The Hunter Diaries is different from the other books I have reviewed as this one was fiction. I found this to be a very enjoyable book and one I had a hard time putting down from the time I started reading it. This book is a collection of four stories that are inner connected through some of the characters.

The first story, “The Christmas Present” introduces the reader to a world populated in part by vampires and those who hunt them. The hunters in this case are the Willis family and Detective Stephanie Willis. Where her family hunts vampires she is drawn into this case when one leaves a present in the form of a murdered man in an art gallery. It seems to be a straight forward tale of hunt the vampire and get rid of it. But the story has the added twist of a vampire who is the man who haunts Stephanie’s dreams.

The second story “Bite Me”concerns Chloe Willis the wife of one of the Willis family sons and another vampire hunter. She is rescued after a vampire fight that cost her the life of her husband by one she assumes in an angel. This battle has caused certain inherited powers to awaken that pose a particular threat to vampires. This results in the Vampire High Counsel sending an enforcer to deal with the problem, only the enforcer is one who has fallen for Chloe.

The third story “Belief” the story switches from a focus on the Willis family to two owners of a New Age shop introduced in the second story. This time the action switches to Rumania and a skeptic who learns the truth about vampires and finds love at the same time.

In the final story, “Insidious Whispers” the story line continues with the two owners of the Broom Closet, this time with Beth Stark, who along with running a New Age store is a guardian of a book of arcane knowledge. This book is deemed to be too dangerous to be held by humans by the High Vampire Council. They send Phoenix an Enforcer to recover the book before the Black Queen of the Fae can use it for her own purpose.

I found this book to be a very enjoyable and an entertaining read. It was a nice bonus to find the author has several other volumes available. This book is a nice blend of adventure and love story. After reading it I look forward to obtaining other books by this author to add to my library.
