Musings From the Mossy Trail
The Wonder of Fae In July the earth is lush and green, the air thick with possibilities. Gardens are in full bloom, the sun glistens off lakes and rivers, and in that special place where poetry meets the soul, we find those enchanting creatures who capture our hearts and imagination, the fae. Through myth, stories and folklore, which has been passed down over hundreds of years, we learn that there are many species of fae. They may appear in human or animal form, or a mix thereof, as streams of light, cascades of glimmer, or in any other form they wish to present themselves. William Butler Yeats, in…

Myths and Legends: Journeys Through Time
“What’s in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name wold smell as sweet;”– Juliet to Romeo in William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet Act II Scene II The quote above is slightly out of place. It pertains to the fact that Romeo and Juliet are from opposing families. Romeo believes that their lives would be easier if he had a different name. Juliet is pointing out that she loves Romeo for simply being Romeo…not because of his family name or who his family is. In a way much of the same can be applied to Greek figurine Cassandra. All versions of the myth paint her as…

Hally’s Hints
The Spiritual & Spiritualism in Simple Spiritualism and the spiritual have a multitude of meanings to numerous people often determined by their own personal beliefs. This however, doesn’t make it fact but it does provide interesting perspectives to the mix. Be it the time of year, solstice, planetary alignment or all of the this and then some, many are coming to the forefront with their opinions and discounting that opinion does not mean fact. With some of us that have been privy to information not readily available on the internet, wikipedia or even google for that fact means that not everyone has access to some truths that…

Paranormal Path
Annabelle One of my all time favorite “ghost” stories is about a Raggedy Ann doll named Annabelle. The story begins in 1970; a mother purchased the child size doll at a hobby store as a present for her daughter Donna who was a nursing school student at the time. She lived in a small apartment with her room-mate Angie Donna loved the doll and placed it on her bed but this didn’t seem to be where Annabelle wanted to stay. Over a short period of time the girls noticed Annabelle would be moved slightly. Very small changes in positions at first but still noticeable, especially since neither…

What is Paganism?
What is paganism? Pagan is simply a word which means anything other than Christian. It only has meaning the same way that Gentile has meaning. Everyone who is not a Jew is a Gentile. Everyone who is not a Christian is a pagan. Heathens and blasphemers are people who, although educated and initiated into Christianity do not agree with or believe every one of the teachings – or the practices. In many cases, blasphemers are people who disagree on one philosophical point, or who believe the church is corrupt and has practices so unChristian that they object. There are many religions in the world other than Christianity and Judaism. …

Spell-Struck
At this time of year, I like to do a yearly “re-balance” check within myself. Sort of like a tune-up. It seems like throughout the year, I slowly, bit by bit, get scattered and torn in a bunch of directions in my life. I like to take time to refocus at this time of year just around or shortly after the Summer Solstice, and again do a tune-up around the Winter Solstice. It helps me keep sane. This is a good ritual to do to also help relax you and ease stress. It is an excellent spell to do prior to going to/getting ready for bed and helps to clear…

Astro Report for July 2012
Full Moon in Capricorn at 12 degrees July 3, 2012 2:52 pm EDT When the Full Moon is in Capricorn, we tend to experience a stability within our emotions. It is easier to make peace and find serenity within. Meditations can be profound at this time. This Full Moon is determined to be cautious though. Although emotions are practical, they are also safely tucked away to avoid disorder and chaos. Try to find time to let loose a little and be yourself with an air of inhibition. Native Lore In July, some tribes of the Native Americans refered to the Full Moon as the Full Buck Moon, because it was…
