(She looked it up later. Eighteen percent survival rate.) If I hadn&#8217;t had the heart attack in my doctor&#8217;s office I probably wouldn&#8217;t have made it.<\/p>\n<p>Sparkle cancelled all of her classes and drove to the hospital every day to be with me. She brought me things to read and notebooks to write in. She made sure I had plenty to drink. We held hands a lot. She healed me.<\/p>\n<p>Now, eight days later, I&#8217;m in bed at home, scribbling down my latest column. My familiars can tell something&#8217;s off and they seldom leave my side now. Delinquent the doxie is not a coddler by nature, but she&#8217;s superglued to my hip while I work. I look around for Tabitha the tabby and discover her on my bedside nightstand, her head inside my coffee cup up to her shoulders. (I&#8217;m allowed a single cuppa daily now, as opposed to my previous thermos full. I guess Tabitha is just making sure I don&#8217;t overdo. Slurp.)<\/p>\n<p>I figure I&#8217;m lucky to still be alive!\u00a0<em>Every<\/em>thing that happens from this point on is gravy!!
