Name-&-form cause the-6-sense-sources to arise.<\/p>\n

The-6-sense-sources cause contact to arise.<\/p>\n

Contact causes feeling to arise.<\/p>\n

Feeling causes craving to arise.<\/p>\n

Craving causes clinging to arise.<\/p>\n

Clinging causes becoming to arise.<\/p>\n

Becoming causes birth to arise.<\/p>\n

Birth causes ageing, decay, & death to arise.<\/p>\n

Ageing, decay, & death cause suffering to arise.<\/p>\n

So is the emergence of this entire mass of pain..!!<\/p>\n

There is becoming, birth, presence, decay, & ceasing of the moments of time.<\/p>\n

There is becoming, birth, presence, decay, & ceasing of the lives of the being.<\/p>\n

There is becoming, birth, presence, decay, & ceasing of the galaxies of the universe.<\/p>\n

This sweeping yet exhaustive description of causality applies to all these three<\/p>\n

extreme time-scales and all those in between. Verily of Universal Generality is this<\/p>\n

Dependent Co-Arising (Paticca Samuppada)!<\/p>\n

The Buddha has said:<\/p>\n

Profound, Ananda, is this dependent origination, and profound does it appear.<\/p>\n

It is through not understanding, not penetrating, this subtle law that this world resembles<\/p>\n

a tangled ball of thread, a bird’s nest, a thicket of grass or reed. Any person who does not<\/p>\n

understand this, does neither escape from the lower states of existence, nor from the course<\/p>\n

of pain, misery & suffering, nor from this ever-returning round of rebirth.<\/p>\n

Digha Nikaya 15<\/em><\/p>\n

Whoever understands Dependent Origination understands the Dhamma.<\/p>\n

Whoever understands the Dhamma understands Dependent Origination.<\/p>\n
