Weyland’s Whey Imbolc & Snow Moon Column February 2026

My current research says Imbolc is to be held on February first this year. I swear to the Goddess I was taught it was always on February second. I’d ask my pal Mihos–he was in the same class–but he ain’t handy. Since I’m the suspicious type, we’ll go with February second. (Don’t agree, Pilgrim? Go write your own column.) Moving on, the Imbolc Sabbat is at the midpoint between Winter Solstice and Spring Equinox and heralds the very first breath of oncoming Springtime. It can be a one-day event or a multiple day celebration, depending upon authority cited. It happens when the Sun transits Aquarius–which is associated with change, humanitarianism and energy. Imbolc is a great time for dreaming, planning and making long-term goals.

The Full Moon on February first, 2026 is known as the Snow Moon, to acknowledge the month’s often heavy snowfalls. (Although this year, February has nothing on January here in the States!) It’s also a Supermoon, one of a row of them. Each Supermoon is associated with a particular zodiac sign, and these energies can influence personal and collective actions and behaviors. The aforementioned frequency of these Supermoons can magnify these astrological effects and make this a great time for personal growth and manifestation. This period can take us to new beginnings and a release of energies which no longer help us.

The Wrap Up: Looks to yours truly that, while the interpretation of specifics may vary–like precisely when and for how long Imbolc energies are activated and maybe even how many Supermoons we’ve had in a row lately–for the most part we can agree that this is a period of huge energy and big changes. (Just check the papers!) For better or worse, this marriage of growth and manifestation–both good and bad–is going to rock our world for a while. It will revise what we do and affect who we are. But although changed, we’ve got to keep our best qualities alive. Transcend brutality, don’t let it infect you. Embrace kindness wherever you find it. You only have to recognize it. Sometimes the origins of both will surprise you. Choose wisely, Pilgrims.
