Magick, Lesson 1"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>A.\u00a0 Naming your home and giving it purpose.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I know some will find this silly but we are going to give our home a name.\u00a0 This is a very old practice,\u00a0 it makes your<\/p>\n<p>home more them just a place it becomes a entity all its own .\u00a0 King arthur named his castle and lands Camelot.\u00a0 Elvis<\/p>\n<p>names his Graceland.\u00a0\u00a0 We all live in towns and cities, that the founders took time to name and give purpose too.\u00a0 Later in<\/p>\n<p>this course you will write and perform a naming ceremony for your home.<\/p>\n<p>The reason our homes need purpose are the same as the reasons we need purpose.\u00a0 Each homes purpose will be different.\u00a0 Each homes purpose will change as you, yourself grow older.\u00a0 Your home will go through different phases and changes, as time<\/p>\n<p>goes on.\u00a0 A family will have different ideas of what a home should do, then a single man or women.\u00a0 Each home owner will<\/p>\n<p>have different needs.\u00a0 I perform a ritual every year, giving my home it\u2019s purposes for that year.\u00a0 You will learn more<\/p>\n<p>about that ritual later.<\/p>\n<p><em>*For those of you without a home all your own, name your space, like your bedroom.*<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>***Assignment***<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Question to answer when thinking of a name for your home.\u00a0 Keep your answers to one word.<br \/>\n(example:\u00a0 How should your home feel to others?\u00a0 Peaceful, relaxed, uplifting, and inspiring.)<\/p>\n<p>1.\u00a0 What does your home feel like at this time?<br \/>\n2.\u00a0 What do you want your home to feel like?<br \/>\n3.\u00a0 What purpose should your home serve?<br \/>\n4.\u00a0 Where is your home located?<br \/>\n5.\u00a0 How do you see your home?<br \/>\n6.\u00a0 What inspires you about your home?<br \/>\n7.\u00a0 Make a list of words, colors, or any other things you relate to home?<\/p>\n<p>Now take all the words you have written down and begin to look for your homes name, it\u2019s there some where.\u00a0 Be creative!<\/p>\n<p><strong>B.\u00a0 Deities<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There are thousands and thousands of deities around the world.\u00a0 By this time I am sure you know that in witchcraft we<\/p>\n<p>recognize different ones for different works we are doing.\u00a0 I would like for you to find a patron god or goddess for your<\/p>\n<p>home.\u00a0 By no means do you have to stick with the one you choose forever, but for the sake of this class I would like you to<\/p>\n<p>have one to refer to.\u00a0 In my home we use Hestia the Greek goddess of the hearth and home.\u00a0\u00a0 Take some time do a little<\/p>\n<p>research.<br \/>\n<strong><br \/>\n***Assignment***<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1.\u00a0 Make a list of 5, hearth and home deities.<br \/>\n2.\u00a0 Choose one deity for this a church at some point in your life.\u00a0 It\u2019s wonderful that some religions have place to go to<\/p>\n<p>worship and pray.\u00a0 Unfortunately, in witchcraft that isn\u2019t always the case.\u00a0 So we build altars in our homes, but did you<\/p>\n<p>know that this was a very old practice.\u00a0 In the past, people would build altars in there home because they could not travel<\/p>\n<p>to places of worship as easily as we do now.<\/p>\n<p>You can build an altar out of anything.\u00a0 I have seen altars on table tops, on dressers, on shelf\u2019s, and even some in a<\/p>\n<p>corner on the floor.\u00a0 Do what works for you in your space.\u00a0 I use an old table I found at a flea market as my working<\/p>\n<p>altar.\u00a0 I do not believe there is any right way or wrong way to construct an altar, there are books out there that say to<\/p>\n<p>do it this way or that way.\u00a0 I say do what feels right to you, it is after all your altar and your place to celebrate.\u00a0 We decorate are altars to worship and pray.\u00a0 I think we can use decorating to bring magick into each room<\/p>\n<p>of our homes.\u00a0 As we cover each room I will show how things like rugs and furniture can be used.\u00a0 I want to show how to<\/p>\n<p>decorate for magick on a budget.<\/p>\n<p><strong>***Assignment***<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1.\u00a0 Look at what you already have.\u00a0 List 5 things in your home that could be used for magickal decorating.<br \/>\n2.\u00a0 Go to your local Dollar Store or even Walmart.\u00a0 Some kind of shopping center.\u00a0 List 5 things you can buy there for<\/p>\n<p>under $20 that could be used for magickal decorating.<\/p>\n<p><em>p.s.\u00a0 Candles don\u2019t count!!!!\u00a0 Don\u2019t worry your don\u2019t have to buy
