You Can’t Read It? Read It- Tarot with Lady Saoirse

You Can’t Read It? READ IT!

By Lady Saoirse

Bright Blessings,

All right, confession time.

When I don’t have my divination tools in front of me. I can be really bad at reading people. What I can tell is whether or not I like someone, and sometimes I’m stupid and I let that decide whether I’m around them or not. Do you have that problem? I know what the right solution is for me and if you have the same problem I do, it might be the solution for you.

Consult your divination tools about it. I am terrible at reading for myself, so when I need a reading I go see someone else. But I am really good at doing readings on other people. So, when I need to know what’s going on with someone, I let divination tell me. After all, divination is designed to find hidden things.

Part of the reason we do divination is that we’re naturally good at it. Another reason is it’s a big part of our communities. It seems like everybody has a pretty Tarot deck that they show off or a gorgeous set of Runes. People like to wear jewelry that is divination themed and they even decorate their homes in divination style things. You know, the things that scream, “I do divination”. The biggest reason I do divination is to learn things  that I can’t figure out on my own.

My first course of action is to try and communicate with people and get the answers from them. That’s not always possible for different reasons, one of which it that not everyone is honest. There might be things that you don’t want to come right out and ask somebody. Usually when I do a reading, I read energy and I ask people for their permission to read that. The type of reading I need would be  one to read energy without them knowing about it. That’s always harder. For me at least. I’m an energy reader and I know that some people will try to hide things, but I’ve always been able to see those things in a reading if someone gives me permission to read their energy.

I’m not one to do spreads, but I do have an idea for a structure you can use when you want to do divination on someone who you want to check up on. Shuffle your cards and set things up the way that you usually do. Set and ground yourself, do meditation, or do whatever it takes to get yourself. And the mindset to do divination. Then begin.

Ask the cards the specific question that you have. Then you are going to lay out cards in a specific order. Your first card, perhaps in classic form, will represent the individual, and that card will tell you a lot about them. And then you’re just going to start placing cards around them that will tell you things that you need to know about them. Not in any specific order, not in any specific spot, unless you want it to. Some people will pull 3 cards and do a past, present, and future reading. When I want to know something about someone that I can’t figure out on my own, I really don’t care about their specific path.

I have a specific question. So, For example, if you’ve met someone new who seems interested in dating you and you want to know what it’s like to date them, you could ask that question. If you’ve met someone and you get a bad vibe off them, you can ask the cards to tell you what you’re picking up on but can’t quite understand on your own. You can also ask about people who you know and love to see what’s going on with them.

A lot of people will do a reading to see what’s going to happen with a loved one’s health problems. They will also do readings to see what’s going to come next after a major life change for a loved one. If someone who you loved started dating someone who you have some concerns about, you can do a reading about that too. You don’t necessarily have to tell anyone about these readings. Some people would be really upset if you found out that you did a reading about them without their permission. So don’t tell them.

Is that unethical? I don’t know, is it? It seems to me if people would tell the truth, we wouldn’t have to find the information behind their back, so I really don’t care if someone gets pissed off if I find out something that they didn’t have the manners to tell me. Part of being a witch means that we practice magic. It’s very magical to discover the unknown with our own methods. Divination is just one way to do that.

Just don’t be surprised if you find out things you are not happy about.  You might want to immediately confront somebody when you find out something unpleasant. Holding people accountable for what you discover in a reading can be difficult though. People will say you don’t have proof, and if they don’t believe in psychic readings, they might even call you crazy.

For this reason, you might decide to follow the “don’t spell and tell” rule but apply it to your divination in this situation. Having the information is most of the struggle. You will be prepared to handle anything that comes your way once what is hidden has been revealed in your readings. Even if people deny the facts, they will know they can’t hide anything from you! Just let then try!

Blessed Be!

Lady Saoirse is a practicing witch, and initiated Wiccan of an Eclectic Tradition.

A recovered Catholic, she was raised to believe in heaven and hell, that there is only one god, and only one way to believe. As she approached her late 20’s, little things started to show her this was all wrong. She was most inspired by the saying “God is too big to fit into one religion” and after a heated exchange with the then associate pastor of the last Xtian church she attended, she finally realized she was in no way Xtian, and decided to move on to see where she could find her spiritual home.

Her homecoming to her Path was after many years of being called to The Old Ways and the Goddess, and happened in Phoenix, Arizona. She really did rise from her own ashes!

Upon returning to Ohio, she thought Chaos Magic was the answer, and soon discovered it was actually Wicca. She was blessed with a marvelous mentor, Lord Shadow, and started a Magical Discussion Group at local Metaphysical Shop Fly by Night. The group was later dubbed A Gathering of Paths. For a few years, this group met, discussed, did rituals, fellowship, and volunteering together, and even marched as a Pagan group with members of other groups at the local gay Pride Parade for eight years.

All the while, she continued studying with her mentor, Lord Shadow, and she became a Third Degree High Priestess in 2022 and is a Priestess of the Temple of the Goddess. She belongs to the Black Dragon Clan. She does readings, Sabbats, and classes in her hometown in Ohio. She has been with PaganPages.org since 2016 and writes for SpiritualBlossom, and Mysticsense.
