In \u201cShamanic Dreaming: Connecting with Your Inner Visionary,\u201d<\/em> Carol Day teaches a formula she created to help others \u201center a space where connection, embodies practice and open-mindedness can all be achieved.\u201d Called the \u201cPresence and the Three Pillars,\u201d<\/em> Day illustrates this visionary practice with the concepts of trust, knowing, and nature forming a triangle within a circle. \u201cPresence is the central pole of the entire visionary practice. It is what runs through everything. It is the act of being present and of not running away or rushing. Presence is when we can unconditionally, while holding awareness and compassion, be able to be present with what is,\u201d she writes at the start of Chapter 1.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The first exercise calls for regularly sitting with a tree in a spacial place in nature and becoming present, tuning in to all the senses. Becoming familiar with this space is important because it is visited in other exercises throughout the book. This presented an unexpected problem because I am a nomad on the road and do not have a tree with which to sit. I used the memory of an important tree from my childhood, but my connection was not strong enough as the tasks continued, such as bringing myself \u201cto the beginnings of everything\u201d and allowing a conversation to happen. I continued reading and executing the tasks as best I could, but opening to the future and finding guides did not happen for me after repeated attempts.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The role of a visionary is to dream the future into life. Day shows how with a \u201cplay\u201d staged in two acts. Act 1 has fourteen chapters in five scenes. It works with a visionary model to learn why we are here and the possibilities that await. Act 2 introduces techniques to travel through time in a dozen chapters grouped in five scenes. Shamanic tools and step-by-step practices are presented to guide the reader to set intentions, connect with guides, receive visions, release past burdens, and see clearly into the future. Following her detailed instructions, it should be possible to expand the senses, connect with spirit helpers, be open to visions, and allow messages to come through.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The book concludes with a finale \u2013 the vision hoop ceremony to bring the practice of deep internal questioning and connection to various realms full circle.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
