The Equinox, was originally a magikakl journal published by Aleister Crowley from 1909 -1919. Aleister Crowley is well known for his work with Enochian magick, a distillation of the work of the famous Elizabethan magi John Dee. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

This book contains an excellent introduction to the subject by Lon Milo Duquette. As a general rule I usually skip over the introduction of a book and dive directly into bulk of the manuscript. In this case I and the introduction an informative guide to the rest of the text.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

While most people are familiar with the work of Aleister Crowley, not as many are aware that Crowley refined the work of John Dee. In the introduction a brief biography of the life and work of John Dee is given. It was John Dee, a scientist who saw magic as a science. In those less enlightened times John Dee’s work was deemed the work of the black magick and condemned. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

After the introduction are two works of Aleister Crowley, Liber LXXXIV Vel Chanokh and Liber XXX, The Vision and the Voice. Both deal with Enochian magic, the magical system for working with angels and archangels. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

While this book is not an easy read, it is an excellent source of information on Enochian magic. It contains numerous graphs and tables with symbols for the working on Enochian magick. For example some of the information contained in this book is the Forty-eight Calls or Keys as well as other rituals used by John Dee and Aleister Crowley.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I am not a practitioner of Enochian magick although I am interested in learning about other systems of magick. It is impressive that this information first obtained by the great John Dee has survived to the present day.
