Robin Herne\u2019s volume explores the philosophy and theology of the Egyptians, alongside contextual geographical and historical information, ethics, mysticism, an exploration of magic and a \u201chow to\u201d approach of connecting with these ancient spirits and deities in our modern world.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">I\u2019ve been fascinated by the Ancient Egyptians since I was a very small child, but hadn\u2019t ever really explored them as a part of modern spirituality. I knew about the cult of Isis and a little about Ra and Bast \u2013 the latter thanks to my obsessions with cats! But my knowledge was really just scratching the surface. This short but succinct volume is ideal for someone like me, who has the interest but hasn\u2019t yet taken the time to really dig into the combined history and mythology of the Egyptians, and the myriad way both those aspects have intertwined into modern Paganism, spirituality, and the occult. What\u2019s even better is that, thanks to a solid geographic and historical background plus plenty of detail about the various deities, cosmology, magic, and even other beings within Egyptian spirituality and culture, I believe this book will also be of interest even to experienced practitioners of Egyptian-inspired spiritual practices. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Beyond the varied and useful content, Robin writes in an inclusive and open voice, which I personally find very appealing. Even in the historical sections, there\u2019s nothing dry about the facts and figures, and you can tell the author has a passion for the subject matter with an enthusiasm that capture the reader and pulls them along for the ride. As the author points out, there\u2019s over 5000 years of history across various dynasties, and far too much to put into one volume, yet Robin manages to eke out all the important points making this a useful volume that\u2019s also a fantastic read. I hope Robin may expand upon the contents of this book in the future \u2013 perhaps a series in the making?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">All in all, I highly recommend this book to anyone with either a passing interesting or a passion for the Egyptians or Egyptian religion, spirituality, or magic.
