Weyland’s Whey, November 2025 New Moon Column
New Moon
Be advised, Pilgrims: the next new moon will be on Thursday November 20th (that’s tomorrow for the befuddled. Like myself). Its Moon Sign will be in Scorpio. It will signify a time of intentional transformation and emotional renewal. A time of manifestation, ideal for setting intentions and beginning new projects. I’d ask for a raise, but then my boss might set some new intentions for me!

Light and Lighting, Part Two
Light therapy, also called phototherapy or bright light therapy, is the exposure to direct sunlight or artificial light at controlled wavelengths in order to treat a variety of medical disorders, including seasonal affective disorder (SAD), circadian rhythm sleep-wake disorders…
It’s not just “mood lighting”. Light really effects your mood. Take control of your lighting and you take control of your moods as it fits your schedule!
I’m not saying to spend lots of money on a “smart home” where every light bulb is remote-controlled for brightness and color, just be aware that today’s LED lighting is available in several colors. Interior decorators advocate learning what colors are “in stock” and don’t cost extra.
A friend’s home is all 3,000-degree kelvin lighting to give a warm glow. See what works best for your home considering the fabrics, walls and furniture. It’s fun exploring how to make everything more radiant, pleasurable and dramatic.
Be aware that bulb wattage no longer correlates to brightness. “Lumens” is the measure of the total light output. If a bulb is too bright, see if it’s dimmable (many are NOT) or choose a bulb with lower lumen output. Sorry, it’s kinda like learning the metric system. There are new terms for everything. 😮
You have a choice for lighting. Choose happy (and fight SAD)!
(Note: to avoid eye damage, do not stare directly into any light source, natural or artificial. Even with sunglasses on. And avoid staring at reflections of bright lights on any surfaces as well.)
One More Thing
Weyland likes podcasts! His current fave witchy ones are DruidCast, Rune Soup, and Pagan Coffee Talk.
