Necromancy and The Talking Board

Talking Boards, like the Ouija, are tools used for contacting the dead, which is also known as necromancy, and as a tool it is not in and of itself ‘good’ nor ‘evil’. It is a tool just like any other tool. Like a cell phone, for example, it can be used to make calls to those you love and care for or used to make prank calls to strangers. The Ouija Board acts as a portal to other dimensions allowing non-physical entities to enter this physical dimension. Many casual users do not understand who or what they are communicating with and would not be able to explain how this communication takes place. Without this knowledge and understanding should a problem arise the users would be left helpless in rectifying the situation. This is the reason why many paranormal researchers advise against the use of talking boards by inexperienced individuals.

The Board does not guarantee an experience for the user whether that be good, bad or indifferent however, when an individual with expectations sits down to use the Board those expectations will be met precisely because they are expected and not because that is the only type of occurrence that can be had with the Board. Honestly, it is my belief that malevolent spirits who desire to cause trouble for the living do not need Hasbro to accomplish their desired task.

When in use, The Ouija acts as an open line of communication and is likely to attract all types of entities though it is important to note that malevolent spirit beings residing on the lower level frequencies are easier to make contact with because of their denser vibrational signatures. They reside on the lower level frequencies due to the nature of their essence or soul, which is mirrored by the life they led while on the physical plane. They may have lead a life that was based purely on physical experiences and in death are still attached to the people and things associated with that life. This is why it is important to discern the character of the entity one is communicating with regardless of the divination tool being used.

So why is it that if a family experiences unexplained paranormal activity in their home it is assumed that there is a Ouija Board around that is causing the activity? I’m not referring to the activity of using the Board itself as being the issue, but rather that there is the presence of a Board that is pointed to as the actual cause.

“We have unexplainable malevolent activity in this house,” explains the expert psychic dressed in black.

“Ah HA! Oh, look what I found!” exclaims the second investigator shining a flashlight in a cardboard box hidden in the attic. “It’s a Ouija Board! And it’s broken in two!”

“That’s the culprit!” shouts psychic pointing to the Board. “Get rid of it! Get it out of the house! Burn it!”

“And all the troubles will go away,” nods the investigator.

Uh. No.

It is my belief that it isn’t the Board nor the fact that the Board is broken that is the origin of the problem. It is the fact that a portal has been opened and not closed that is the cause of the current issues. Why is it that individuals believe that if the Ouija Board is split in half spirits will be released and cause problems where the Board is kept? To me this makes no sense. The Law of Contagion (or Contact) clearly states that once a part of something always a part of it. Things that have been in contact with each other continue to act on each other even at a distance after physical contact has been severed. This is the basis of taglocks – using a piece of hair or fingernail from someone to cast a hex upon them. The energy, essence or spirit that was within the entire person or item stays with the pieces of the person or item when it is split into smaller pieces. So if you believe that the Board has absorbed an entity or spirit then that entity or spirit will stay with the pieces of the Board until it is exorcised, banished or cleansed. They will not be released just because the Board was split into two or more pieces.

I do agree that individuals who have used the Board will leave some of their personal energy signature with the Board due to The Law of Contagion and if the owner or other users do not want that energy remaining with the Board then a cleansing should be done before it is used again. This is true for any and all spiritual items especially divination tools like Tarot cards, Runes and scrying tools.
