    Everyday is Sacred

Throughout history, people of nature religions found something sacred everywhere they looked. There was no clear-cut boundary between what was religious and what was not, what was magical and what was not. Examples of this can be found all over Europe, where people had Goddesses and Gods for virtually every part of daily life. From ovens and doorways, to bridges and wells — everything was sacred! Latin, and the languages which descend from it, were shaped by Pagan cultures. Language assigned gender to every person place and thing, perhaps reflecting the idea that all things link back to a specific Goddess or God. Every person place and thing truly is…

    He Said, She Said

He Said, She Said Wiccar Man Weyland sits down at the computer, slurping from a big green mug of coffee. He logs in and sees FireCat on his Buddy List. Wey: Hi, Whitey! 🙂 FireCat: Hi yourself. Wey: Well, I’m finally gonna do it. FireCat: You got a real job? Wey: No. Well, yeah, kinda. I’m going to get ordained. FireCat: Thought you already did that last year. Wey: Wasn’t ready then. FireCat: What changed? Wey: Me. I’m a kinder, gentler poobah now. FireCat: Really. Wey: Yeah. FireCat: Since when? Wey: Today. FireCat: Uh huh. Wey: I mean it. FireCat: I know. Wey: I can be serene if I put…

    Meditation Technique for Soul Development

Introduction to Mark Kincaid I first became aware of ‘meditation’ when I was a young Episcopalian boy in the mid-1950’s. I had my first very informal experiences, now I realize when I sat in those old hard pews in Church and experiencing the awe and majesty of church devotions. A number of years later I went on Church retreats they were called back then and quiet time and reflection was a regular part of our weekends. However it wasn’t until I went away to college in 1969 that I first became aware of more formal meditations. My first meditation technique was a Yoga practice of AnandaMarga yoga. It was a…

    Meditation Technique for Soul Development

The topic of Meditation to me, is one of the most absolutely exciting topics in the Consciousness or new age field. Having learned to meditate, myself, when I was 19 years old, in the hey days of 1970, I can say with some experience, “Wow”! I’ve recently been invited to create a column on meditation which I am very excited to do. Introduction There are a few misunderstandings as to exactly what meditation is so I’ll begin with a brief introduction. Meditation, the ancient art and science of “Purposeful Thinking”, is one of the most significant things that one can do in life. Meditation can be informal, it can be…

    Morgan’s Wardrobe

Summer is Finally Here! So the warm weather has finally arrived. Most Pagans’ I know love to plant and grow things outside and this is the case here at the Wardrobe as well. This month I would like to touch on the energies that plants can bring to your home. As a rule, I like to consult a reference source to tell me what kind of energies plants are going to bring into my home before I bring them home. This way there are no surprises. My favorite reference book for this is “Cunningham’s Encyclopedia of Magickal Herbs” written by Scott Cunningham. Don’t let the word herbs in the title…

    Pagan Theology: Death

Oh, we’re already on the second column and now we’re talking about death.  Or Death.  Or DEATH.  Well, it’s a topic that comes up more in the movies than it does in regular conversation with those whose deaths we really, really care about.  Like those closest to us, or, Gods help us, US.  In this column I will try and ask a few questions that aren’t often (at least from what I can tell) in Pagan literature.   While the answers ultimately have to come from a personal understanding of the Gods and Goddesses, and our faith, I believe it is useful to discuss principles that could underlie a common understanding…

Pagan Theology : Proof- The Problem of the Existence of the Gods and Goddesses

Pagan Theology : Proof-  The Problem of the Existence of the Gods and Goddesses Well I started with death just so we could get it over with.  So to speak.  And also because I’m fairly disorganized, so now we get to start from the beginning.  No, I don’t mean Genesis, rather I mean:  how do we know the Gods and Goddesses [1] exist? As with many things, there is a short answer, and a long answer.  Short answer There are no rational proofs of the existence of one, much less many, Gods, Goddesses, or god.  Can’t be done, better minds than ours have tried [2] , so best let it…

    Provoking Thoughts

Provoking Thoughts Over the past several weeks there has been information and news floating around regarding the fallen soldier who died in the war and his family fighting diligently to get a pentacle on his headstone. For those who are not aware, the United States military has about 38 approved religious symbols that can be put on the headstones of soldiers. Amazingly there is no religious symbol that represents the Wiccan faith that is approved for the headstones of soldiers. There are cries all across the American states that are pleading with fellow pagans to step up and be heard on this issue. Men and Women are dying fighting for…

    Witch Tips

Quick & easy hints to get you through your busy day. Staying Alive Out of the Broom Closet Part Two: At Home I’m not sure about Pagans per se, but there aren’t many second generation Wiccans around right now. Most of our parents or guardians were of different religious persuasions than we are–and that means most of us didn’t start off as Pagans, either. We converted somewhere along the way. Which brings up the question–what do we tell the family? I think it basically depends upon what kind of relationship you have with them. No, no, I don’t mean the quality of your relationships–those are either good or bad, and…
