Starting on the Vodou Path
As with many Afro-Carribean spiritual traditions, Vodou emphasizes ancestor service. Biological, spiritual, and other ancestors are served within the Vodou tradition. Our ancestors guide us, warn us, and assist us in furthering our personal spiritual development. Your ancestors may include deceased birth parents, relatives, adopted parents (if you were an adopted child), close friends, and those of your spiritual lineage. You can even honor the first ancestor and all your ancestors all the way back to the beginning of time. Ancestors are naturally a part of you and are easiest to serve. You should research your family tree. Look through your lineage and learn about yourself. Know yourself, as knowing…

Pagans In The Army: My Experience
Like most military pagan, I was a little apprehensive about stepping out of the broom closet for fear of the possible repercussions that might occur. Though, my experience has shown me, coming out was the best decision I have made in my short military career. Everyone in my platoon found out that I was a pagan believer in the fall of 2005 at a training area in Germany called Hohenfels. I was laying on my cot reading a book on Wiccan beliefs and practices when someone asked me if I believed in what I was reading. In a panic, I closed the book and got off my cot and headed…

X-Witch
Goddess Christian When I told my Pacific Northwest friends I was moving back to Georgia to help my mother tend to ill family members the first thing they asked was, “Are you coming out about being a witch?” This was followed by, “Is there really such a thing as Southern Baptist Witches?” To the latter question, I really have no answer as I am no longer the Southern Baptist Christian I was raised to be. To the former question my answer was an unequivocal “Yes.” Most of my Northwest friends are Pagan, Wiccan, or some other form of “Other.” And what has always surprised them is the fact that I…

A Sweep of Majick
Bright Blessings to you all, I am Broom and let me start by introducing myself to you. I live in the USA in the State of Minnesota.I was born and raised in the state of Texas so some times I just feel out of whack do to seasons change here a lot later than down in the southern states of the USA. I have been a Kitchen Witch now for 16 years and just recently discovered I tend to pull to the Hedge Witch by defination. I seem to have a very weird (laughs out loud) sense of humor as I see the world around me. I use the Wiccan…

Stone Writings
When I visited the great and ancient stone circle of Stonehenge, I was in awe of the massive stones that have stood for at least 5000 years. To think that it was built with only stones and animal bones as tools. The image above is a painting by Belenus of the bluestones and Sarsen stones of Stonehenge from photographs he has taken. Forming Stonehenge The standing stones of Stonehenge are remarkable to visit as I was fortunate to do a few years ago. The circle of stones sits in a huge plain known as Salisbury Plain. When I walked along the plain, it was hard to imagine that it was…

Sexual Magick
One doesn’t have to be a witch to practice sexual magick. All that it requires is a setting, or mood; intent (prayer) and energy-raising (the act itself). Anyone can do it. It happened to a friend of mine. From the 1990s onward, he and his wife became estranged from one another due to a major rift that has become irreparable. During the 90s, he left home but returned soon afterward to try to resolve the marriage. During that time, he told me, he and his wife were intimate only a handful of times. One of those times, he prayed for a child. When the wife stopped having periods, she assumed…

Political Magick?
For the past winter I have sat in dispair over the political antics of our current administration wondering what can I personally do to change all this. Like the little dutch boy plugging holes in a damn more holes appear every day and we run out of fingers and toes and tongues to plug all the new holes opening and blasting our constitution, our voting rights, our environment. Peak oil and global warming with threats of food shortages on top of a pole shift makes for nightmares for the average person. Yet there isn’t much the average person can do. We work too many hours, have too many bills and…

Mystic Thoughts
I am a horrible procrastinator, with a horrible memory! But, I still try, still forge ahead, with everything that I do.. I’d like to share with you all some places I have had the joy to eat out at. *Lone Star Antiques Tea Room. They’ve recently moved their location from the Rufe Snow/NE Loop820 area, to just north of NE Loop 820 on Denton Hwy.(where the Sutherlands used to be). I, myself, LOVE antique rooms, and the little tearooms nestled inside most of them. Their sandwiches may seem a little on the pricey side, but its well worth the trip! They’ve got this excellent fruit dip that is a tangy,…

Morgan’s Wardrobe
Blessed Ostara from Morgan’s Wardrobe! At long last it seems Winter is slowly but surely loosening its icy grip up here in the land of the North Star. As Wiccans, we honor the Earth and part of that is being attuned to the changes of the seasons as she wakes from her long Winter nap. This month I would like to share ways I tune into Mother Gaia and what Spring looks like through the eyes of this witch. One of the ways I tune into Mother Gaia is by watching her as well as her four-legged and winged creatures. While there are fewer visits from Winter friends at the…
