{"id":4392,"date":"2010-11-01T01:10:54","date_gmt":"2010-11-01T06:10:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/paganpages.org\/content\/?p=4446"},"modified":"2010-10-25T12:04:34","modified_gmt":"2010-10-25T17:04:34","slug":"interweavings-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/paganpages.org\/emagazine\/2010\/11\/01\/interweavings-2\/","title":{"rendered":"InterWeavings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>An Intent of Thanksgiving<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Is it just me or do other women dread family gatherings for the holidays?\u00a0 It is not that we do not love our extended family, it is just that we are not all on the same page concerning life.\u00a0 You know, life\u2019s big questions like handling money, raising kids and picking spouses.\u00a0 Oh, and there can also be the really hushed page concerning religion, beliefs, and spirituality.\u00a0 Bring everyone under one roof and we are ready to throw our hands up and surrender.<\/p>\n<p>I have noticed that with few exceptions most people I know have an eclectic collection of characters within their family.\u00a0 How we approach a gathering can be the key to sanity.<\/p>\n<p>Intentions.\u00a0 Remember that word?\u00a0 I know, it is hard to practice what we preach sometimes.\u00a0 Never the less, our intentions for any day, sabot or Thursday, is important and powerful.<\/p>\n<p>For November in the States, the gathering of family is imperative.\u00a0 It is Thanksgiving. And we are going to be thankful, by golly, whether we want to or not!\u00a0 That is how it feels after four days of cooking and cleaning and juggling money in order to feed that band of people who are always happy to show up and eat but not clean, cook or finance the event.\u00a0 Is it really just me?<\/p>\n<p>Here is how I plan to weave the intention of the month with the unique strands of family and friends.\u00a0 I am giving a Gratitude Tea.\u00a0 A time set aside from the family meal to visit and relax with people I am grateful for being in my life.\u00a0 A friend, a neighbor, my daughters.\u00a0 A time to enjoy each other and express what Thanksgiving is all about \u2013 gratitude.\u00a0 As a sign read at a national coffee chain, \u201cTake comfort in rituals.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The ritual of tea is an old one and full of grace.\u00a0 A pot of tea, a nibble or two and another person to share a moment of quiet.\u00a0 For my tea, I will place my intention on gratitude.\u00a0 There will be a bowl with strips of paper and a pen for writing one or two words of\u00a0\u00a0 blessings.\u00a0 A journal will be at each place setting for listing five things at the end of the day for which we are grateful. For libations, Earl Grey tea is known as the tea of gratitude so it will be offered along with a pomegranate herbal blend.\u00a0 Candles in votive holders and Celtic music will add peacefulness.\u00a0 Light finger food with a sweet or two will fill the tablescape.<\/p>\n<p>My family\u2019s intent is for me is to be happy each and everyday.\u00a0 (If mamma ain\u2019t happy, ain\u2019t nobody happy.)\u00a0 My intent is to be grateful each and everyday.
