I know it’s been quite some time, and I do apologize. Life has its way of changing your plans, but alas, I’m here and ready to get back in the saddle. I’m going to start off with a personal endorsement of a new book out about the Roman pantheon and religion. It’s expertly written and researched, and by one of my author friends, Rachel S. Roberts. Rachel has shown in her past books that her knowledge on the ancient Roman religion goes far deeper than your average textbook, and to my knowledge, she is the only author in recent times to write on the subject in English, from a practitioner’s point of view. For those like myself who first heard the call of the Ancient Greek and Roman Gods, texts on them in a modern context were nearly impossible to find for decades; thankfully, that is starting to change with the Hellenic pantheon, but the Latin/Roman pantheon seemingly doesn’t get its due, even if it is similar to the Hellenic.

Rachel gives both the experienced Roman pagan as well as the beginner everything they need to know about the Ancient Roman religion, their beliefs, their Gods, and their celebrations. Rachel is even kind enough to offer free meditations and similar things on her Youtube, which is given at the end of the book. You really won’t find a more thorough, well-researched and practitioner-based book on Roman/Latin paganism out there. I say this not only as a friend of Ms. Roberts’, but as a reader who has quite scrupulous standards when it comes to research and validity of information, especially as it pertains to my occult and spiritual books.

I have no qualms whatsoever about this book; in fact, it helped reignite certain parts of myself (spiritually) that had laid dormant for some time. I’ve also consequently taken up learning Latin, not only because of this book, but because I’ve always had an interest in it as a language for magickal and spiritual uses. Needless to say, that was heavily inspired by my reading of this book, as I reconnected with the Roman Gods. I give Pantheon: The Romans a 5/5 Pentagram rating, and recommend it every pagan, witch and occultist, as much of what those practices consist of are based in some way or form off of the Ancient Roman religion. Another well done book, Rachel!

Rachel S Roberts is the author of three books, including Pagan Portals: Lupa, and the proprietor of Wolf Woman Rising, where she empowers others to embrace their truest selves through animal totem work, deity work, as well as other holistic methods. She lives in her native Wales.

***

Author Bio:

The Modern Merlin is a Polytheist, Pagan, Animist, Witch, Sorcerer, Paranormal Investigator, Amateur Folklorist, Chaos Magician and Occultist.
