{"id":7287,"date":"2012-12-01T01:01:56","date_gmt":"2012-12-01T06:01:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/paganpages.org\/content\/?p=7529"},"modified":"2012-11-23T22:45:41","modified_gmt":"2012-11-24T03:45:41","slug":"paranomal-path","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/paganpages.org\/emagazine\/2012\/12\/01\/paranomal-path\/","title":{"rendered":"Paranomal Path"},"content":{"rendered":"<div align=\"center\"><strong>A Haunted Man<\/strong><\/div>\n<div align=\"center\"><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/div>\n<div>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Without a doubt politics is a passionate subject, and where there is passion there is always a chance for ghosts.\u00a0 One of the most famous political spirits is that of our 16<sup>th<\/sup> president Abraham Lincoln.\u00a0 Lincoln was known for his great leadership during the Civil War though the anxiety from which he suffered at the time may have carried on even after his passing.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Mr. Lincoln was known to have an interest in the supernatural; he even had prophetic dreams and visions including one of his own assassination.\u00a0 His wife Mary Todd also supported his beliefs, especially after the death of their son Willie in 1862.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Willie Lincoln passed at only 12 years of age from Typhoid fever. \u00a0This took a great toll on the president; he often spoke of the boy\u2019s spirit still being with him.\u00a0 Mary could not enter the guest room where the boy died and she began to contact mediums to conduct s\u00e9ances in order to communicate with their son.\u00a0 It was rumored that Mr. Lincoln began to consult with these spiritualists in hopes of gaining insight to future events in the war.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 On April 14<sup>th<\/sup> 1865 the President called a meeting of his cabinet. He told them before long they would have important news, though he did not give details of what the news could be.\u00a0 A few nights prior to this meeting he had another prophetic dream.\u00a0 He said there was \u201ca death like\u201d stillness about him, he could hear sobbing and grieving though he couldn\u2019t find another person.\u00a0 Finally he arrived to the east room where he saw a corpse surrounded by soldiers.\u00a0 He asked one of the guards who had died. \u201cThe President,\u201d He responded.\u00a0 \u201cHe was killed by an assassin.\u201d\u00a0 Lincoln then heard more sobbing that woke him from this dream.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 That night he spoke to one of his security guards about the dreams.\u00a0 The guard knew Mr. Lincoln was going out to the theatre that night and begged him not to go, but the president insisted saying he needed a night away.\u00a0 The guard recalls Mr. Lincoln would always bid him a good night when leaving the office for the evening, but on this night he said \u201cGood Bye\u201d.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Soon the news would spread.\u00a0 The President had been shot.\u00a0 While attending the play at Ford\u2019s Theatre, John Wilkes Booth snuck through the unguarded door of the box Mr. and Mrs. Lincoln were seated in and put his gun to the back of the President\u2019s head.\u00a0 He then fled the scene.\u00a0 Mr. Lincoln died shortly after. His body was displayed in the East room of the White house just as he had dreamed, then it was brought to its final resting place in Springfield Illinois.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Ford\u2019s Theatre is now believed to hold the residual haunting of this tragic night.\u00a0 Footsteps can be heard rushing to the box where the couple sat, along with the sound of a gunshot and screams.\u00a0 Some even attest to seeing the figure of Mary Todd leaning over the railing and pointing to the stage where Booth attempted to escape.<\/div>\n<p>President Lincoln never really seemed to leave his beloved White House. Always the gentleman, Mr. Lincoln\u2019s ghost was known to politely knock on the bedroom door.
