The Solstice

The sun moves into Cancer, and the moon into Taurus. The next 4 weeks will be a great time to invest in both yourself and your loved ones. (If you can think of a bad time for either, you’ve got me beat, Pilgrim!) I haven’t specified a date here because in my research I got June 20th and June 21st. (Sheesh!) Prudence pays!

Happy Juneteenth!

Juneteenth will be celebrated in New Jersey on Friday, due to an amendment of the original legislative draft establishing it as a state holiday, which switched the observance to the 3rd Friday in June.

No mail was delivered to our cul-de-sac today, so I guess New Jersey is double dipping.  Cool!  Happy Juneteenth!

Yet Another Disappearing Act

Remember our last two columns, in which I bemoaned insect population decline? Turns out Antarctic Emperor Penguins aren’t doing too well either. Over a 20 percent decline, higher than originally estimated, in some parts of the Antarctic.

On the hopeful side, some quarters say that the insect population decrease may have been overestimated.  We can only hope…but further study is needed!
