Tent is, or wanting to find out more to decide if wanting to start one, they can find all they need in this one book.
