Seasons of the Witch: Yule Journal is a great exercise in witchy mindfulness-especially for those like myself who aren’t big fans of Winter and Yule/Christmas. This journal has an appeal to it, partially because of the artwork, which is beautiful, but also because it contains the greatest wisdom of all within it: yours. Whether animal medicines, such as Bear, Cardinal and Deer, are prompts to look within during the dark months, or encouraging things like decorating to be witchy rituals, this journal is sure to make your Yuletide magickal! With reflective prompts, inspiring suggestions to infuse your own personal magic into the holidays, and even artwork that inspires one to be witchy during the Yuletide season, this journal is sure to please. The added beauty of this journal is that once you’ve completed it, it becomes a magical grimoire of sorts, filled with your own personal Yule magic, stories, lore and ideas.

I chose to review this journal because the winter, and Yule/Christmas is my least favorite time of year, and this year, having suffered some significant losses, is likely to be harder than normal. After looking through this journal and the prompts within, I felt a comforting peace, knowing that when the time is right, I will put pen to paper and allow my own inner wisdom to shine bright in the darkest of nights in each one of these prompts. The illustrations and overall design of the journal are eye appealing, without overdoing it. The imagery invokes a mystical, slightly ethereal, yet warm and cozy, winter vibe. Perfect for the witch in your life (or yourself)! I’m dropping a few photos to illustrate (no pun intended) the beauty and allure of this enchanting journal, but I really suggest you get one for yourself if you’re interested. It becomes its own Yuletide grimoire over time, filled with your own magic.

I don’t have any critiques of this journal-it’s meant to guide each of us on a journey towards healing and growth during the otherwise stagnant winter months. This journal is perfect for the days leading up to Yule, and even after! I’m glad I chose this journal to review, and I can’t wait to keep working on it. As Autumn gives way to Winter, I find myself looking through this journal more and adding my magic to it. I really can’t say much more about this wonderful journal without giving away too much, so I’ll end here with a rating. I give Seasons of the Witch: Yule Journal a 5/5 Pentagram rating! Pick one up for yourself or the witchy person in your life-it’ll make a great holiday gift!

Author Bio:

The Modern Merlin is a Polytheist, Pagan, Animist, Witch, Sorcerer, Paranormal Investigator, Amateur Folklorist, Chaos Magician and Occultist. He embarked on his spiritual and magickal journey over 15 years ago. As such, he has extensive knowledge of The Occult, Ceremonial Magick, Chaos Magick, Witchcraft, Sorcery, and both modern and ancient world religions and folklore. He is a practicing Sorcerer, blending ceremonial high magick, chaos magick and witchcraft, as well as plant medicine, poisonous plants and entheogens, shamanic techniques, and mysticism. He believes that magick can be as simple or as complex as one needs it to be, and rejects dogma, instead trusting his intuition, and encourages other magickal and spiritual folks to do the same! He venerates and casts magick with a wide array of spirits and deities, and works with both the Left and Right Hand Paths, having experience in both. He has also studied eastern philosophies such as Taoism, Zen Buddhism, and Hinduism. He is an Astrologer and Tarot reader and actively studies and practices many other forms of divination including Runes, Ogham, Palmistry and Scrying. An animal lover, he sees divinity in nature-the trees, plants, animals and sky. Also an avid reader, you’re hard pressed to not find him nose deep in a book, most likely on an occult, mystical, religious or magickal subject. He is the Co-Editor of PaganPages.Org and the author of multiple columns for PaganPages.Org. He gives readings and other spiritual services through his Facebook Page, The Modern Merlin, as well other free informational posts for everyone to see!
