I was not sure what to expect from Enochian Vision Magick as I leafed through it before sitting down to read \u2013 there were lots of charts, tables, and diagrams. I was not familiar with the work of Elizabethan era magician Dr. John Dee and his scrying partner Edward Kelley and their communication with angelic beings, except in the most general sense. So, with some trepidation, I prepared to be confused or at the very least, bored. Instead, I was fascinated \u2013 riveted even \u2013 by Lon Milo DuQuette\u2019s clear, readable introduction to Enochian visioning. He has written this book as a practical guide for people who want to use this magic. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

At the same time, he provides an orderly narrative of how this system came into being, well-cited to primary sources for those of us who enjoy the research, with explanations that include later adaptations by the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn. I found this book to be a perfect introduction to this system of ceremonial magic for angelic communication. It piqued my curiosity and answered my questions. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

DuQuette\u2019s step-by-step descriptions of the tables and the instructions that were provided to Dee and Kelley by the angels and his explanations of how the tables interrelate lights up the same part in the brain where we experience \u201cAha\u201d moments
\nputting a jigsaw puzzle piece in place. DuQuette gives us a clear idea of how to set out on the path of practice, with advice on how to make the tools he deems necessary to the work, with patterns included for making them out of paper. As he says, \u201c\u2026if you can\u2019t make a real magick Ring out of paper, then you\u2019ll not be able to make one out of gold\u2026\u201d <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Appendices are solid resources for anyone wanting to take a step into practicing this magic; there is a suggested ceremony of preparation included and a deeper dive into the tables and the calls used to summon the angels, among other tools. I appreciated the final Appendix, which describes experiences that DuQuette\u2019s students had with this work in their own words. While I am not likely to become a practitioner of this magical system, this is a great book for rounding out magical education. Next time I see references to Dr. John Dee or Enochian vision magic, I will feel well-served by having read it. I highly recommend it!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
