Mother Nature preening, Doing her spring cleaning
by washing with pounding rains, scrubbing the earth; preparing the plains.
Snow melts and the colors bloom underneath the silvery moon.
Lifting of the winter gloom, as the birds sing a cheerful tune.
She bustles in on windy feet, and sweeps my yard and down my street.
Goddess walks through the new green grass, winters over….Spring is here at last.

Spring cleaning… everyone is talking about getting ready for it… but what are we planning on cleaning?? Our homes, garages, altars, selves, spirits? Well we should be thinking of all of them… but we rarely think of spring cleaning our spirits… our selves… we gather much negativity and spiritual ”dirt” over the year as our homes do.. And much of it during the winter months while we spend much less time outside. Also when we clean our home we often forget the spiritual side of cleaning… that when you sweep you can also sweep away the negativity, anger, and old issues… right out the door with your physical dirt.
You can cleanse your aura as you cleanse your windows. I know that it sounds silly but it really is as easy as that. Washing clean your soul and spirit while you mops the floors or sweep your chimneys.
When you make your checklists for your home spring cleaning… make your checklist for your spiritual spring cleaning as well… While taking a look at your home you will see it may have some grungy bits and is cluttered. There is a chance that your physical vitality is lower than it could be and you feel like Life is just one big struggle. Your Aura (energy field) will also be less than radiant. If you give everything a good spring clean and have a clearing out, you will release lots of negative nasty energy & start to brighten your aura too. You can expect to feel more creative & alert, and have more zest for life.
Clean with a positive intention: If you hating cleaning than every minute the resentment you hold will permeate the atmosphere in the house. Focus on how positive your home and body will feel when it is all done & you will imbue the house with your positive vibes.
When the time has come, take yourself into a quiet place and remove all distractions. Turn off the TV, phones, etc. If you need music to help you relax, try to find something soothing and without words to distract you, such as Gregorian chant, Medwyn Goodall, Pachelbell’s Canon in D or Mozart will work. Get yourself into the right mindset for cleaning… Maybe take a few moments to meditate and get the “feel” for what you are doing.
You need to clean right into the corners: Stagnant energy- like dust settles more in the corners of your house. By getting the corners clean you begin to move the energy too. Start by sweeping …to remove and banish the energy sweep all in one direction the right out of the door. Sweep each room into the hall then sweep outwards towards the exterior door…If you really want to be thorough and get the best results Clear your home, so that your home is not just physically clean but is energetically clear too.
Purify the atmosphere and lift the vibration by burning solid incense- traditionally used in all major religions for its cleansing properties. Incense such as frankincense or Sage can improve the energy in your home. Check that your incense is made of natural ingredients.
Also try to use Eco friendly cleaning products: Buy a reputable brand or even make your own basic cleaning product from household ingredients.
Try this recipe:
white vinegar
water
Pour equal parts white vinegar and water into a spray bottle. Spray it on the surface. If there are stubborn marks allow it to stand for about 15 minutes. Wipe off.
You can also at this time choose to banish and clean the negative in your life.
write:
“God/dess, I hereby place the following in your hands:”
Make a list of all the stuff you just want to remove from your life. It can be general or specific such as:
-
§ removing anger
-
§ remove financial issues
-
§ clear my marriage troubles
-
§ Bad health
-
§ My aunt Edna
-
§ The leaky roof
-
§ Trouble finding my purpose
No matter what it is, write it down on that list.
Once you’ve completed the list, write:
“God/dess, Thank you for taking these things out of my hands and into yours. I now release them to you.”
Then burn it in a dish… or bury it, or any other symbolic release to the God/dess.
I also recommend Random acts of kindness… I saw a TV commercial for something or another… sadly I do not remember the product… but I do remember the commercial… It started with a young man picking up a babies toy off the ground and handing back up to the child, it was followed by a sequence of events that happen as a direct result of each act before it. Such things really do happen and have amazing results. Such as the recent “pay it forward” that happened in my neck of the woods…. Some gentleman decided to PAY AHEAD for the guy in the car behind him for a cup of coffee … that man then paid ahead for the car behind him… from the news reports it happened like this for a few hours.
Now how good does it make you feel when you do something for someone with no reward other than that you have done a good thing. Now what do you think happens from that??? Maybe the person you helped will help another… then that chain reaction could explode into something wonderful in reaction, RAK …when what you do impacts others in a positive way; Planting the seeds for positive energy to continue to flow around you.
I will end this here… look for some cleaning recipes in my recipes article. And if you wish to see something here that is related to the Home, Hearth or food please e-mail me@ [email protected]
