Meditation Moment
Embracing Vacation Energy
It’s June! Summer vacation! Swimming! Barbecues! Lazy days of lounging in our pajamas playing video games from noon to midnight!
At least, that’s what this month means for most people under the age of 18.
At least we get to look forward to the Summer Solstice, the Radiant God and the magick of the faeries. This month’s meditation is about bringing the spirit of summer vacation into our lives, with the assistance of the faeries, dragons, unicorns, and other fantastical beings we were obsessed with as kids – and many of us still as adults!
Remember to record this meditation or have someone read it to you if you can, and if you like. Be comfortable, be safe from distractions, and be good to yourself.
If you can do this meditation out in the sunlight, do it!
Close your eyes. Take a deep breath, breathing in peace, breathing out tension.
Keep breathing in peace, breathing out tension. In with peace, out with tension.
You are alone outside, comfortable, the sun warming your skin while a summer breeze, fragrant with the scent of flowers and cut grass, keeps you from overheating.
You are seven years old. School has been out for a week now. The entire summer is spread out before you, full of possibilities, fun, free from obligations and the tyranny of school. You are free to be yourself. Your time is yours. Your energy is yours to save or spend as you please. You are safe. You are smart. You are full of life.
You are also full of magick. You dance with faeries. You climb with dragons, make messes with imps, sing with angels, and interact with many other spirit beings that only you and your most special friends can see.
Your faery friends are calling to you now, leading you down a familiar path, through dappled shade, near sparkling water. Play with them. Create with them. Dance. Sing. Explore. Allow your magickal friends to empower you, to protect you, to fill you with the Spirit of Summer as the sun travels the sky and begins to sink into vibrantly colored clouds in the west.
The moon is out, and the first stars are twinkling as your childhood friends lead you back to the present. They grow with you, and you see them now as spirit guides and guardians, protectors and messengers who love you and lovingly play pranks on you when you need a good laugh.
Before you return to your grown up world, they present you with a special gift, something small that you can keep with you, something charged with the magick of childhood, of summer, and of creation.
Thank them, breathing in love, and breathing out stress. With your eyes closed, keep breathing in love and breathing out stress. In with love, out with stress.
When you are ready, open your eyes.
Welcome home!
How are you going to celebrate your summer?
