Equinox of the Heart<\/b><\/u><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/h1>\n

 <\/p>\n

March winds come before<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

April showers<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

May flowers<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Cleaning the earth<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Blowing away<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Winter\u2019s chilling dust<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Remnants of rot<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Leaf piles dead<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Slushy, slimy heaps of <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Seasonal trash<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Yet busting out with life<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Wood lice, slugs, snails, early caterpillars<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Then birds that come to feast<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Blackbirds, robins, and now the mistle thrush<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Pecking industriously <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Through a compost carnival<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Early spring\u2019s banquet<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Against a backdrop of<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Cautious blossom.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

My heart, my heart blooms like the<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Snowdrop the<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Crocus the<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Narcissus<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Waiting to be plucked<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

To plunge me down into the Earth<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

To meet the end of one great thing<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

And the start of another<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

As the wheel creaks round<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Stiff and cold<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Frostbitten<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Yet moving, always moving<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

But here we pause.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The equinox.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The point of balance.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Halfway twixt Solstices<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Where light and dark<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Shake hands<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Call it a draw<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

And embrace something<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

As close to balance<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

As we ever see.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

My heart, my aching heart<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Yearns to feel it<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

To surround itself in black and white<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

And day and night<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

And joy and fright<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

And now it might<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In the sun\u2019s first tentative rays<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The splashes of green by the way<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The thunderous call of the splitting sky<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Clouds banished while gulls cry<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

It might indeed<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Might sit in that grey, cool point<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Of balance.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The thrush sings<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Tips my scales<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

My heart bursts<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The dam broken, gushing<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

But that\u2019s okay<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Spring is here<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

And summer? On the way.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
