It&#8217;ll also be a micro moon, looking smaller and dimmer than normal. (Much like yours truly.) It was called &#8220;Strawberry Moon&#8221; by Algonquian tribes, among others, for the brief harvest season of&#8211;you guessed it, Pilgrim&#8211;strawberries that accompanied its appearance.\u00a0 This year it shows up in Sagittarius, which rules connections personal and global.<\/p>\n<p><em>(Old Farmer&#8217;s Almanac.)<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>For Your Deliberation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Remember last column&#8217;s\u00a0<em>Wey&#8217;s Predictions,\u00a0<\/em>where I talked (ranted) about insect population decline? Well, recently I spoke to Trish, our newest Townie and resident genius. She was already familiar with the topic and suggested I check out insect decline in Germany.<\/p>\n<p>I almost wish I hadn&#8217;t. 2017 and 2019 studies suggest that flying insects declined by over 75% in 30 years within 60 protected areas (nature parks, national parks, conservation areas and World Heritage Sites). Scientists weren&#8217;t sure why, but suspected pesticide, intensive agriculture and climate change are to blame.
