Book of Seasons for July!<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Strawberries and Sailboats!\u00a0 Summer is at its height in the northern hemisphere.\u00a0 Here in the \u201cdeep south\u201d everything slows down to a crawl.\u00a0 It is hot.\u00a0 And it is humid.\u00a0 And it is time to just be in the moment.\u00a0 Gardens are lush and the sounds of nature are constant.\u00a0 How I love listening to the birds as the sun rises and then the chattering of cicadas and tree frogs as they join the song.\u00a0 I try to keep the windows open as long as possible in order to hear the hawk and the blue jay just a smidge longer.<\/p>\n

Our affirmation for July<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

I bask in the sunlight and join the song of Gaia!<\/p>\n

Sailboats and summer go hand in hand.<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I adore wee little sailboats floating down the river lazily bobbing in the current.\u00a0 I envision dear fairies eating wild strawberries and chatting with dragonflies as they drift on the water.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

With walnut shells, a toothpick and some paper, a tiny sailboat can be fashioned.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

First, carefully crack the walnut and remove the meat.\u00a0 Voila! A boat!\u00a0 Cut a sail from paper and wrap around a toothpick.\u00a0 Tack it together with glue stick or staple.\u00a0 Next anchor the toothpick in the walnut shell.\u00a0 I drip wax from a birthday candle to hold it in place.\u00a0 Now float on water!\u00a0 No river or creek?\u00a0 Then a bowl of water on the table is perfect.\u00a0 How about a regatta of boats with different colored sails among floating candles?\u00a0 Lovely outside at night as the fireflies are waking.<\/p>\n

Let them eat cake!<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

What a perfect setting for strawberries to be eaten!\u00a0\u00a0 My favorite way of serving strawberries is to cut them and heap them on pound cake.\u00a0 Top with whipped cream.\u00a0 Simple but tasty!\u00a0 Frozen, they are fun to drop into wine, champagne or ginger ale.<\/p>\n

As we bask in the sun and drink in the beauty of the night let us feel the connection to Gaia and each other.\u00a0 Each of us is a blessing to each other as well as to Earth herself.<\/p>\n
